What are your top 5 CC albums? For the record, Cannibal Corpse does not have bad albums. They just have a few weaker albums (imo) that I don’t listen to as much as others in their discography. That’s what this tier list is. I still own every album on vinyl (except Evisceration Plague) and cassette. If I truly hated an album I would not be buying a physical copy. Thanks for watching!! ❤
Top 5 Cannibal albums 1. Eaten Back to Life 2. Butchered at Birth 3. Tomb of The Mutilated 4. The Bleeding 5. Vile All the albums after these are very good, I just don't need them. Nothing but respect for Cannibal, they've never sold out.
Good and understandable list 🙂👍🏻 Just for personal and historic reasons as well as for Kaiya's records 😀: my favourite is TOTM, BAB is on a second place and the first and fourth albums sharing spots 3 and 4 🙂 Agree to have "Vile" for one and only album I might need from the Corpsegrinder "era" (it does not really matter actually but it should be ok, at least I heard it sometime ago 🙂). "I just don't need" any other albums of them, in physical copies at least 🙂, but you never know when there is a good edition for a reasonable price 😀 Other albums are probably good/excellent within the genre (listened to a couple more and single tracks here and there), just I have lost the interest 😯🙂 Re "not solding out", I do not know. Why should they? I think they are ok within this "genre" of pop/"rock" music and this business. And well deserved, I think, as this is their job and they do it and achieve success with hard work and professionalism.
I kind of agree with her...mostly because Chris's highs were already degrading to shit like tell me you didn't laugh during the pickaxe murders at least once lol
I would suggest checking out the catalogs of these death metal legends: 1) OBITUARY - 'Slowly we rot' (1989)... 'Cause of death' (1990)... 'The end complete' (1992)... 'World demise' (1994)... 'Dying of everything' (2023) EP's - 'Left to die' (2008)... 'Ten thousand ways to die' (2016) 2) SUFFOCATION - 'Effigy of the forgotten' (1991)... 'Breeding the spawn' (1993)... 'Pierced from within' (1995) ... 'Souls to deny' (2004) ... 'Suffocation' (2006)... 'Blood Oath' (2009) ... 'Pinnacle of bedlam' (2013)... '...Of the dark light' (2017)... 'Hymns from the Apocrypha' (2023) EP's - 'Human waste' (1991)... 'Despise the Sun' (1998) 3) MALEVOLENT CREATION - 'The Ten Commandments' (1991)... 'Retribution' (1992)... 'Stillborn' (1993)... 'Eternal' (1995)... 'In cold blood' (1997)... 'The fine art of murder' (1998)... 'Envenomed' (2000)... 'The will to kill' (2002)... 'Warkult' (2004) ... 'Doomsday X' (2007)... 'Invidious dominion' (2010)... "Dead man's path" (2015)... "The 13th Beast" (2019) My top 5 Cannibal Corpse albums (in no particular order): 1) Butchered at birth... 2) The wretched spawn ... 3) Kill... 4) Tomb of the mutilated ... 5) Evisceration plague 💀💀💀💀💀 I recommend for 1 album review for each of those 3 death metal bands: 🤘🤘 1) OBITUARY - 'Frozen in time' 2) SUFFOCATION - 'Effigy of the forgotten' 3) MALEVOLENT CREATION - 'Retribution'
Really like your Ranking! your not the only one with a favortism of Bloodthirst, great video My top 5 1. Skeletal Domain 2. Violence Unimagine 3. Kill 4. Chaos Horrific 5. Red Before Black
Always awesome to see where people rank this bands albums, with distinct eras and so much consistency in their discography you really can't go wrong with any of their stuff! I will say, The wretched spawn is sick af and worth getting into!!
