Thanks for the feedback, I'm Mirror from Eversolo Tech. It is really a difficult problem to take into account the ease of use with so many functions in one device. But the success of the A6 lies precisely in its versatility, which gives users more choices, you won't find any other streamer that offers as many connectivity options and features as the AMP-A6.. However, some suggestions in this video are very constructive, such as global search for logged-in music services and libraries. We are planning this feature. And we are considering adding a function: when the source is on another input and the built-in service is played, a pop-up box will prompt the user and provide a quick switch button. Everyone uses their devices differently. We put a lot of effort into DMP-A6 to present so many functions relatively intuitively, and the operation is intuitive. You can use it easily if you know how to use your phone. Anyway, we will always be committed to improving user experience and constantly expanding our product investment and R&D team.

@eversoloaudio Hello Mirror. That the SPIRIT, Sir! Thank you for commenting. Respect. Simplicity is not easy, - and thats exactly why it should be given so much attention! ("we choose to go to the moon, not because its easy, but because it is hard!", remember? :-) Global search is a great idea, but I would recommend the goal to become a fully customizable frontpage with say, 5-8 "slots" for adding direct "one click" access to anything the user wants, may it be a playlist, radiostation, local file or specific service. I am totally aware that there is no such thing as "all things to all people", but there is prioritization of simplicity & convenience speed focussing on removing ANY unnecessary clicks and making the things the user uses the most, direct accessible. For example, adding a "quick switch button" is one unnecessary step, if the user already activated something requiring the internal player.... The software should make the switch automatically. Please do see the HIFI Rose and Cocktail audio reviews for more ideas on HOW NOT to do it :-), and feel free to contact me if I can be of professional service to eversolo helping to extract the full potential for a great user experience. In my experience, most users are not able to articulate WHAT they dont like - they simply just end up not feeling inspired.

I have both the Eversolo and Bluesound. Sonically the DMP-6 beats the Node hands down. To me sound quality is the most important and essential aspect of a piece of music playback equipment. Ease of use is a personal thing. Don't tell me playing vinyl records on serious setups is a breeze. Yet so many audiophiles enjoy the ritual !
@dannyfannyfoodle

If you’re comparing the two using their built-in DACs I’d still disagree, but if you’re referring to just the streamer into a separate DAC then I vehemently disagree. I do agree that sound quality is the most important but the usability is kind of part and parcel.

If you actually consider the Node's make-do built-in DAC superior to that of the DMP-6 I have nothing more to say. As for the user interfaces what appears to be overly complicated to one may turn out to be intuitive to another. Please don't treat your own preferences as universal. @@dannyfannyfoodle

@@dannyfannyfoodle The A6 already sounds better than the Bluesound, I own that one too, it somewhere in corner on the floor (I always thought it was crap, digitally). where the difference get way bigger is getting the A8 with seperate build in LPS. @dannyfannyfoodle

@@Cestmoi50 So you must be referring to the A6 and Bluesound using their own internal DACs. I would agree that the A6 sounds more “detailed” but at the expense of any musicality and with a digital harshness that makes it very unenjoyable to listen for any extended period of time. So really, I’m primarily referring to these two devices as streamers only - going to a quality external DAC. And in that respect, the Node is the far better package with a mature, refined user interface which is a pleasure to use. But lest you think I’m a Bluesound fanboy, I sent that back too in favor of an iFi Zen Steam in dedicated Tidal mode. USB out to my Naim DAC V1 which, with its asynchronous USB input does its own reclocking. It’s pretty fantastic.

@@dannyfannyfoodle I actually hated bluesound, everytime having to reindex my network share music file, add a folder, reindex, add 2 files reindex (drove me nuts). No reindex meant, files not available. I own the A8 as a streamer with a chord tt2 + chord mscaler and love the combo. And a8 sounds way beyond the A6 digitally and also musically. I own the DMP-A6 and use it everyday. It's a great product. All I hear from this guy is Pick, Pick, Pick! Come on...the product has only been on the market for a short period of time. Sure it's packed with features, and I agree the designers don't need to make the product more complex. But give it time. The software programmers will eventually make the product more user friendly and a more mature user experience. Maybe it was rushed to market too quickly? How many other products could you say the same thing about? Eventually the product will prove itself worthy. People are too impatient I find. I really enjoy the DMP-A6, and to my ears, sounds great.

