"That wasn't a layering error that was a layering tragedy." That goes for just about every aspect of the whole show. It's not an error, it's a tragedy.
I didn't break into your house for animation errors. I broke into your house to steal all of your buttons but hearing about animation errors sounds nice.
You sort of glossed over the fact that at 3:14, in the scene where rose starts swinging at the bug. Her sandwitch had magically regenerated the bite that was taken from it.
With the amount of times things just randomly disappear I fully believe that HGSA Rosemary's Stand is Cream. Think about it. Sage says Rose's stomach is like a portal to another dimension, just like Cream. And Rose says that when she stops eating the voices get louder. There are cases of Stands telling their Users what they do. So since Creams power is literally just eating things and consuming matter there's a good chance it's just constantly telling Rosemary "CONSUME, CONSUME, CONSUME!!!" And since Rosemary is an idiot she thinks it's giving her orders and not just telling her what it does. And since she never awakened it Cream would constantly tell her to "Consume" in hopes that she'll bring it out. But hey that's Just A Theory, A HGSA THEORY!!!!! THANKS FOR READING!!!!!
For button errors you could just provide a brief frame or two with a circle or arrow to indicate as they appear, if you really wanted to include them without explicitly mentioning them every time. Then we would only take a single lunar cycle or so to get through one episodes animating errors.
One thing I noticed... During Thyme's training montage, the third target she shoots looks like a normal size target and tree... But when it zooms out the target and tree appear to change size. That's either an animation error or one tiny target on one really thin tree. 1:33 for reference. Late edit: Never mind, I figured out what's wrong here, at least part of it. The tree is part of the background, so the target being attached to it, shadow and all, makes it look like the background is a flat painting that the target and Thyme are in front of. And then they shrunk the target to simulate the zoom out but forgot to adjust Thyme accordingly so the target just looks tiny. Not to mention this also causes the arrow to look like it was shot from much further down than where Thyme should have shot it, so this just compounds the error... I am starting to see why this is driving Dave insane. Just analyzing the sheer wrongness of this bit is starting to wear at my mind.
Buttons are such a tiny detail that I can understand omitting on frames where the character is too far away for them to fit, but they'd have to be pretty far away for that with how simple this artstyle is. Thinking of the artstyle, it's so simple that staying on model and consistent with the designs shouldn't be this hard for animators to do. All of this really implies a lack of quality control. I wouldn't be suprised if it came out that most of the animators were students that were promised class credit for an unpaid internship of working on this but with a Rebecca Sugar style of "I don't require the artists to stay on model because that might stifle their creativity".
With the button errors I think what would help is an unmentioned counter in the corner (if it’s not too much effort, clearly this show doesn’t serve itself with that kind of dedication)
Wait, so you're telling that the one scene at 4:28, where lava pours onto the floor isn't an error in any way? I swear moments like that in particular and the one where Snapdragon falling in love Sage because she yelled him really is when this show border on a parody of itself
In the scene where Sage is making the potion the mortar and pestle that she clips through the book disappears into the void the moment she sets it on the table. Also for Thyme’s magic bowstring there could have been two really simple and easy things they could have done to fix that. 1. They could have had her toss the thing into the air so it can extend to its full length, string included. Would have looked pretty cool. Or 2. Have the bowstring not appear until the bow is fully extended. At which point a thin string of magic light would have formed between the two points, stringing them together. Would have also looked pretty cool. Took me 3 seconds to think of that. Guess they didn’t have the budget for good ideas.
At 4:57, we can clearly see into the mortar Sage is using, and we don't much, if anything at all, of what she's mixing in it. But when she goes to pour what I'm assuming is a powder of some sort into the cauldron, it's somehow filled to the brim.
Animation error in 5:30 On top of this picture moving it seems to be a reference to the character Caleb Widogast from Critical Role. The error here is that there is clearly outlines showing he has something in his hand. Given the character and the shape of the object I'm going to take the guess that it's supposed to be fire, however it's colored the exact same as his jacket for some reason.
Hold on, what about the cliffs near Lavender and the Manticore in the battle flashback? Or the way Thyme's legs moved while dissing Rose's poor weapon care (like, without any movement to her skirt)?
Funny story about buttons. I once walked in on my parents watching Coraline when I was still way too young to be watching horror movies. I was probably about 3 or 4 at the time. It gave me a fear of buttons that I had until I was 10. Pretty dumb Ik. Watching this has reawakened that fear.
0:14 Parsley’s shirt buttons don’t even reach her shirt. You can see it, on her left side the shirt clearly ends, and then there are buttons. I don’t know how often that occurs, I just noticed it.
It feels like 2 seasons worth of errors. And here are things I noticed: at 4:48 Sage, cat and things on the table don't have shadows 6:06 shadows are mess, Sage's and Neppy's lighting is from above while center table's lighting comes from window to the left while stuff on bottom right don't have shadows at all Probably like buttons there are more scenes where shadows are random
3:40 Also, Sage's and Parsley's buttons are on opposite sides of each other. They should be on the same side since it's the same uniform. Same thing happens at 8:37 with Parsley's and Rosemary's buttons, while the buttons on Sage's coat are on the opposite side compared to Parsley's and Rosemary's.
Male and female clothes have buttons on opposite sides, so maybe it's some kind of subtle... No, of course it fucking isn't. But it could be a neat detail in a better show.
Not sure if it's an animation error, but the windows at 4:38 just make no goddamn sense. The little half-window above the left door is randomly cut off, since the one on the right is full-scale. On top of that, the window just to the right of where it was supposed to be is awkwardly pressed against the wall at an angle where the only use it has is to stare at whoever's looking through the window next to it.
5:13 the stuff on the table as far as i have seen does not change it just moves through magic especially that purple bottle it can't decide where it wants to be :p Also can we just apprciate that sage's buttons do not dissapear for 10 seconds? I think we should celebrate that
I can't remember if you mentioned this in previous videos or not but the buttons on Sage's vest are on the opposite side to the other girls'. Like, consistently, it shows up in multiple shots. That's such a weird thing to continuously do.
the best way to describe this show is, i think, a train that crashed due to no one planning the rails properly and the train conductor has no fucking clue how to compensate for that.
Rosemary's sword also changes direction mid flight. She's facing directly away from the tree so it should have got stuck in the tree but it changes direction and hits the rock beside her
Fun fact about buttons on clothing: the side of the garment the buttons are on is an indication of the gender of the wearer. I forget the exact gender set up, but, the reason was the servants of the house had to be able to button up for the masters. Based on that, and left handedness shunning, I would imagine if the buttons are from the right when the garment is worn face on, that would be a servant's job to button up.
_Keeps breaking into houses and demanding to be told Every animation error in High Guardian Spice episode 4, then proceeding to break into next house each time I learn it is a wrong house_
Just remember, this show was made with stolen money. Money promised to actual anime creators instead was sunk into this. The makers of this "show" complained that the amount of stolen money they got was insufficient, blaming it for their unprofessional terrible-quality product.
You missed one in ep 7 I think when hakone passes out the scrolls you can see time grab one but in next scene it's gone and in the next scene after that it's back again
The shot where the black smithing teacher has a hammer phasing through his arm has another error. If you pay attention to his left side you can see that he has two left arms.
