Like I said everlast is my favorite group and my boyfriend bobby s never been to a concert ever in life it would be nice for me to take him to his fi st concert ever i think so!lcrystal
Santana's one of the few guitarists whose playing is so distinctive that it's recognizable after just the first 3 or 4 notes he plays. How does he do that?
+Donna Surles Gilmour's probably my all-time favorite player, but I think Santana's sound is even more distinctive. Regardless, they both make the world a better place, and I'm sure glad we get to enjoy them.
This song is his magnum opus. He was plugged into the spirit when he wrote this song. The spirit chose him. He should be so proud. And we are forever grateful to get a glimpse of the everlasting spirit from listening.
Whose "Magnum Opus"? Santana's or Homeboys' because his singing was kinda trash in this performance though the song is meaningful and well written. The album version was better in my opinion. As for Santana, this was a typical Tuesday. The man was at Woodstock. He's played better songs with better musicians for decades. (also only my opinion) I love Everlast. "Opus" - not so much.
@@musicmnw1982 Not to disagree, for sure the opening vocal doesn't get too close to the recorded version. In mitigation though, however much warming up he may have done, he's coming on to do one song, cold. Getting the right tone and 'grit' at that register from a standing start seemed quite tough and it sounded better when he was able to take it up a few notches after the instrumentals. I'd surmise that if he'd done a few numbers before this it may have sounded better. FWIW I still liked this.
@@ianwalker6930 For me, it's not about how well the song was preformed in this instance. Even the album version isn't worthy of being considered the high point of Santana's career. That's all I was saying. Not a bad song at all just not "the best".
I have loved Santana since I was a young girl. My uncle Joe Coster and his brother had the opportunity to play in the band. Carlos just has that distinctive style and sound and there will be no duplicating that, ever.
Carlos Santana has such a distictive way of playing the guitar, that we can easily recognize when he plays. He is one of the best. He is also very nice. A great human being
This song has special meaning for me.....I was listening to this when I received a phonecall that my mother had passed away, she's my angel with her hand on my head.....
This happens to be one of my all time favorite songs. It's very deep, reminding me that there's Good and Evil in every one. The percentage of each depends entirely on our own actions, and our values toward other humans. Also tending to Mother Earth's needs. Anyway it hits home in so we many ways. Bless you for writing such an Enlightening piece of art.
Hs special meaning to me also.....this was blasting away on my car stereo as I raced to the hospital that my mom was rushed too, and I got that ill fated call that she had passed away before i could get there to say my goodbyes.....The tears are flowing as I listen to this every time.
This song has a million reason to touch your soul... one for example... 18th August 1969, the day Erik schrody was born and the same day Carlos Santana was shredding guitar in Woodstock 69... I hope God bless us all with such coincidence till the day we die...
I saw carlos santana in 1979, san fran. I see the honesty and intent in this best performance with everlast, ever. Love others forever, no matter what.♡
YettiMCFB Yeah No Doubt man !! Santana has always had the tightest sounding bands. Shit, Santana himself is like the only guitarist that I know of that can time every single note he plays, perfectly on his sweet sounding guitar. That entire band is infuckingcredible !!!
YettiMCFB No doubt! Its nice to see REAL Musicians perform live. Most of the shit that gets the airplay these days is full of Hacks and little Punks that can't even play their fuck'n instruments 👊💥. 😎Cheers🍻🍻👍!
After two strokes since Nov.010..this song mens a lot more to me more know than when I firt heard it. Thank God for thee light being there when I woke up. Live each day as your last because you never know how many we have left!
Every time I hear and see this vid it just brings chills up and down my spine with how much emotion goes into playing this song by both Everlast and Carlos 💕🎸🙌🏻
Im just as amazed looking at this video today as I have been in the past. Each time it touches my heart in a different way. Today, I found out that a friend from my past died, very unexpectantly. So the lyrics just touch my soul extra special today. You know what I mean?
Santana has the silkiest and most poetic guitar tone and phrasing and he plays with incredible musicians - the drums, the bass and that keyboardist are all top shelf
I’ve always loved this song since I first heard it! Sooo glad to see them! Soooo moving. Sorry to hear about your heart attack…. What beauty arose from that event. Thank you!
Man Everlast has such a deep voice every record he made from the 80s to 2000s his voice got deeper and more raspy cool as fuck. Santana and band unreal as usual. Great performance.
Thank you Everlast and Santana for sharing your gifts with the world through all the ups and downs. Amazing what this human body can take before we move on.
Stands to reason that all of these musicians are skilled. If you were a board man or drummer and Santana asked you to play with him, you're going to say "yes", right. Good tune too.
It means to not give up and see that there is a world out there that you can be a part of no matter what and as long as you are breathing turn your light on. Be a part of us, Dont quit trying, dont let yourself get down and yes keep hoping. Please we all need you!
Through all that, the bass player's holding it all together. THAT'S why I play bass. We are the offensive lineman of music. Great song, great version.....
Man, I love this song. It's even better live. This whole DVD is good actually. This is my fave of the DVD though. And the drummer is killing it with the double foot pedal action. WOWSERS!
hey now...hey now...i got no words...not much more to say then the rest of you...what a combination of talent here..cheers to all from a greek.canadian
I love Santana and have since I was a little girl. My uncle Joe Coaster and his brother had the opportunity to play in the band. Carlos just has that distinctive sound and there is no duplicating it, ever.
your so right Nichole Martin! Em's music is History and Santana will stay forever as he is one of the finest musicians that ever lived! It amazes me what some people will do to get attention once their short lived fame is gone! EVERLAST!! your plain and simple GREAT! I am a new fan after hearing this!!! My best to you always!
You are still beautiful and strong. You have worked hard for the success you still have to this day. Thank you for all the insight into this crazy ass world
Seriously. This was the most commercial effort of Carlos Santana’s entire career. It worked, but let’s not pretend this was anything other than what it was: an aged rock icon without a hit for decades paired with younger talent (Everlast, Rob Thomas, etc.) in an effort to sell records to young people while baiting the Grammys in a further effort to sell records to older fans who valued such things. It’s a great song, it’s a great album, but I don’t think there’s a strong case for some deeper meaning to any of it.
