Eversolo DMP A8 : Is this the end for other streamers?

Good morning. As far as I know, you cannot split the DSP, however you can use both connections at the same time, for either bi-amping or with a subwoofer. Cheers, Mark :)

Hi Mike, as far as I know the R2R volume can be bypassed to a fixed output. That said, as its analogue, setting it at full volume should have the same effect. Cheers, Mark :)

Good morning and thank you for the question - its an interesting one. My gut feel based on experience of the AKM sound is that I expect it to be warmer (but not less detailed). I think its a great move by Eversolo, but until we get the chance to compare, its pure speculation :) As soon as we have one, we will be presenting a new video on the A8 :) , Cheers, Mark

There must be some kind of misunderstanding here. The internal DAC chip (AKM or Sabre) hast *no* impact when you use the A6/A8 as a streamer only with an external DAC. However, better oscillators may be beneficial (Master Edition), depending on how good your external DAC might be.

@@goodsound4756 i only care about thr sound sigature of the streamer. The a6 is bright and i don't like it. Thr external dac is a rather expensive rockna wavelight, connected via usb. So there is no impact on the sound as i am not using the clock of the a6/a8.

Then you already gave the answer yourself I have an A6 (bought for the Screen), feeding via USB my DAC from MSB. However the MSB has a streamer module as well and I slightly prefer that. So I use both units simultaneously as a Roon Endpoint. The A6 only for the display while MSB does all the audio stuff itself.😊

@@goodsound4756 Not really. There must be something to do with the chip that transports the data towards the dac. So I am hoping that the A8 just as a transport will sound warmer. Am I wrong in thinking that? Will it sound the same as thr A6? Again only as a transport.

Good morning, you can use one of the analogue outputs for a sub and the other for the power amplifier (both can be active at the same time). Hope that helps. Cheers, Mark :)

@@EliteAudioUK thanks for the reply. However, that's not really what I'm after. Ideally, I'd apply a high pass filter to the main speaker outputs, as this can substantially reduce distortion, and increase maximum SPL. This isn't achievable if the same signal is being fed to both sets of outputs.

Good morning Harry and thank you for your comments. The speakers are the JBL L100 'Black Edition' , which are the new mkII is a special finish. They retail at £5500, but the pair in the video can be bought for only £2900. I owned the previous 75th anniversary edition pair and loved them. Cheers, Mark :)

Only the streamer circuit is high end of the A8, rest is usual fare of cheap streamers including pre-amp and dac.

Hi again Joaquin, what we intend to do is compare it using its internal pre and then compare it to an analogue pre and see how good the internal one is. Obviously at this price, there is a limit to how good it can be, so it will be interesting to see where it lands. Cheers, Mark :)

Hi! I have a node x running through the fiio k9 by coax. Then Pioneer c73 preamp and the Pioneer m73 power amp. Focal Aria 948 and the ava sb-1000pro. I was wondering if the A8 (or even the A6 standard with a source upgrade) will sound way better. Thank you!

@EliteAudioUK Thanks for doing what you can to cheer me up 😄 Like you mentioned there, I prefer the purist way of no tone controls generally speaking, but there are scenarios where I would like to give my setup a tad or warmth/softness. There are other features/specs that make the A8 seem like the endgame streamer for someone like me. Well well, I shall enjoy my A6, it's a wonderful device!

@@EliteAudioUK I am certainly enjoying my A6 Master Edition and plan on keeping it for quite awhile. I just upgraded it to the latest software version, and they added a lot of nice features, such as now having the choice to display a spectrum analyzer instead of the VU meters. The funny thing is , shortly after I got my A6 ME, I actually e-mailed Eversolo and requested if it was possible to also have a spectrum analyzer as well as the VU meters, along with pointing out a few small bugs and other niggles that I encountered. Imagine my surprise when I upgraded my unit and saw they actually friggan implemented that! I can't imagine that I am the only one that desired that feature. I had to reply back to let them know just how awesome that was to see that! They obviously listen to feedback! As an aside, they were really quick in replying to my e-mails, sometimes within hours. In fact, speaking of listening to feeback, it seems quite a few of the features on this new A8 has to be directly the result of feedback, such as the inclusion of HDMI ARC jack, as well as the analog input.

BluOS is so limited and quickly becoming the blackberry. I’ll be very happy to see BluOS get serious but without Apple Music and more.. these Android based systems will win. NAD can do so much better.

Depends if this A8 can support the ability to apply different DSP configs to the XLR's and RCA's, otherwise there's no way near the ability to integrate subs as well as what the M66 will provide. As someone looking at the M66 for a 2.2 setup, I'm more than hopeful the A8 will facilitate this, because it'll save a big chunk of money - time will tell!

As dealer that reps the Eversolo brand I think it’s their job to promote the product at least I know going in what the motivations are as opposed to other RU-vidrs that receive the product for free and hype garbage.

@@balooo2863 This years emperors new clothes, take away the screen and no one would give it a second thought. In 24 months time it will be who are Eversolo and some other brand comes along and another quick buck is to made.

Meh. They're a retailer. Take everything they push (including the blind listening tests) with the proverbial pinch of salt. Still interesting and useful videos. Listen to what he's saying. Demo the gear. Trust your ears. Buy what YOU like. Ignore everyone else's opinions. That is great advice.

Absolutely right. The should spare the display and integrate a ssd.

Then find something that has the features you want 🤷 Not everyone wants the same thing. That's what's great about a diverse market.
