I'd love that museum. Next time I go to the USA (I'm in the UK) I might rent an RV in Southern California and then drive up and down the West coast. I'd definitely want to visit that museum.
this was my favorite place in my first year of RVing, thanks for the video. the movie they showed was fantastic. i hope you went inside the space museum, it is great, and they have a yummy cafe.
Yes, great space museum. Not quite as good as the Kennedy one, but pretty good for its size. Unfortunately, the cafes were closed, guess it's offseason which was nice as there were barely any other people around. Cheers, Ray
Awesome and, it made it to "The List" - thank you! If ever in Central Ohio, be sure to check out Wright-Patterson AFB & Museum (Dayton). Free admission (a few bucks for the movies) and it will take you a couple days to enjoy all 4 buildings. Plenty of space to park your rig although camping overnight requires military ID.
I went to Taiwan for Honeywell Engines and stayed at the Evergreen Hotel and went by a huge shipping container port owned by Evergreen. At the Taipei airport we saw some Evergreen 747s. Big company!
That’s look like a great spot. Many , many years ago I went to San Diego, I remember going down and seeing the Queen Mary and seems like down from that was a big white tent i think and I kinda walked in until someone said its closed and the Spruce Goose was there. So I guess it was there and moved that place. I will definitely go to the museum. I am not far from the air and space museum in Va with the space shuttle and the Enola Gay bomber and many other cool stuff. Cool stuff... Thanks for the walk through...
Love to see plane museums. Didn’t know Spruce Goose was in Oregon. If we ever are in the area, that would definitely be on our must visit list. Nice that they let you boondock on the property. I enjoy seeing the places you visit. Have a safe trip back to BC.
Both 747's landed at McMinnville Airport across the street. The longest runway is 5400ft, which is okay for small business jets. Everything possible was stripped out and had enough fuel with reserve to land at Portland International if necessary.
I haven't been in there since it probably cost 5 bucks to get in lol. Thank you for sharing.. ✈🚁 we drive by it all the time but we can't afford 50 bucks to go
Have you considered adding Styrofoam tiles to the ceiling and walls? Light weight I am guessing, with a pattern and added insulation. I ask because I plan on looking for something to add insulation, and, do something for the same ole same ole walls and ceiling of RV's. Even considering paneling to the walls due to the fact I love wood looking interiors. As a kid, paneling was everywhere on home walls.
Not a bad idea for better insulation but looks to me like it would be a lot of work. There are so many nooks and crannies and objects to cut around in an RV. Also, it would make it a little smaller in here. Our heat and cooling losses are mostly caused by the large windows we have. The best thing we can do is keep moving to optimum temps. :)
Have you ever been to the Boeing Museum of Flight in Seattle? Definitely one of the best aviation museums out there. Also the Boeing factory tour is also very interesting (assuming they still offer it).
I saw the Spruce Goose and the the Queen Mary when they were both in California together. I can't imagine how they were able to move that huge plane to Oregon, was there any info about the move?
Yes, mostly by barges, there was a short film about the plane with footage of the move. I found it on RU-vid for ya - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nfkyhj-g22w.html
Yes, for basic admission you get to walk in and see the main cargo area. For extra, there is a tour of the cockpit and chance to get a photo like the iconic one of Howard Hughes when he flew it at Long Beach harbor.