I totally agree eversolo are not worse than everybody else.. Have a look at the DS10 review, HIFI Rose, Cocktail audio and so on.. The problem with the software originate from the lack of user experience vision in the basics of the design. If that was present your front page would be populated with the stuff YOU use and a mechanism to easily make presets on the front page to any playlist, radio, service. Its simple, but technically hard to do, so intead you get these patchwork solutions, where the individual elements do not "talk" to each other. That how you end up with a product, where the product cant even change signal paths internally leaving novice users with a feeling of being unsuccessful and without music :-) Thats the stuff we need to talk about, in order to make vendors aim higher in the HIFI industry. Even my robot vaccum cleaner comes with easy to use software that works as ... a appliance in comparison.

@@stjernholmreviews @stjernholmreviews This is typical for software written by engineers/programmers and those products all come out of a manufacturing/engineering environment. That skill is usually not in house so they need to hire a good UX design team to rework the front end. This is a problem through the industry, good software costs a lot of money and it's either not possible for some to really invest (and keep investing, once you make something it never ends) or they underestimate it and end up with half baked solutions. There is a reason Harman acquired Roon, their companies also suffer from this problem.

I can only laugh. I have the DMP A6 and I LOVE it....when I am not hunt and pecking through the menu! LOL. Once it is playing it sounds pretty, looks pretty, and is in my price range... so few complaints here. Plus I have been ripping my cds and loading them up to the internal SSD i installed. I love being able to connect to the device as a network drive via my desktop on the other side of the house, or laptop from wherever I am at home, and load my music that way. I am able to rip cds from my desk while I work and drop them into the device. Later I just refresh the library and joila! it's basically a NAS drive and I can play those same files via apple music in my office or my laptop. Very convenient. But you are spot on about everything. the VU meters get tiresome after one or two viewings...pure gimmick. The cd player/ripper doesn't work consistently...or at least didn't for several months...not sure if they fixed that...this of course is why I am ripping cds in my offfice. The manual source selection is a big pain along with the slow indexing. So plenty of issues, buuut....none of my ex-wives or girlfriends were perfect, so I guess I shouldn't expect more from my audio gear than my lovers....at least that is my rationale.

@@stjernholmreviews interesting question. Here's a detailed response. I mainly use the album view in the music library to decide what I might want to listen to at any given time so having cover art for every album is super important. I read up on how the A6 does back end file management and decided it was worth the effort to me to commit to the following system. I rip my CDs on my Mac pro tower because it has tons of RAM and processing power and thrashes through each job with ease. I use Apple Music/ XLD / Picard / Google / Photoshop in my ripping formatting and uploading process, with each app playing an important role. Apple music identifies 99% of all CDs with ease. Those that Apple music can't catch i use MusicBrainz Picard to scan search and identify. Otherwise I simplymanually input artist/album/track info in Apple Music if it is an indie artist self published CD. Next I rip with XLD to Flac files. XLD pulls basic CD data from Apple music and then pulls all the id3 tags from online databases during the rip. While a CD is ripping I search for album art on Google or scan the CD cover in Photoshop. I save the album cover as a jpeg in the same folder as the audio files. The A6 is programmed to recognize jpeg files in a folder with audio files as album art. Albums are organized in nested folders by album folder inside of artist folder. These folder hierarchies are saved in a music folder on the A6 SSD. The net result is that every single album has cover art, so browsing is visually inspiring. Also the A6 is pretty good about showing artist photos (with some caveats) so browsing by artist is fun at times too. I have the A6 connected via Ethernet to an Eero network extender. As long as the unit is on I can set my Apple music library to pull from the A6 ssd as well and access those same files on my computer in my office. Complete with artwork in apple music. I guess you have to be a bit of a computer nerd to commit to this approach. I am a visually artist and filmmaker so most of my adult/career life has relied on computer literacy. The A6 is basically a special function computer so thinking about it this way came naturally to me.
@mouser78
@mouser78 4 месяца назад
@@InyeW206 A lot sounds familiar and I also qualify as a computer nerd but I'm very happy that this is a blast from the past for me. The older I get, the less time I want to spend on these kind of things and just want my stuff to work when I want it to work without a complex workflow to get it in a state I want. Since I started using Roon I never do this anymore, my workflow is rip, drop it on my NAS and listen while excellent metadata en covers is already available. I've occasionally made an edit via the excellent UI but that's just for me, because I'm used to a certain cover or something. Audirvana does the same but that's more if you always control from a fixed computer imo, Roon is a lot more flexible. I took the plunge on lifetime, it's basically the price of another component but maybe the best I've bought the last couple of years.

