2:20 How much is the damage variation between the rings because you did 36 damage there and you do less damage but how much damage you would do less in the 2nd ring?
@@rafaelpereiragomes1735 I'm pretty sure you 1 damage in the 3rd and 4th ring, but I can't remember exactly how much damage you do in the 2nd ring. I have a guide for defeating the Rubber Band boss that might have used an attack from the 2nd ring if you're interested!
@@ZXMany In 1:40 Of the video it did 16 damage, but in the 3rd ring. I didn't see Mario activate 1000 fold arms in the 2nd ring. Can you make a video that shows how much damage you do on every ring if you have time to do that? I know inner ring does 36 dmg.
Yeah, exactly! That's a big part of what makes this strategy so easy :) We experimented a bit more with this in my video where we look at if you can beat the fire vellumental boss without attacking it!
@@goommooster7572 Well I mean... YEAH. I like to think of this like FORESHADOWING OF THE CHAOS. And also that Paper Mario to is= Grotle to Machimp (How ironic is this name considering I failed the dude several times trying to fight BARRY-WHOS-LIKE-BLUE-BLUE-DA-RIVAL. But I now realised it’s ONLY his OVER-COMPETITIVELY NATURE and his COCKINESS of his personality and character that is the ONLY REEEAAALL DISLIKABLE CHARACTER FLAWS THAT HE HAS. I think I’ll like Blue-Blue, the FINAL BOSS of the Pokemon: Diamond Version
When you think about it, scissors is the easiest boss in this challenge. if you break the sheath immediately, he starts spamming final cut, but its the only truly dodgable attack in the game, so its possible to beat scissors without taking damage if you do that.
Yeah, some people have difficulty with dodging, so it can be a bit unforgiving, but it is possible to beat the boss without taking damage :) You can also beat Colored Pencils and King Olly without taking damage
Tip: With the Handaconda boss, the shape it's hand makes while you deal with the rings is supposed to be what it's "going" to choose, but instead if you pick what's strong against it, it'll pick what's strong against yours. for example, when I fought it, it made the scissors shape, so I knew it was going to choose paper instead, so I chose scissors. You can treat it like the handaconda is giving you tips on what to use (at least that was the case when I fought it)
Me: *at one hp after tape does his sticky drill attack hating my life because all the tape on the goddamn ground and just wanting to beat the boss* Tape: I'll f*ckin' do it again
Idr how its called but go to a video about kittens and bowser's fury and he does like a jail in one part. He says he done 4 floors. 3 of them have 20 cats and the last one have nine cats.
ZXmany after defeating colored pencils: “We can’t postpone tape any longer.” Water vellumental, PM gooper blooper, and Mega PM Pokey: *sad bosses before tape that weren’t mentioned yet noises*
When I fought hole punch, I didn't even know how to avoid the super attack with the earth vellumental, but luckily I had enough to tank it with blocks, so I beat him unintendedly
Yeah! I had a playthrough where I was rushing through the game and kept my HP pretty low (around 70-95) and I was struggling with bosses there! It was fun to do every boss at 50 as a challenge!
@@skimbeeble8115 There's a list of glitches in the "Modern Paper Mario Speedrunning" Discord :) The biggest glitch right now is probably station clip, but there are a few leads that look hopeful that people are experimenting with
I’ve been sort of doing this myself (except 70hp since you literally can’t skip the heart up in the earth v shrine) and it makes the whole game much harder and ups the replay value in my opinion
I love the Rubber Band hidden dialogue. Wonder why they include it, however thanks for this video, that Pokémon reference was hilarious, and I guess you needed a lot of tries against this bosses, such dedication is ammirable.
Thanks so much for the comment! Yeah, the video was a lot of fun to make, a lot of attempts went into it, and I'm really glad I could share it with you guys :)
2 jump attacks removes a total of 8 staples, but 1000 fold arms removes 10 staples and also does 50 damage. When the stapler is reloading, 1000 Fold Arms does 100 damage, but +1 x2 Legendary Boots does 198 damage.
How about beating all the bosses without exploiting optional weaknesses? I've already done this, for example, earth Vellumental without using 1000 fold arms, or the sumo bro without killing the grounded sumo's
Wow, this is quite a unique challenge, I like it. I also have a video idea, how many holes can hole punch make in Mario? It would be interesting to see if there is a hard limit or if it varies depending on how much max hp you have. Also seeing it halve a high amount of hp would just be really neat.
Fun fact, you can beat the folded thunder sumo without killing his kids, just use all of your iron boots, which you can buy legendary of, to slowly chip away at his health, I did this mostly because I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to murder the little ankle biters,
That's awesome, really glad you enjoyed it, thanks so much for checking it out, and I really appreciate you subscribing! I have something similar to this planned for the near future, hope you enjoy that one too :)
I was thinking it might have come across like that 😂 Hopefully RU-vid's captioning system doesn't read it that way 😂 Have a great day, thank you for the comment!
3 bosses are currently possible to beat without taking damage :) I might have some new ideas up my sleeves though, and I might have already been working on this, so keep an eye out for that video!