cool video, i remember your first videos reacting to metal where you just get started with this genre, now you gave us your personal ranking of whole CC discography lol all the best for you 🤘
Gallery of Suicide The Bleeding Bloodthirst Tomb of the Mutilated Vile The rest can fight among themselves EDIT: After Bloodthirst each album started to became a tad bland with only one or two songs that might stick out as good like Scourge of Iron & Frantic Disembowelment. Almost like they started producing quantity instead of quality. Don't get me wrong I really like Cannibal Corpse, they are one of my favourite death metal bands just the newer ones just don't seem to hit the mark for me. Eaten Back to Life has more catchy and memorable songs than the last couple of newer releases put together. This is all from my point of view of course which will vasty differ to others, horns up \m/
Torture and Violence Unimagined are two of my favorite records. Scourge of Iron is probably my most listened to CC song. I actually don't think I've ever listened to Bloodthirst and will definitely check it out since you rated it so high. I completely agree that in most cases keeping albums short and punchy is key. I think I liked Violence Unimagined so much because it almost felt like a heavier Terror record at times. CC had some Hardcore influence on that record and I'm here for it.
Whoa....The Bleeding in C tier?lol Definitely agree with you on Butchered being my fave from the Barnes era for sure just picked up a OG copy on cd a week ago
Cannibal Corpse is very consistent and they have no bad albums, so rankings are quite different for everyone. My top 10 will move around some over time. 1. Kill 2. The Bleeding 3. Tomb of the Mutilated 4. The Wretched Spawn 5. Torture 6. Bloodthirst 7. A Skeletal Domain 8. Violence Unimagined 9. Evisceration Plague 10. Chaos Horrific 11. Butchered at Birth 12. Gallery of Suicide 13. Red Before Black 14. Gore Obsessed 15. Vile 16. Eaten Back to Life
Can never argue with a list based on personal feelings! Always interesting to see these based on when people jump in with the band. My first one was Eaten picked up in 1996, then grabbed the others (which wasn't many at the time!). The Bleeding and Eaten got the most plays from me then, I always found Butchered quite inpenetrable. I bought Vile the day it came out and loved the change, but for me - which you rate quite low! - Gallery of Suicide is my favourite. Gallery, Vile and Eaten are my S tier albums for sure. Until recently I had every album, but I decided I don't need anything after Kill (a good one for me to end on).
The Bleeding and Gallery of Suicide are the best . And the year's of Pat Obrien there greatest guitarist 🎸. Absolutely Disgusting how they treated him when he had is problems 😢
I don't know the details behind the scenes of course, but I don't think they had any choice but to let him go (if that's what you mean). It would have been extremely difficult to tour outside the US with a band member who has a record. Most countries wouldn't have let him in.
Never seen someone rank Gore Obsessed so high, maybe il give it another full listen. What songs were you playing in the background? One sounded like Coverkillernations intro if youre familiar with him
Very well done! But I really don't understand how "tomb of the Mutilated" could be underrated. Maybe it's a different point of view between Europe and America, cuz in America "The Bleeding" sold more copies and is probably the catchiest album and the most popular ... but here in Europe "Tomb of the Mutilated" is seen as the one big classic of CC, with there biggest "hit" "Hammer Smashed Face" as opener of course. And maybe the fact that the album was on the index and could not be sold openly in Germany and maybe also some other countries in Europe added to the myth
Danggg I was with all your takes until The Wretched Spawn because that’s my favorite. That’s ok though, I’ll forgive you. Love the love for Gore Obsessed though because that one is underrated imo
I’m surprised you disliked The Bleeding so much! I didn’t get that from your other videos! Regardless of which Tier, I don’t think I could say only two albums are worse. Fun video!
I really enjoyed watching this video and you're obviously entitled to your opinions about Cannibal Corpse albums. It's really hard to tell where I'd rank most albums and which ones my favourites are. I have the softest spot for Gallery of Suicide because it's the first album I bought, but I agree it has too many tracks that didn't need to be there. I think the first eight songs are almost all that was needed. I think that Vile is like a rebirth for the band and the band sounds really refreshed on that album. The Bleeding has a few songs I like, but Barnes' vocals sound really hoarse and shot to hell, which I think was from smoking too much.
