I don't think there is any movie that deserves a sequel than Dredd. Every part of that movie is perfection and Karl Urban is to Dredd what Hugh Jackman is to Wolverine
@@1cookiemonstermanchill, there’s been a lot of movies that have the premise of a small group of people outnumbered against bad guys Both are good movies, no need to call them ripoffs Can’t wait for The Raid 3 tho, if it ever gets made
Literally, they should've marketed this film a bit better and they'd have another OP intellectual property ready to wreak havoc on the market - legit, just because the box office didn't match expense doesn't mean the film didn't overall and with audiences on streaming especially 🫠. Seeing as the big studios and distributors want fan heavy 'risks', well, who knows what went wrong. Clearly they made a fat buck or two, a pretty dime, and despite investing in failing unjust sequels, true fans are left without a Dredd expansion. Sad really... 💀
I can still remember browsing a book shop in Hillbrow, Johannesburg, South Africa, called Estoril books about 1990, and picking up a 2000AD comic, with Chopper on his board. I believe it was the third episode of Song of the Surfer, and I stood there reading the comic front to back. Slaine the Horned god. The long walk. Judge Dredd, and then Chopper. I bought the comic and came back the next day to get the two preceding issues of Song of the Surfer. I'm 51 years old now, but can still remember that cover art, reading that story, I can still remember where I was the day I started collecting comics, can still remember what story made me a collector. I don't collect anymore, but I will always remember that issue, that cover, and the story of Chopper in Super Surf 11, the Song of the Surfer. THANKS for bringing back that memory.
The horned god!. A man of taste. I wish I could forget it all again and see the 2000ad art of Clint Langley and Simon Bisley again for the first time. ABC warriors really deserves a film.
A Bit Off Topic: There was a South African bookstore chain in the 90s/2000s called Paperweight that sold 2000 AD and Judge Dredd Megazine, they also had the Heavy Metal comics. I don't know if CNA still exists, but they also sold 2000 AD.
@@neontetra1000 Before reading that comic, comic art, in my mind, was always 'comicy'(Except for the warrior magazines I got on holiday about 10 years before that). But seeing Simon Bisleys work, man it was art. Every frame with so much attention to detail. It still blows my mind. And yeah, ABC warriors deserved more than the nod in the original Dredd movie. Also would have loved to see Strontium Dog, Rogue Trooper, and Miracleman from the Warrior magazine run. But thats not the stuff that money people believe will make them money.
Chief Judge Goodman who you briefly mentioned in this video, was looked at as a man of the people. He was seen as a fair man by cits but in the Justice Dept, they saw him as an old man who went soft. In one story, the SJS were attempting to cover up an old secret that Dredd was getting too close to. The SJS judges had Dredd surrounded and when an SJS member was about to give the order to fire, showing Goodman zero respect, Goodman decided to act, punching the agent in the face, smashing the agents radio with the punch and embedding pieces of the broken radio in to the mans face. A group of junior judges saw what he did and he turned it in to a teaching opportunity. The juniors respected Goodman and when asked, they answered obviously if Goodman hit him, he saw good reason to do so. One of the juniors then pointed out that while the agent is unconscious, he was now a crim so Goodman should cuff him. Goodman praised their perception of the situation and sends them back to their dorms. I love Goodman, he's the most human of all the judges but don't ever mistake his fairness for weakness
I loved this movie! The 2012 adaptation was fkn amazing! Cerci Lannister as Mama was awesome and she killed it! The slo mo for the drugs was awesome. Great fkn movie.
i gotta agree, i thought that the last movie was superb. it was released in 3d and it's probably the only movie i actually sat and watched on my 3d television that looked great.
There was a short Dredd story where someone throws a chewing gum wrapper out of a window from a tower block. Dredd sees it land, picks it up and does a DNA analysis of the wrapper. Then he determines who littered, goes up to the 200th floor, arrests them for littering and gives them 10 years in an iso cube. Dredd is a total fascist but one of the greatest characters in comic book history!
Simon Bisley..., his Slain and tales from the Mega cities are simply the best! What a masterpieces of art, it'll NEVER be surpassed.., the comedy and darkness are extremely well done in his comics!!! Greetings bibia.
I can still remember the introduction first pages of Judge Dredd in issue 2 when I was a kid. "Small buildings like the Empire State...", A cop on a bike on a high level road with no crash barriers! Mega City 1. I got just enough pocket money (20p) to buy 2000AD. It's all I wanted. Loved it.
The real Villains are the copyright holders that have wasted the vast wealth of intellectual property that 2000AD contains . We could have the best toys and films ever if they done something with it. The best we get is a few amazing fan films
Yup well said mate at least we had judge Minty - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aavS_XUITXU.html Strontium Dog - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i5EZaO1HPF4.html Rogue trooper - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-U_XbkFWvFxw.html Judgement call - judge dredd - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XqyzXefqJcY.html
Borag Thung!Had from Prog 1 upto 350...Dan Dare before that.. Strontium Dog, Hammestein n Ro Jaws, oh and Mean Machine was good villain. Loved the art work, story lines..my Nan threw them out when I moved to Australia.😥
It's a story so many of us share, the childhood trauma of our 2000ADs being thrown out by unappreciative caregivers. I still bare the mental scars of my fathers girlfriend disposing of my Starlords when I was eight.
That was fun. I don't know what Nemesis has to do with Dredd and Mega City One though. Also Chopper? Really? He was just a young rebel who happened to be on Dredd's radar. He was also the main character in one of the greatest comic books ever. Song of the surfer. When Colin Macneil was on form he was unbeatable. So underrated. Also if you are going to put Chopper here you may as well put Stan Lee here. He kicked Dredd's arse.