The lack of presets was one of the things that kept me away. Never knew it was so slow with local files I assumed it would be fast with a fast SSD. BluOS 4 is also a bit of a shock. My NAD M10 has really slow Tidal access now. Why do they ruin software with bloating? Even Doon seems overbaked these days. I did love the car analogy. We hired a MG in the UK. You must not remember, I was the first to tell you about this EverSolo box, much more affordable than the HIFI ROSE 150 which absolutely had to be tested... Here again, my hopes are dashed... Most testers who listen to them say that the interface is fast, scrolling through the VU meters or displaying a few titles and covers from Qobuz or others. The majority of people have several hundred gigabytes of FLAC files. The addition of a 4 gigabyte SSD in this case is an undeniable boon. But searching for a title outside of the "search" mode that you present is a challenge... In conclusion, you should make a video with a ranking of the tools you tested by interface first and sound quality second. People will then be able to really know where they are going since you are the only one doing it 👈 Greetings from Paris ! @@stjernholmreviews

I would not take his comments partly as a grain of salt, because if you actually compare it to a Bluesound and say it is better.... than by al means, trust him, but I sure won't, I had the Bluesound I hated it, analogue CRAP, digital CRAP, no way to get a better PSU, and every file you add to your network share, indexing reindexing,... drove me mad. and no reindex... well than no music file. and just imagine a 3,8TB folder full of files. That meant no music listening for hours untill it was ready again. I love my Eversolo A8. Design wise I loved my Hifi Rose RS130 more, not te software though. will I say is it the best, or without flaws, no, but compare to other streamers devices I owned, way more expensive, I love the way this app works.

I've tried other devices, from the likes of iFi audio,Lumin and aurender and I just keep coming back to the blue sound. I mean sure some of these devices particularly the lumin do sound better than the blue sound but at what cost. I'm with you buddy, I've been into Hi-Fi for about 10 years and the more and more that time goes on the more I simply want to press one button or switch and have my system play the music that I want. Thanks for commenting! I totally agree. I see on a first hand basis how it affects the inspiration to listen to music. With every system I give my wife the challenge to find a radio station or play a specific music. She ends up giving up, returning to her iphone and earbuds, even though she loves the experience of better sound from the systems. I think that is true for MANY. When things got streamy, we lost so much of that connection, and it is just getting worse with these "have to do everything" products loosing track of being a intuitive "appliance" too, empowering and inspiring the user. Great Video 🫶🏼. Question: Does the slower indexing only apply during the initial intake of audio files, or does occasional re-indexing also occur? And if one desires such a jack-of-all-trades after all, what alternatives to the A8 are there that excel in the points you criticized?
@stjernholmreviews
@stjernholmreviews 2 месяца назад
That a great question! There aint many, and that the problem. Everyone wants to cover all bases, and then you risk ending up being a master of none. So you really have to look and try out the product, to make sure it can full fill your expectations, as just looking at the featurelist always suggest it will, but then reality strikes, and you find out that many of the implemented features are either super buggy,slow or otherwise a pain to use. I bring up two examples of alternatives, like the discontinued Sony HAP-Z1 that is very inspiring to use for file based content, index well and will present your music in new ways and also do internet radio. If you also want support for streaming services, its very limited. So its often a tradeoff. We all wish for that perfect swiss army knife that will do it all, and let us discover and find everything, no matter the platform while being fast, easy and inspiring to use! For music discovery, ROON is most likely the best, but it can still be buggy, and has no alternative ways of mixing and finding music (like moods, AI creation of playlists or things like that). But its very good for discovering the connections in music between people and styles. It still requires a dedicated server too..

