mom saw this and decided that's my saturday project. she's 85 and drives a 2015 Laramie. she says it makes a really good noise and she likes to look down on BMW drivers.

The factory put vinyl on my truck to cover up a paint imperfection they decided not to fix. I took the vinyl off and was 3 for 3 looking good. The 4th had a spot about 2 inches diameter, rough sanding marks that would require a repaint to fix. I put new vinyl back on. They went so far as to fill the scratches with extra glue to fill the scratches. So beware you may be uncovering a mess.

With a silver truck and tinted windows I think the black vinyl looks better for now, it’s a block of black including both windows.

I used to use 3m brake cleaner when I removed vinyl numbers off of semi trucks. Cleaned up the surrounding area really nicely. Broke down any and all road grime that was present, but to each his own🤷🏼‍♂️

This is truly a matter of personal preference. I have a 2017 and a 2019 gen 5 sitting in my driveway. Both crew cabs, both Delmonico Red. Can’t imagine I’d be happy without the blacked out posts. If the film on either started to fail I’d have the posts painted matte black.

It looks cleaner that way I love lil details makes the whole vehicle clean

That " buff wheel" is often used to remove sticker on cars without scuffing paint. Also works great on adhesive as you did.. Had a guy say he's used one of those wheels on headlights to remove oxidization.. I've not tried that. But he said it works...at least in the short term

I like the look of the vinyl. My truck is 10 years old and the vinyl looks the same as when it was new. Not sure how you managed to mess yours up so bad.

Did this and debadged my 15 1500 the 3rd day I owned it. Used a heat gun and had very little glue residue left on the paint. Truck looked so much better after it was removed. My vinyl was still like new but it had to go, that deep cherry red just looks too good to be covered up with 50 cents worth of vinyl.

I was going to carbon fiber wrap mine along with a few other accents to go with it. But good to know this. I just got a 2021 this past summer.

My 2016 vinyl has had waves in it since I drove it off the lot. I never knew there was anything I could do about it. Great video!

My truck is 4 years old now and the window strips still look new. Still, I might be tempted to do this. My only knock against the look is that you now have that piece of window trim running all the way through and, at least to me, it stands out a bit too much. If the trim was broken up and ran only the length of each window and there was nothing in the b-pillar, it would look much better.

I removed all badges and the vinyl while back. Truck looks clean without all that extra crap on it. Red with tinted windows, chrome bumpers and a big flush mounted bug deflector.

I kind of like the look with the vinyl better but to each their own. They do have aftermarket pieces to put on there. My Laramie had the chrome package so that's what I put on the pillars I like the look but like I said to each their own...

Bug and tar remover also works great for removing adhesive. Use it on dealership badges

I have the same color truck and removed mine, but I wrapped mine with gloss black vinyl wrap.

I just put some plastic restorer on that vinyl.And it came back like brand new

I used a hairdryer--worked perfectly.

Looking today at removing the driver side is rippling, but the curbside is good probably the assembly guy had a bad day on that side. LOL

I did this on my 2013 and the I scotch brited the surfaces taped off the line on top and removed the weather stripping on the inside taped the piller and put three coats of satin finish Trim Black from SEM looked awesome till I traded in on my 2018 this one is Delmonico Red pearl so when they do it on this one I am just going to peel them off and leave them body color it's the limited tungsten edition so it has the tungsten "chrome" so it should look Great with the pieces removed 👍👌✌️

That's blackout tape factory puts on the appliques. Roll you windows down, pull out the window guide cause tape goes behind there, use a heat gun to soften glue and tape, use thinner in a rag and wipe residue off. That's way quicker than a eraser wheel and whatever the hell goop stuff is. Trust me I do it all the time on all makes and models in bodyshop when there's a collision repair where you need to r+r that shit

This is nice but the bulging window belt trim on all rams suck. Even he has it on his truck. I wonder if some type of double sided tape would correct that.

Use baby oil on sticky adhesives. I am pretty sure motor oil would work as well. Trust me it is very easy to remove

The 5th gens 2019 and up have plastic trim held on by clips with holes drilled into the door frame...

In my opinion that "mod" makes the truck look dated. These 4th gen rams need all the help they can get to stay modern. All modern trucks have that "pillar less" look goin on.

Yo I don't know why people leave it on. You think people would do this after buying the truck they might of scratched it but also with the side bumper to stop someone with there door from hitting your truck. That also fads and looks no good do it in the hot sun and it comes right off and looks way cleaner.
