This was an instant buy for me. I have the MHP3.5 but wanted to downsize so I can wear it fanny pack style. I used my MHP for daily EDC and hikes ranging from your easy 10 mile trails to +20 climbs. Very few companies use high quality materials that have a refined aesthetic expected from urban bags but can take a beating out in the wild. I can't wait to get my hands on this one.

I’m considering this one for Fanny pack mode. But I’m not gonna lie, I’m a bit embarrassed to go out in Fanny pack mode.

this is the first time i'm liking this brand, buckle placement and zipper with original colour without have to deal with paint chips later, the front compartment is great for edc pouches and well design back pocket 👏

Only thing I would improve right now is the strap. A bit more padding

They should have called it the v1.2. I like the new buckle placement but I kinda wish they add a little zip compartment in the front pocket.

I really liked that one, but missed it. I'm kind of hoping they'll do that with this one.

Doesn’t the bundled up strap hit the back of your arm when wearing it on you back?

Overall I like the sling a lot, but definitely think it’s too expensive for what you are getting. I own 2 Evergoods backpacks and love them, but can’t bring myself to do it for $100. I have slings from other high quality brands with better materials, magnetic buckle, PU coated zips and more that cost $30-40 less.

Wish you would have spent more time comparing the old strap to this one but I agree with other posters the ergo is worse on this version than the first one. I have both now and while this new strap went in the right direction they just can’t get a sling right. It hangs away from the body in such a strange way because they’re trying to make it hip pack and sling but they need to stick to one. Bellroy is still the goat of ergo but I’m not a fan of the venture line at all, it’s a mess. Classic Bellroy sling is still the go to.

Did the V2 fit better while cycling compared to the V1? I'm wondering how much it varies depending on riding style. Mine (V1) always seems to swing down under my armpit even after adjusting and it gets annoying. Any tips are appreciated!

I’ve ridden with the V2 and it tends to swing down under my arm like you described. Not a dealbreaker, but not ideal if you commute a lot like I do. I tend to take it cycling on short trips.

The straps are too long, it bulks too munch when they are folded, looks ugly to me.Besides that the sling is great

@@PackHacker2 For 100 bucks it's just better value to get many others sling with better features/design(Aer,Bellroy,etc). And even if you want small sling,that thing like you said,does not look small either,as the D shape makes it bulkier than it actually is.

a $100 sling? With those zippers? With that strap? With those fabrics? nah. I was thinking probably $45 - $55. But $100, that's as much as a Bellroy sling, which has way better ergonomics and materials.

Better ergonomics and materials? How so? 🧐
@manueldelgado5336

Mmm what? Zippers? Those are some of the best in the market, if not the best. The strap might agree, with some padding it could improve. Fabrics? Those are awesome too, and maybe even better than Bellroys. Main difference would be in the the organization of the biggest pocket

@@PackHacker2 It looks like an unfun copy of the Mountainsmith Trippin' Fanny Pack. YKK zippers are the standard for bag and sling enthusiasts. Bellroy's sling comes with water resistant zippers. This one doesn't. Evergoods' sling has a duraflex buckle. Great. Bellroy has a magnetic fidlock buckle. That's easier to both buckle and unbuckle. I can both, with one hand. Evergood's strap dangles and the ends can get caught on things. Bellroy's sling is a single adjustment, one loop strap, with no excess strap dangling. It's sleeker. Evergood's fanny pack design makes it normally bulky with no way to compress or conform to materials inside the sling. Bellroy's sling forms and compresses items inside the bag when you wear it by stretching the sides a little. That's just a superior design choice. Evergood's strap to sling design simply isn't as flexible or pliable for the way it sits on your body compared to Bellroy's. That means it's more stiff and uncomfortable. It's just worse for the same price. There's no real thought in terms of design or innovation to what makes a sling good. They just said "Hey, let's make a fanny pack and price it at $100, it'll cost $12 bulk. Cool." I know I'm voting with my money and I wouldn't buy this bag if it was half off. Because I already have a Mountainsmith fannypack that is essentially this exact sling with so little deviation or innovation to justify the price.

@@DPSDeucalion Looks are subjective, Mountainsmith Trippin' Fanny Pack looks hideous to me, it is not as sleek and minimal like CAS2L's design so I would never have considered it in the first place. I also prefer the DWR coated reverse coil zippers that Evergoods uses versus the PU coated YKK Aquaguard zippers or shiny water resistant zippers that Bellroy particularly likes to use, the shiny material makes the bag look cheap imo, at least some color ways don't use the shiny stuff.. Water resistant zippers are also useless if there are still small seams where water can seep through, and it's not like Bellroy is using sailcloth or water proof material so I don't see the point. It is also tougher to open in some cases. Dangling straps should be remedied of course with a strap keeper solution, that's no excuse for Evergoods here. As for fidlock, well the smaller fidlock buckles that Bellory likes to use again, doesn't inspire confidence as it could get disengaged more easily than the larger fidlock buckles. The thinner straps also get twisted more easily and don't provide better support for heavier loads. I don't know which Bellroy sling you are comparing to but I don't like the ones where the opening is very narrow, or the ones where they have too much organization built in, Evergoods CAS2L kinda has the best of both worlds in two compartments. Compression is a complexity added, for a small sling there really isn't much need for it, for example Aer City Sling 2's compression is worthless compared to City Sling v1 which actually works. Bellroy's is better but their bags are thin in depth to begin with and easily flattened even without compression straps. As for the price, it is on the high side, but quite the same as other similar brands like Bellroy, Aer's slings etc.
