Don & Phil sing Walk Right Back (not live) and perform a rousing rendtion of Mention My Name In Sheboygan with their host John Davidson. Kind of a strange experience to see pop/rock stars of the day perform such a song in 1966 but stranger things have happened I suppose................................
The show is concluded bt the whole cast performing an Everly medley which includes the originators as well.
Please visit our Everly Brothers International facebook page and our website : www.everly.net for the latest info on the World's No. 1 singing duo !

I truly feel that without Phil’s high harmony that they never would have made a career at all!!! There were a ton of guy singers - & Don wasn’t all that special on his own!!!

@@sueadt8421 I think people are so used to hearing the Everlys as a duo that it’s difficult to think of either brother as a solo act. You might change your mind if you heard Don sing “Yesterday Just Passed My Way Again” in a video from 1980 when he appeared on a show called “Nashville Swing”. It knocked my socks off when I heard it. Ditto for a version of “If I Were A Carpenter” he does when the Everlys were the summer replacement show for “The Johnny Cash Show” in 1970 (it might be in the second show). He’s pretty darn impressive as a solo singer.

@@cak8132 I’ve heard every song they sang together & separately on RU-vid, plus all their early songs on my parents’ B & W tv & radio station from 1957 on!! My favorite song was “Wake Up Little Susie” (their first #1 hit)….which I sang recently at karaoke - from memory!! I’ll always think that Phil sang better! Don talked TOO much & just wanted all the attention!!! Phil’s hair always looked better as well!!! ❤️❤️❤️

What I really love about the Everly's, is that they were more than musicians, they were an act, entertainers with the old vaudeville element. They can be comedians and interact naturally with other showmen. This kind of talent is absent in the music world.

No one appreciates the Everlys more than I do. Play them all the time at home and in the car, but you do the Beatles a disservice with that comment. John, Paul, George - all good musicians.. I'd hazard a guess that you don't play guitar or haven't tried to tackle chords and progressions the Brits employed. Where the Beatles and all others fall short, if that is the right expression, is that they haven't got similar genes and upbringing plus, and this is the killer, as others say here, Phil's high harmony. Think we should avoid pointless who-is-better-than-who arguments and settle for who you like best and in this case sit back and enjoy the McCartney/Everlys collaboration on "Wings of a Nightingale"

The Everlys kept on releasing new music right through the 60s but the TV shows of the time seemed determined keep them stuck in the 50s performing their oldies. Must have been very frustrating for them when they had new material to offer.

@@kathrynkathryn4836 Do you have a link to that interview maybe? From what I know, the medication his doctor prescribed made him addicted, as he said, "to a point where you don´t wanna live anymore". So he attempted suicide with an overdose. That was in 1962. But he got over his issues eventually. First the drugs, then the alcohol in the 70´s, in the 80´s he was heavily overweight. But then things levelled out, thank god he is still alive and well.

"Mention My Name In Sheboygan" is from one of their early 60's albums after they lost the good songwriters, I don't know who was managing them at the time but they got some VERY bad advice on song selection for a few albums there, it kind of ruined their career as far as having hits.