I dont think you are using the built in library when using a Qnap, are you? You are the second viewer to mention it feeling like a "hit piece" and I find that to be quite alarming. Did you see my DS10 review? :-) That was end to end the most uncaring user experience in a product so far, and I took it out on Italian gangsters destroying any inspiration to do things well :-) That was me, tired of vendors not even trying their own products and setting low standards. :-D In the end, my criticism its all driven by a desire to make things better. It takes bravery from me as well as the vendors, as empowering simplicity is hard! We, as consumers are very good at blaming ourselves when we cant figure out to use something (we are not talking about spaceships here, right?) , witch leads to vendors thinking we are happy when we dont complain or suggest improvements. In the case of the Goldnote DS10, I went directly to the CEO, that just send me back to the distributor... yes, he did not give a s... about their software. After that, I made the consumer advice piece review on the DS10. I try to live with the products and use them in any way possible a costumer would use them. And if they dont bring me joy, I am specific about why. Its something that originates from my former professional life with developing professional Audio Video production systems. I talk about how I think consumer products should feel in the Eversolo video, and I also touch the HIFI vendor part here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VdRG5_PWrQQ.html&si=R-czUKy1xOz_lN7D Thank you for adding to the conversation and watching the channel. New subscriber here...because of this review. Thanks for that. Glad to see you voicing negatives, they're not heard often enough. I'm sure thousands of Eversolos were sold, what with the lack of negative reviews out there. Most audio RU-vidrs won't report negative issues with a product, perhaps because they're concerned about slowing / ending the stream of free gear that shows up at the door. So they end up looking like shills. Free gear is valuable; free gear destroys objectivity. Some won't even post a review if they identify multiple negative issues with a product, and that's not helpful to viewers / prospective purchasers at all. When one turns this hobby into a job / business, objectivity and loyalty to viewers suffers or disappears altogether. We humans can be selfish opportunists if we don't temper with appropriate ethical and moral standards. We would do well to remember that a "reviewer" is just a guy with a computer, a camera and a voice, usually coupled with a desire and/or need. And, there are NO standards / qualifications for acting as a "reviewer" on RU-vid. CAVEAT EMPTOR (buyer beware), people! Aloha!

Thanks man. Its a tough one, that needs the INNOVATION CULTURE to change to one where vendors see value in getting the feedback that makes their products better. Coming from the professional world of video and audio, I am chocked how far behind the HIFI business is in general on this. Software seems to be the worst, as the business tend to use audio engineers for the job, and not vision driven GUI designers and software architects. More often than not, they buy the software instead of investing themselves in solid platforms of their own. I touch on the core problems in this news episode: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VdRG5_PWrQQ.html&si=zGFgVmyny-M_K-lK I decided early on, that my contract is with the viewer/reader and not the vendor. Not getting paid for reviews, means that financing though viewer PATREONS is the only way to keep it honest and the format free without the limitations of RU-vid Monetization. It should be utilized as an end-point in this regard and managed from a proper file server whether dedicated or on a SSD to a laptop on the network. Hi, would it still be slow if I'm just accessing the internal SSD with music folders and don't ever need to index or cover art, just play direct from those WAV music files in their respective artist name folders; I don't stream at all or use the internal DAC, just using as transport/player for the SSD. Wouldn't I simply hit the source button, choose either the internal SSD or an external SSD and then it will immediately show me my complete list of files in alphabetical order? I'm currently using the much cheaper SMSL SD-9 player with Hiby app and it does this function lightning fast on my tablet. I can instantly scroll thru my entire large multi terabyte library of hi res (up to 24/196) music files on a tablet in milliseconds. I can visually search for what I need so fast I never need to do some other way of searching like typing or voice searches, my finger scrolling is even faster. It never has to index new added files, they are simply instantly there when I next run or refresh the app; the same way a computer would handle files on a hard drive, no indexing time needed.

@renejensen2262 @michaelcambell9459 There is nothing to having everything manually organised, but thats NOT THE point. You got to listen what is being said. We are talking about Music exploration and inspiration. What that means are interesting ways to browse and rediscover your music. Like browsing cover art, mix styles, moods, tempos and the like. Any idiot can browse a folder structure, but it requires that you know what you are looking for, and you have no clue with the 8000 albums you have, that your brain cant list by itself. THATS why we need interesting, creative ways of rediscover tracks in context with a feeling or a style.
@michaelcampbell9459

Correct me if wrong but it sounds like this unit is not slow at all if just browsing an SSD folder structure and not needing cover art and info, so no indexing is needed for me. I could care less about inspiration, exploration, cover art etc and am only looking for the quickest and easiest way to access my music files. I setup my folders alphabetically by artist name only and not genre, mood etc as most artists have a certain type of music they play, if I want jazz I'll go to Coltraine, Miles Davis, etc, rock I'll go to Beatles, Led Zeppelin, female vocals Eva Cassidy, etc; all I need is the artist name and under each artist name is a subfolder of all their albums. I know all the artists and their albums so well I can jut go straight to them and get on with my listening. I also make playlists of my favorite tracks in two simple folders labeled LIGHT and HEAVY as that covers the two main moods I will ever be in lol. Cover art/info etc would just slow that process down for me but to each his own in this hobby and I can understand your frustration with the slow indexing on this unit so you do have a valid point for most people; I simply choose to bypass that altogether for faster happy listening. @@stjernholmreviews

