All these RU-vidr’s speak english. And they are the best. Not all are from England or USA. But imagine if all these RU-vidrs didn’t speak english, how famous and successful would they be? I wonder how many talented people with great ideas are there around the world but because they don’t speak english (well) they can’t have success on RU-vid. Ate least to make successful board games you don’t need to speak english. Great video

well it depends on your definition of success if its worldwide yes language is a barrier,, but if its just in your country it is not a barrier, everyone can be successful on youtube as long as the content is in demand,, but boardgames is a different case,,boardgame hobby is not that huge compared to other hobbies like Video games tv shows sports etc, boardgaming is a small community if u compare it to those that i mentioned, like u said "talented",,boardgame review is not really about talent its about selling your opinion if we re just talking about utube,,boardgame cannot gather millions of views bcus its a small community then if u add up the language barrier it is worse my point is boardgame is a small community and it is really hard to be popular when your content is about boardgames + language barrier boardgame channels is about business its about selling getting payed for to saying its a good game, thats it! u have popular youtubers in your country that cant speak english right? u can call them successful sorry for my english its my 3rd language XD

And for your content btw. :) So basically, for a new player like me, you still recommend playing only with the base game + Ix and only add Immortality when the game is getting a little stale for renewed freshness. Am I correct ? (Sorry for my broken English, French guy here ^^)

Isn’t the best game the one that you can get your friends to play with you? All of these look amazing but they would sadly sit on my shelf while I just played the games that people would show up for. Man I wish I could get paid to play boradgames all day like these folks do!

I feel you right there. One of the reasons Catan will always be in my top 10 is cause it’s the one game my family is always willing to play. I try to introduce heavier games but the interest isn’t there for them.

I really enjoy your content so please understand that this is coming from a place of love. But you really need a long hard think about the ethics of doing these kinds of compilations. The top 10/top 100 style lists are usually the biggest draw for many board game youtube channels and this certainly diverts views away from them. I know this takes a lot of effort to put together but I in my opinion it undermines efforts put in by other channels in recording and shooting their own content

Totally understand what you’re saying and I’ll hold off on posting these in the future if the other board game channels out there have a problem with it. And of course I will edit out any channels that don’t wish to be included in this video. All of the videos I pulled from are fairly old at this point considering that they covered 2022 games so I don’t think this video would have any significant impact on viewership, and if anything the hope was that this video would help people find channels they wouldn’t have discovered otherwise. When I published the first video in this series - the only messages/comments I received from other channels were either thankful for being included in the video or upset they weren’t featured. But I’m absolutely open to hearing feedback from my peers and if these videos are upsetting people I’ll put and end to the series.

To what orski said, this is being posted months and months after those videos were posted. It’s the second half of 2023 and this is best of 2022 videos. Plus it could actually bring some channels new viewers. I know there’s some in this that I had never seen that made me go check their channel because I liked their choices.

Maybe if you include a graph using the data then you created something new. It would be akin to a review paper in a science article which compiles information across other articles and authors to provide a summary of the current knowledge of a particular subject. Or something like doing a meta analysis which is sometimes more useful than any single paper which is a single data point.

@@orski78 For starters, you could ask. I'm checking my emails and i've not see a "hey, can i use your clip" email. I'd have said yes, but using peoples content without checking isn't really the done thing.
