Fun little thing about Jackrabbit at Seabreeze, when we had an ACE thing there over the summer, one teenage girl was running the whole show. Checking riders, and dispatching the train, before the other one got back. Also, it still has its manual brakes, so she had to be mindful of that too. She would dispatch the train, jump the tracks, and let riders into the station, and jump back over to bring the train back into the station. She was on it boy.

That's how it was on my visit too. One guy doing everything, jumping the tracks to let people into the station.

@@OklahomaCoasterFan it was pretty amazing seeing that, when my home park is CP, and there's a minimum of 4-6 people working the station. Then there's this tiny little girl manhandling this 100 year old, manual brake ride all by her lonesome. I thought it was pretty cool.

I attended Lagoon's Roller Coaster's 100th "Birthday Party". They had cake and a banner to sign that was put in a time capsule to be opened on the coaster's 200th birthday, which has my name on it ^^; We even sang Happy Birthday to it. It was kinda bizarre.

I'll always find it funny how John A. Miller was absolutely cranking out Jack Rabbits in 1920. But hey, only one of them is the oldest continuously operating coaster in North America, and it ain't Kennywood's. 103 straight seasons!

Leap the Dips is definitely worth the trip. Sit in the back with weight in the front and you get some extremely massive ejector. I made the mistake and tried putting my hands up. Fell over into the seat. So much fun!! Just a 2 hour drive from Pittsburgh for those also hitting up Kennywood.

Coaster later named Thunderwawk was my first Coaster ride ever! I grew up in a house within walking distance to Dorney. Got season passes every year so I lived there during the summers. I've ridden Coaster so many times. We learned we could get more airtime if we undid the metal seatbelts. And one of our boyhood challenges was to ride it in the back seat, turn around and look backwards the whole ride. 😂

Went to Altoona back in June of 2019 for a minor league baseball game, very disappointed to not be able to ride either of the coasters at Lakemont Park.

I grew up riding the Leap the Dips. Notice the cart and it’s high hand bar and the high side walls to the track. You could literally get the carts wheels to come off the track leaping the top of the dips. It wasn’t enough to derail the car but it would slam back down onto the tracks.

Technically the steel coasters are all older than the wooden coasters. The steel has been arround for millions of years while the wood is at most a few centurys old.

@AirtimeThrills I mean the steel did exsist in its current form all that time while the wood was created by a plant that grew maybe a few decades before the coaster was built. I would say maybe at most the Timber could be 800 Years old from all those really old Douglas firs that were used as Timber back then. These trees can get pretty old

Well, I've been on 4, both Jackrabbits, and both Thunders (Bolt and Hawk). How can you not mention Thunderbolts "you must ride with somebody else" rule! I got to the front of the line and was scrambling for someone to ride with. Nothing like squishing up against a perfect stranger.

That is a very annoying aspect about that ride. I've only ridden it once because of that rule, and that was quite awkward, helping make it my least favorite of the 3 woodies there. The laterals weren't even that crazy to justify the rule. I teamed up with a family of 5 that approached the ride at the same time as me.

Leap the Dips has some unexpected bite to it. I was just leaning back casually, but then we hit the first dip and I swear I felt the wheels leave the track for a second. I've obviously never experienced that on a coaster before, and I decided maybe I could keep one hand on the bar, just in case.

I had the opportunity to work rollercoaster at Lagoon on its main console and all that goes with that, it was so cool to be able to work a ride that is 100 years old but works just like most other modern coasters

It’s a very tough one! I live in New Hampshire and it’s a haul for us to get there on the chance it’s open when there really isn’t much there. Worth it if you can get back out there though!

Can't wait to get on a century old roller coaster. The oldest roller coaster I've been on was the Mine Train at Six Flags Over Texas. It's half the age of these coasters, though. I imagine it's like stepping back in time. Kind of like going to a game at Wrigley but a little bumpier.

The Yankee Cannonball is terrific! Right in Canobie Lake Park in Salem, New Hampshire. Not far from the Massachusetts border. (I call it Kenobi Lake Park lol)

Giant Dipper in Santa Cruz actually opened May 17, not May 24. I guess if there are only 12 100 year old coasters, then there have been no more than 12 people in the history of the world to be 1st in line for a 100th anniversary. As of yesterday, I am one of them!

I love this list. My only wish would be that they could create seating that would allow Thunderbolt at Kennywood to be for single riders as none of my friends like coasters like do. Maybe a cart with a row of separated seat segments, I'm talking Comet Hershey Park style on that PTC train. It would make things less weird for guests and ops.

Btw Kennywood even considers Thunderbolt separate from the piping like me back in 2018 when they were cellbarteing there 120th season they also celebrated Thunderbolt's 50th anniversary

I feel pretty lucky that I’m able to get 3 incredibly interesting and rare credits at my home park (Roller Coaster, Cannibal, and Wicked) despite only having 22 creds. Guess it kinda makes up for not being able to visit any other nearby parks

If a coaster is sbno for years, or most of it is destroyed and later rebuilt, is it really as old as it's original opening date. Or should it be from it's reopening date. Same as Nemesis. That should be 30 this year, but it was totally dismantled last year.. so nemesis will be 1 next year, right? What do you guys think?