I agree that the Eversolo UI is often frustrating and you point out several of its flaws. I was tempted to get the Bluenode X, I have used their interface before and yes, it is much more responsive but the sound quality is not comparable to Eversolo products. It's difficult to find a streamer dac with similar sound quality as the DMPA8 or the A6 at that price point and that has a great UI. I owned one for a few months and had over 1tb of flacs on the internal ssd. Weird, but I don't recall it being slow at all. In fact, I was surprised at how snappy it was (compared to many other streamers I tried). Also, I know of only one software that does an excellent job at retrieving metadata: Roon. Everyone else is far behind. Although, recently plex does a very decent job. I used the Eversolo with the internal ssd, tidal and Spotify connect, and finally Roon. Which is what most people will use it for, just like they use most other streamers for. I though it was great used this way. Oddly enough, the one thing he seemed like like, the dac, is the reason i sold it. Slightly too forward sounding. I wonder if the A8 would be a little more laid back? With all the dSP features, I'm sure the A8 will make this guy's head explode. Give this man an AM/FM button and volume knob, and he's in heaven.

It says: “available in Dolby surround pro logic” Back in the days I remember VHS tapes with Dolby pro logic logo on them and older versions of simpsons or movies which at the end had also Dolby pro logic logo. I’m watching it now on my AV Receiver with Dolby pro logic 2 decoder as native source of sound is stereo. As far I understand 5.1 Dolby digital, atmos, dts etc which is prepared multi channel audio. How Dolby pro logic stereo signal differs from regular Dolby stereo source ? Anyone could explain? I understand that av receivers “creating “ multi channel audio from stereo source.

@Subtron200 I love that you pickup on that little easter egg. Yes we are back in the end of the eighties, when dolby surround was carried in the stereo signal. It was a very primitive system, first derived for the first Star wars movie, where they figured out that a "out of phase" signal could be used for the surround information and still maintain stereo compatibility. The Prologic decoder as such is deriving a center channel from the center of the L+R image, sending the "out of phase" content bandwith limited to the back channel with a slight delay and sub bass content to the LFE channel, thus giving the illusion of being emerged in the sound. Using a "Dolby Surround" upmixning on a stereo source, in essence does the same, and I for one is still amazed how well it works. In practice, it is very hard to control everything that ends up in the rear channel as stereosignals can easily carry information that are out of phase to a certain degree but it was a way of getting early day surround sound to consumers via the exciting stereo "infrastructure" witch was also the case for movies, until Dolby invented Dolby Digital that premiered in 1992 allowing a multichannel digital sound track to be printed in between the perf-holes on the 35mm film. It was very well engineered, and is still in use today as the most compatible format. Fun fact: I believe that the Dolby Digital (AC-3) coding technology has its roots all the way back to 1972 in image compression used for the early sattelites discovering our universe. :-)

I came to the same conclusion after comparing the eversolo to a bluesound node, to a sonos port into a reclocker (ifi) into an external DAC. There are several things that sent me back to the sonos, most having to do with its software. The eversolo has no unified cross service streaming search. Neither does the node. The sonos does. The eversolo has no integration with alexa or other voice controls. The bluesound has a rudimentary integration. Sonos has a slick integration, so you can ask for songs or radio stations or whatever. Eversolo does not integrate with my favorite classical music service, Idageo. The node does, but the sonos integration is better. On the other side, eversolo and node play high res files, whereas the sonos maxes out at CD quality. I’m comparing all of these units using an external DAC (Denafrips Ares II). In that configuration, with the sonos feeding into an ifi ipure 2, the sound quality was very close. Using USB interfaces for eversolo or node into the DAC did give marginal improvements, but not night and day. Ultimately, the better user experience led me back to the sonos port. I suspect that if I started with the node I would have stayed with that, since it is a close second software wise. I find I mostly use an app or voice to control playback, so on screen touch controls don’t do much for me, and in fact take up more shelf space than I want to give to a streamer.