Tomb was the first CC album I heard, and I'm sure nostalgia has something to do with it, but it's still my favorite among them. It's just relentless from start to finish. Granted, there are a couple of songs on it that I'm not that fond of (Necrop... and Post Mortal), but all the others are killer! I'm totally with you regarding The Bleeding. It's definitely my least favorite of the Barnes era. I still like it, but I don't listen to it that often. My top 5: 1. Tomb 2. Butchered 3. Kill 4. Vile 5. Probably Evisceration Plague, but on another day I might have said Wretched or Bloodthirst
The bleeding is one of the best! And I think you're right, it's because of that Florida sound. It's got that FL groove. Also history shows with many other bands albums, a lot of the best stuff comes out of their tension and strife.
My top 5: 1. Tomb of the mutilated. I will never forget listening to Necropedophile for the first time. The end with the kids playing traumatized me. Barnes is fucked up 2. The bleeding. A bit more toned down in terms of lyrics, but it is the small things in this album that makes it disturbing, e.g. Barnes’ choking sound during “Force fed broken glass”. 3. Butchered at birth. Brutral from start to finish, lyrics nasty, album cover, etc. 4. Kill. Such a solid ass album from dtart to finish. George’s vocals are top notch. 5. Bloodthirst. That album cover will never not disturb me.
Agree with 99% of your list! I think I would pull VU up to the top and I am totally obsessed with the new one! Maybe it’ll grow on you. And if it doesn’t that’s okay too haha. Well done tho!👏 Hope to see you do more of these
I completely disagree with the ranking. For example bleeding is my favorite and I like the spawn. But we all like different things. Love the passion. I will come back to watch your videos. Thank you.
1. Eaten Back To Life 2. Red Before Black 3. The Wretched Spawn 4. Gallery Of Suicide 5. Bloodthirst 6. Torture 7. A Skeletal Domain 8. Gore Obsessed 9. Vile 10. The Bleeding 11. Kill 12. Evisceration Plague 13. Violence Unimagined 14. Chaos Horrific 15. Tomb Of The Mutilated 16. Butchered At Birth
All albums are great, but these are the ones I play the most constantly. 1. Butchered at Birth 2. The Bleeding 3. Tomb of the Mutilated 4. Torture 5. Vile
You should try Gallery of Suicide again. For some reason I kind of skipped over that album forever until I actually listened to some full songs on shuffle. Now I have almost every song favorited on apple music
Wretched in D tier is a wild take but I respect the opinion lol otherwise our rankings are pretty close! Top 5 for me: 1. Torture 2. Bloodthirst 3. Violence Unimagined 4. Wretched Spawn 5. Red Before Black
Well I'm with you on Butchered at Birth, my favorite from the Barnes era! But I love Gallery and dig some Wretched. I would suggest revisiting Wretched and just listen to the tracks Frantic Disembowelment and They Deserve to Die. Those tracks are intense, fast, technical and just brutal all mixed together. There is some filler on that album tho so just stick with those tracks!
I just cannot get into anything with the corpse grinder era Chris Barnes, and the rest of the original members had the most brutal sound not to be duplicated
All their stuff sounds identical to me so it's whatever 😂 not in a bad way either necessarily, same as ac/dc. However, gallery of suicide was the first album I got so...? lol corpsegrinder beats the shit out of Barnes either way
Kick gore obsessed to D and wretched spawn to S. GO is the most meh out of any George era album imo. And WS is one of their best works in their entire discography.
Hey you do you but we'll see how this ranking stacks up in 10+ years when you get some actual listening time under your belt, I guarantee your list will be completely different and/or you'll be out of the scene completely. Hopefully you stick around....time will tell.
S - Tomb of the Mutilated, Kill, Torture, Violence Unimagined A - The Bleeding, Bloodthirst, The Wretched Spawn B - Butchered at Birth, A Skeletal Domain, Red Before Black, Chaos Horrific C - Eaten Back To Life, Vile, Gallery of Suicide D - Evisceration Plague, Gore Obsessed
Kill is one of the best Death Metal albums of all time Easily top 5 Chris sucks Rating Barnes above George just makes this list invalid. It’s a joke. It’s like saying Guns n Roses aren’t the most overrated band of all time…. Rating Kill as anything less at an S tier is criminal
I like the Chris era albums the most honestly cuz Bob Rusay created such great and catchy riffs and the songs are more barbaric. After Chris leaving and Bob getting fired, it seemed that the band sorta copy and pasted everything but that’s just my opinion.