They should add 50 HP dialogue: Coloured Pencils: How are you that strong? Or am I super easy- Rubber band: M-mario...I didn’t realise it wasn’t supposed to end like this...50 HP without anything is a hardcore...**Death** Hole punch: You dance like hardcore! I can’t dance tha- Tape: *Oi!!! That is impossible! You were supposed to-* Scissors: **Immediately falls over** Stapler: **Breaks itself**
That's such a funny idea 😂 There are a lot of parts of the game where there's dialogue that's similar to other parts but slightly different, so it would've been really cool to have a challenge mod where bosses can have different dialogue if you face them with different HP values!
CP: What? Is It Mario? The One Who Defeated The EV? RB: M-mario... I Have Got Entertained, I am the star, the lead actor, etc. What? Is it Mario? The one who defeated the WV? HP: 50 hp is a tough challenge, make sure to, *ded* Tape: OI! DAT HOITS, YOU ARE DOITY, I-I, eh, fuggedaboutit Scissors: what? I AM GOING TO THE AIR VELLUMENTAL TUNDRA TO DEFEAT YOU, WHA- *ded* Stapler: oh no! I hope you are teared apart, oh no- *ded*
@@elephant35e Good job! Yeah, it's really RNG-dependent, it can go great or horribly, and a lot of it is based on luck. With other bosses, you can use the same strategy every time and it will always work if you do it right, but Tape is so luck-dependent D:
i was yelling thru the screen for u to use the thousand fold arms on stapler since it knocks down 2 extra staples, also u could use legendary iron boots with the +1 panel and the x2 panel to deal a lot of damage, also it gives u a lot of time to react when scissors uses the final cut attack so if u break the cover on the first turn u don’t have to worry about damage! also also, u can get rid of all the rubber bands and hit the thousand fold arms attack in the first turn as well as aim ur arms to ur left in the final turn so u don’t have to worry about getting damaged on that turn
You make these bosses look easy When I play games I do decent though I do die a lot for example it took my like 8 tries to beat the rubber band boss I would mostly struggle on the end part where he swings back and forth and then I rage Now a days I can beat it easily
The more you do it, the easier it gets :) I struggled on a lot of bosses when I first tried them too. Some games are sooo good, and it is satisfying to get good at things after putting in some effort :D
@@addsterchallenger4779 Yeah, I'm going to keep making Paper Mario videos, but I'm also going to make videos about other games also :) I like testing what's possible with games and editing the code of a game to see what happens, I think it's really interesting to see!
Thanks for the comment! I only realized I didn't have iron boots and a shiny hammer until I entered the fight, and I thought I'd just rather finish the boss than go look for better weapons. Mostly being lazy and stubborn I guess haha
I don't think that can be skipped, I think the only way to have 50 HP for the whole game is to edit the game's save data to reduce your HP to 50 after getting that heart
@Braelyn Sutton I have a very in-depth guide on that on my channel for anyone who's interested! I'll add it in my next comment in case RU-vid filters it:
That's a really interesting idea! I think any% speedruns would try to do this and be as efficient as possible at this :) SRC has a section for Paper Mario: The Origami King, and some people have completed the whole game (any%) in about 7 hours
@@ZXMany Actually, if you tap the control stick for a split second and then put it back to neutral before Mario's foot hits the ground again, you move, but it doesn't count as a step. This would save a lot of steps, but it's certainly not making it into any speedruns.
@@epikitee2186 Oh my goodness, that's hilarious! I'll have to experiment with that. I'm not sure if the game counts footsteps until you get the footstep tracker that gives you coins because I have this value in a save game from a file that's early in the game: "footstep_count" : 0
@@ZXMany Yeah, gliding around on one leg and technically never walking is always great. I don't know why I always feel compelled to do it in every game I can, but I do.
I get why you hate the tape boss. I hate the boss because of the tape it leaves on the ring area. Once the tape stuck all four ring panels together, and I was just toast.
Thanks so much for the comment! It was really cool to see that every boss could be beat with 50 HP :D I very recently made a video where we try taking on every boss with only 10 HP if you're interested in more!
I've got an idea challenge: Is it posible to beat PM:TOK bosses without 1k fold arms? Rules: Cannot use 1k fold arms except to finish the boss (Ex. You can only use 1k fold arms to throw rubber band but can't for damaging purpose) You can use healing item You can use vellumentals
That's a cool idea :) I think it can be done, if you're allowed to use the 1000-fold-arms on bosses that need it to be defeated, like phase 2 of rubber band, finishing phase 1 of rubber band, and the fire vellumental
This man is making his own challenges because apparently the ones in the game aren't hard enough. Meanwhile, I'm playing the same boss eight times with 200 HP...
Olivia is so disappointed that Mario lost his face while FACEing the Disco Devil, but in some frames Mario actually has one of his eyes- Edit: Imagine if you had to fite the rowdy rusher yape with his Nintendo was drunk-made song Edit 2: Wait a minute you can SLIDE the panels in boss battles? I BEAT KING OLLY AND ALL THE OTHER BOSSES WITHOUT KNOWING YOU COULD SLIDE?! Edit 3: I mean, yeah, I slid the Olivia Hammer magic circle, but shut up, whatever.
@@mailingcat i beat scissors first try as well, but didn't break the cover on the first round, but I had no idea you could use the Ice vellumental to freeze it, so the battle took longer than it should have
That's a good challenge! Some bosses are possible but tough, and others (like the Fire Vellumental or Rubber Band) become impossible because you need the 1000-fold-arms to finish them off