All these devices has a huge opportunity to connect us with our music in so many ways, but usually fail in some way or the other, where the logic breaks and things does not speak to each other. The problem seem to originate from everybody doing their own thing, making it extremely difficult for vendors to support and integrate it all in a friendly way, that works in all scenarios. Seems to me, that there need to be a common API that all services should support for everything search, metadata, coverart, genre, mood, styles, tempo, you name it..

User interface wonky? Maybe, or maybe you just have to learn it. Otherwise... The DMP-A6 is the center-point of my stereo system. I'm in the process of re-ripping hundreds of CDs to FLAC. That means the "admin" part for naming conventions so everything sorts and displays nicely on the DMP-A6 and on my Sony player. -- I'm in the process of ripping those CDs to a big folder on my PC. I can copy files directly to a fast thumb drive (for the DMP-A6) or to a micro-SD card for the Sony. This is my primary music listening and when I get the collection settled on the thumb drive, I can copy everything to an NVME in the unit and just add files and sub-folders incrementally. -- I use Tidal, but not that much. It is useful when shopping for CDs. -- I can run one of my CD players through the DMP-A6 and it sounds noticeably better than straight to the amplifier. -- I live in a canyon so FM reception is greatly influenced by near terrain and structures. I've have programmed the local FM stations (and some faves from around the country) that are difficult to capture by antenna on the side of the house where the stereo is. -- The EQ software is convenient. -- There may be better DACs, but there are also DACs that are worse. But DACs have the least impact on perceived sound quality. Most import would be acoustic treatment to the room, followed by a hugely upgraded amplifier and speakers. Those could run about $10K each, so when PayPal notifies me of a $20K deposit, I'll toss the DMP-A6. My user experience? Great.

@Gallery90 you are in fact making my point. This is how a CD should be ripped for a consumer: 1) Insert CD 2) Drink beer 3) Take CD out 4) Look at perfect coverart & metadata in your player. 5) Listen to perfect rips in uncompressed wav or flac formats, shuffle and rediscover your collection based on moods. (This is the CD ripping process of the Cocktail Audio X45Pro. Would you want the hassle of using your PC, messing with software and settings instead?) I have been ripping hundred of thousands of CD`s in my career, built databases of music & SFX archives. Believe me, manual CD ripping and applying metadata is a overrated experience :-) I dont think that you would want a stove that required you to go and chop wood everytime you wanted to boil an egg, if you would avoid it, would you? :-)

I don't really understand your problem with the album search. On Bluesound, the letter "W" is still at the bottom of the list, it's boring to scroll through the list, you should use the "search" function instead. Eversolo has the same "search" and with it you can find the album in a few sec. So where is the problem? Or am I just stupid for not understanding. :)

Excellent. I've been quarreling in the comments with reviewers of streamer (of any sort and price point) for ever about this. They either provide a cursory view of the software focusing only on functions provided or, worse, they only use Roon with them, assuming that everyone will be also using Roon as if it were free and did not need license and hardware to run, and then tell us how much better sounding this dacless streamer is from that one. Bravo! Keep at it. My wish would be for you to review the Volumio Premium software with one of the Volumio house devices preferably the higher end (still less than 1000 euro) dacless streamer Rivo. Btw, I wonder if WiiM, the other Asian origin platform catching the spotlightt lately, is any better than Eversolo in usability. Thanks a lot.

@razisn I had the DMP-A6 for a few weeks last summer and thought I would try out the Wiim Pro just to see what all the hype was about. I ran the DMP-A6 into my external dac and did the same with the Wiim Pro ( optical out from the Wiim Pro is bit perfect ). A lot of testing later, and I sold the DMP-A6. The UI on the Wiim is very responsive and intuitive. Updates are pushed out regularly. I haven't had a single issue with it. Some people the stock power adapter is crap. So I bought the SBooster and tested that for a week. Ended up selling that as well. I haven't tried the internal dac on the Wiim Pro. I'm sure it's decent. Using the Wiim Pro as a streaming transport into a good dac, is a great option. I have tried the Lumin U2 mini, Gold Note DS10, Volumio Primo, Bluesound Node 2i, Silent Angel Munich M1T and Moon Mind. The sound quality from the Wiim Pro does not take a back seat to any of them. The fact that it costs so little is a bonus.

@@craigwilton206 Yes, sq differences between streamers to external dacs, even when they might be, just, measurable they are inaudible. That is regardless what reviewers and some users say. The same goes for most power supplies when talking about digital or even line level analog devices. Very few implementations are lacking in this department and in those cases this is due to design problems of the main device. The hype and amount of snake oil with power supplies for such devices is huge.