Disagree with adding Chopper, Dredd actually respected him somewhat, and when did Nemesis crossover to Dredd's universe ?. P.J. Maybe is a fav of mine, but sad to see you missed out on Judge Barry and Mo.
I saw the Stallone version in the movies when I was barely old enough to see it and I liked it, it still has a place in one of my favorite sci fi flicks...I don't know it got so much hate really although it was definitely a more family friendly take on it at least it wasn't boring or bland like a lot of modern movies
@@leroilapue15 the moment he took his helmet off was a dishonour to the character he never ever took it off in the comics it’s was stallones vanity that ruined it for me
@@vadersfather1248 I got some of the comics when I was a kid but it was too mature for me really, they also had Swamp Thing which scared the shit out of me cos alligators came out of his chest haha, but I get it, it was part of his persona
@@leroilapue15 the funniest one in the dredd comics was the juve mutated king fu klegs as this was when the teenage mutant ninja turtles movie came out absolutely hilarious although they ate thier version of splinter at the end of their training so a little darker
"The Day the Law Died" will always be Dredd's best storyline. Specially if you've read the Cursed Earth story that came right before, where Dredd has to lead an expedition to another Mega City.
@@aleckylesibbald435 I've read it long ago, but I think it is. Hell, I've laughed out loud reading your comment cause I forgot about that! (even if it's not in that storyline and I'm mistaken) Cheers!
I liked hearing about the villain who referenced J. Edgar Hoover since that's who she basically was in the comics; she could've been one of his descendants or possibly a reincarnation.
Aww, some of these are so nearly right. The most obvious mistake is that Nemesis has absolutely nothing to do with Judge Dredd (other than the stories linking via Satanus and the ABC Warriors). Nemesis and Dredd have never interacted.
Judges in Gotham is a MASTERPIECE!!! WHAT A COMIC..., SIMPLY THE BEST! A MUST READ!!! Simon Bisley is AWESOME!!! I sadly lost my comics due to fire and burglary..., but I can vividly remember the comics of Simon Bisley even though it's been over 15 years ago I last read one... Tales from the Mega cities and Slain👍👏👌. Greetings bibia. 👋
This has to be written by AI or an algorithm or something. I can't believe someone wrote Judge Dredd from the comic of the year 2000... Article definitely falls into the so bad it's good category.
Such a good film, and they filmed a lot of it in my home city of Cape Town. I really hope the powers that be green light a sequel. Hell maybe Ill get to work on set if they come back to film here again, one day.
OK, I enjoyed this, but am a bit confused as to why Nemesis the Warlock's on here? He's not a Dredd villain, the 2 characters aren't even part of the same 2000AD storytelling universe. Also, the other Dark Judges could've really used a mention in this list, the whole Deadworld saga has given them a bit more backstory.
Me and my buddies went to a Halloween-Party this year as the Angel-Family/Gang, we had to explain it 100 times, at least. I was pa & my buddy actually looks like Fink Angel in real life, had a plush rat with a little paper bowler on his shoulder. Best costume ever, IMHO. Plus: The digit on our "Mean Machine" angel slipped on "three" the whole evening, I guess we're all lucky to have survived that ;) My costume next year btw: Warlock. Be pure! be vigilant. Be-have!
That's hilarious 😂 😃 😄 anyone dressed as mean machine? I'm sure someone gotta know mean machine? Or at least rob Snyder? Sorry don't know right spelling 😅. What a shame 😕 I'm sure judge dredd fans would know. I'm surprised you had no one go as dredd himself? I'm sure if you dressed as batmans rogue gallery they would ve know in a heartbeat. All of you should've went as dredd and the dark judges.
I remember when judge dredd murdered an entire rock band. saw it in a magazine. it was greusome. he was even cracking puns while doing it.😂 that's headbanging lol.
I liked your video but some of the images you used didn't match up with what you were talking about. And why was Nemesis the Warlock included in a Judge Dredd villain video?
I like judge Dredd and 2000ad, but I get no context with this vid. If this is a vid of Dredd's major enemies, how do they all compare to each other? Is there any kind of heirachy?
In short, Dredd is the greatest monster in this work, largely because he is the iron hand of this totalitarian state, only here comes his gallery of villains to show you that he is not alone in this idea.
In any other universe, Dredd would be a villian, but the only reason he isn’t is because of his villains who are borderline psychopaths who make the joker look like a kids cartoon
Man that movie bad ass loved it really worth the watch and you don't have to know anything about the old just dread movies which I think personally was bad but this one is worth it
"Every Disturbing And Deadly Villain Of Judge Dredd" So all of them or is this a random 23 you pulled out because like, if they're not Disturbing and Deadly Dread would let someone else take care of them, unless he just happened to be there at the time.
"because of his dyslexia, he murdered people." I've got dyslexia. I tutor autistic children. Most of them have dyslexia. None of us have murdered anyone.
Didn't Death come through from an opposite dimension where life was a crime? Thinking "Necropolis" in the 1980's 2000AD where "The Dead Man" got Dredd out into the Badlands leaving MC-1 vulnerable.
I think Judge Dredd was a great movie and didn't deserve the critical divide. No different from Robocop 2014. Unfairly condemned because it was different from the original.
@@afrikasmith1049 But it was not unfairly condemned because of that horrible Stallone movie. The masses loved this movie. There was no marketing or advertising. The PR made it flop in the cinema. But everyone that saw it, loved it.
These comics would've been so much bigger with a better artist. I would have loved to see Alex Ross, Greg Capullo, or Todd McFarland do the art for a Dredd series.
