Irene is always stealing the show. That last comment you made, about waiting for V3 fixing the air flow and the material. It's like they listen to you exactly and made the next version just for you! I just copped the v3. Although the price hurt, that bag is absolutely amazing!
Excellent review as always! Love the intro! There are some common design elements because one of the designers left GORUCK to start Evergoods. To me, Evergoods has some more refined features suitable for EDC and light travel- it's the civilian cousin of GORUCK. I prefer the MOLLEwops and zippydingles of GORUCK because I like being able to attach stuff to my GR1. I do wish GORUCK would incorporate: contrast lining, independent volume for external pocket, standard external carry handles (GORUCK style though with less drop than Evergoods), top pouch like the v2 Evergoods CPL series.
Man, it's really hard to show on camera how incredible the materials are. You really just have to own the packs. I'm sure most of us here probably have some version of this bag (I have v1 of the CPL and CHZ).

Best vid to date George! Been thinking of getting the 24L for my EDC. I have a GR1 26L and I love it but it’s a tad big for EDC but I love it for overnight, longer trips where I carry my camera.
Good review. I have the first version that I bought because everyone was salivating over it like crazy. I have to say I was disappointed. I can see how they put thought into it and tried to really design it well but I think they failed. Lack of water bottle pocket, no admin to speak of, heavy bag, admin pocket opens off of left hand side instead of right, etc. These turned out to be killers over time actually because they were so essential. I’ve been using mine for a year and I really, really gave it a try but I’m over it. Switching to something else. Hate to say it because I paid big money for the bag.
While I had similar experiences with the bag I enjoyed my time with it.The main issue is the main compartment cause it’s not a 24L bag feels more like a 15 L bag which lead to a lot of headaches when trying to pack lunch and spare clothes

I really like the bag and understand it’s purpose. I wish it had two zippers on the laptop compartment, padded grab handles on the top and side, and a luggage strap on the back for travel.
9:53 This was a major observation from Bo on his review on the version 1 of this bag. I can state my Aer Travel Pack 2 is black and picks up no dirt, and looks new after two years of daily use. ...having said that, I’m going to buy a CPL24 to replace my GR1.
Question for you... I was an early follower of Evergoods and have one of their original CPL 24L bags. Like you, I'm a bigger guy and I never found the fit was good. The form factor of the bag on my back, being a bigger person, was just never comfortable. But the thing that REALLY aggravated me and ended up being the reason I got rid of the thing was the fact that in order to wear the back I had to extend the shoulder straps to nearly their maximum length. This meant that there was no extra webbing to let out to make the bag easier to get on and off. In addition, in my opinion, nothing looks stupider in the world of backpacks than having a bag that has only an inch or two of webbing sticking out of the ends of the strap adjusters when being worn. It's like wearing a sign that says "look at me... I'm a big guy and my bag doesn't fit". I was hoping since you're not a tiny little Chase-Reeves-sized person, you could give me your thoughts on the fit of the bag and on how much extra strap you have when wearing it comfortably. The bag seems to for well proportionally to your frame where you show yourself wearing it but, since you only show a back view, I can't tell how much extra webbing you have leftover and if that will be a concern for me. Any help or insight you could provide would be a huge help. Loved the video. Your wife? partner? girlfriend? totally cracks me up!
Your reviews are top notch, George. Jack Barley, co-founder of Evergoods is also one of the co-founders of GORUCK, which is why there are some similarities. This bag is tempting. Do I really need another bag? I have a Pack Animal Rally Pack which is a roll top. I didn’t think I was going to like the roll top and almost returned it but I’m glad I decided to keep it. It’s my most used pack now. Very roomy and comfortable. Not as much organization as the Evergoods CPL but it works. I use it more than my GR1 now.
Does Mrs. Defined have the lowdown on when the version 5 will be for sale? 😆. I like the bag, but 230 ducketts sounds kinda steep for it being a booksack. Thanks for sharing. One.
In my opinion a problem with this bag is it isn't tall enough. It looks like it juts out too much from your back and isn't very inconspicuous. This is a big ass bag and I'm kinda wondering why it looks so much more obtrusive than the tropos 33 or recon 35. Let me know your thoughts.