Why do you need to quarrel with someone over a streamer? I have been using it since day 1 so I have gotten used to how it runs and the menus so for me I am not really thinking about it. I don't use Roon and I have about 250 CDs stored on the system. I can totally understand how someone would think what the going on here when they first get it. As time has gone on it has got more complex but with some great added features. But this reviewer is making out to be this mountain that nobody can climb or get to grips with and it simply isn't true. whilst he was moaning about the the plus sign on the front where you can widgets he totally didn't tell you that finally has EQ adjustments. Also at the top left of the screen, it tells you the source that you're using so you shouldn't get confused there. I wouldn't call myself amazing with tech but even I can navigate this system to a decent degree.

@@stjernholmreviewsI have 780GB of music on my harddrive which I've been collecting for years buying CDs and ripping them. I have never checked tags details, I've been happy with EAC tagging taken from some online database. After uploading everything into A6 M2 internal drive, what I saw on device's screen was just a mess. To give you an example: "Dire Straits" and "DIRE STRAITS" or "Dire straits" would be separate icon on artist list cause evesolo recognises as different artist tag. So only for Dire Straits you get 3 icon but only one will get artist cover/logo, two will be blank/grey. Another thing : as all know Sting appears on Dire Straits' song Money for Nothing. This will generate another blank icon if tag contains info about another artist featuring original artist. What I did was complete retag of my collection with MP3tag software. This reduced number of icon by 70% at least. This helped with blank album or artist covers also. Looking at your lists while you scrolled them, they look messy too. I know retagging may help if library is huge. But I agree that eversolo should consider major software upgrades as it is not fastest as it should be.

@@stjernholmreviews Perhaps he is talking about cleaner naming/tagging protocols. I use dBpoweramp to rip, and looked at their naming examples. I use two formats and they are a lot more simple that in the days when I kinda randomly included all kinds of fields for the rip. If I try to get all the information on each and every track (you could have 12 tracks of an album with a couple dozen known artists) then you'll just have too many entries to sort through. Also, it has to make sense on the computer so I can add and update albums and tracks. I'm still taking stabs, but sorting through around 2400 trial tracks seems to be OK.

One reason so popular you didn't mention is sound quality compared to the likes of the node which is better, the big display and the fact apple music can be played natively. An interactive display with an alu case and great sound and all the features is unheard of at this money and it’s way better than the cxn v2 I called out, so I don’t know why to do review this way which implies a bad product, just to go against much of opinion. That won’t help your reviews and garner support I don’t think. I’d prefer it if you get the cxn100 and say the same thing that it doesn’t allow picking what you want from the display then assess it better or not against the eversolo on how other reviewers have done it. Then you’ve offered both. I’d call your video a critique of what you don’t like then and not let people think it’s a full comparative review. I’d like to know how it gets on against the ifi neo stream you have, still the bugs of zen stream? better sound and so on, value etc. A missed opportunity. Also reviewing isn’t just what you like. @stjernholmreviews When I bought the bluesound node all my cover thumbnails we're to big so the only thing to do was to recies everything, and that's not a problem for me, i like to organise everything.

Remember to check it out anyways, as it is brilliant for most users, with limited needs, and can serve almost any need you might have or develop in the future. Software gets updated all the time, so the stuff reported here can easily change over time.

May HIFI Jesus bless you my good sir. Possible like most I end up fantasizing about the latest gear and willing to find real practical feedback is just so tedious around all these entrepeneurs. They are fun to watch but the products are hard yet rarely solid so and the funds are limited. Glad to have found ya. Salute from Poland.

Thanks for the honest review. I view a streamer is junk if not user friendly. Might as well use a laptop with usb galvanic isolator.

Well, using a computer is what you want to avoid when investing in a streamer with a touch display. Personally, I hate to use something i look at all day at work, for my music pleasures. Thats why I care about the user experience of such devices. :-). Thanks for watching and following the channel!

I have never issues gathering music / albums etc. Its super fast. No way what you are displaying here. I have a music library of 10TB and it flies on my iphone and ipad. There are no other reviews which acknowledge your findings. The only part I agree is the gui. Maybe playlists or radio stations as favorietes on the screen is possible good idea. What I see is the continuous evolving features after every firmware update. Some more useful and other less. The latest equalizer / balance implementation is a nice feature for me. I also love the idea of continuously development of a device after purchase. I’m also sure they will move away from same functions from multiple locations. They listen to consumer demands. No sorry, overall I can’t find myself in your experiences.

Thank you for commenting! I specifically make the point that eversolo listens to everybody, all the time :-) Thats how you end up with a complicated user experience in the first place. I waited a long time doing the review, as they are good at releasing new software updates. When it was clear that they did not address user experience or a shortcut system allowing users ease of use on a daily basis, but just kept adding functions... Thats where I knew the time was right to give them some guidance :-) I am not at all saying that the product is not great value. I love the hardware. Are you using the mentioned software, and CANT reproduce the file library presentation issues?
@TheVictoire22
@TheVictoire22 4 месяца назад
@@stjernholmreviews no my library is blazing fast. Tried also the internal nvme option but 10tb is too large to fit everything there. I have now only sacd’s iso’s there.

@@TheVictoire22 Are you "just" browsing your own file structure, or actually using the library database like demonstrated with 1.2.50 software?
@TheVictoire22
@TheVictoire22 4 месяца назад
@@stjernholmreviews I'm indeed on 1.2.50, I don't know if this is what you mean but when I use "Music / Albums / I can scroll all these albums fast, especially if you press on the right side first on the bottom letter "H" first, "P" 2nd to see the "W" albums. When I type in Wallflower it has found the album within a second. I use just an SMB mount to my Synology NAS. 1Gbit connected. I notice that my iPhone is faster compared to iPad. But iPad is still much faster as what I see in your video. I have a "cover.jpg" file in every folder to make sure every album is displayed. You can do this for musicbrainz Picard. As always is it also depending on your meta included in the source files how good the process works to add cover art afterwards. Illegal procedure notice: "I refreshed my old library with Qobuz FLAC resources to make sure this was correct in the first place, the cover.jpg will be downloaded too".

Great Video , whilst the rest of the internet are all having orgasms over the EverSolo you have told it as it is, I actually own this unit and use it purely as a Roon endpoint with all my music ,about 30 odd thousand files stored on my Imac, I am not interested in VU meters or spotify Qbuz tidal etc , all I want is quality sound coupled with Hd quality artwork on the display, which the EverSolo does quite well. However when I playback my music I just like to hit the shuffle button and listen to whatever comes along, thats the way I like it you never know whats coming next .Having copied all my files to the internal SSD and tried it with this unit that is not possible, big disappointment, I also own the Sony Hap S1 and I can shuffle my entire library seamlessly using the app, the sense me channels are brilliant and this from a player that is ten years old and the app has'nt been updated in years so for all the EverSolo's bells and whistles the I will stick to the Sony and move the EverSolo on. Keep up the good work.

SLAM! I hear you on all the points. You end up using the eversolo "just" as a endpoint, even though it makes a lot of promises on the box. Imagine it could take over the role of the Z1. Witch was properly what you was looking for, right? Thanks for watching! linktr.ee/stjernholmreviews

I dont think that they are NOT honest! They just dont include critiscm on the user experience and specific functions that sucks. I would like to be able to make it more "consumer advice" focussed, and ultimately, helping the industry to make better products users will love , blasting more GOOD sounding music into the world :-) . I talk more about it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VdRG5_PWrQQ.html&si=R-czUKy1xOz_lN7D

I dont think that other reviewers have not told the truth. They just dont tell you about the less good things, witch again could be considered the root cause of products not getting it right. More on this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VdRG5_PWrQQ.html&si=zGFgVmyny-M_K-lK

I bought an A6 when it first came out when all the positive YuoTube reviews came out and I also found it to be an excellent endpoint streamer just like all the reviewers at the time said it was. I ended up returning the product though. Why you may ask? Because I also wanted to use it as a file server, rip all my CDs to it, and have it be my digital source hub. The problem was no one reviewed the file server functionality of the product at the time. So I started looking at the A6 user forums and noticed that a lot of problems were being reported on the file server functionality of the product. This coupled with the fact that non of the RU-vid reviewers at the time bothered to test this aspect of the product is why I decided to return it. I wish this review was available back then. It would have saved me a lot of time and trouble😊. Well done Stjernholm!

At the moment, there seems to be not even any simple tuner-amplifiers which allow direct access to tuner preset stations - I'm flabbergasted. 1000 euros for an av amplifier with eight scenes? I just want some radio buttons!
