Losing a child at the beach is any parents worst nightmare...
@tealsettlemire1728
@tealsettlemire1728 Год назад
I was actually lost at the beach when I was around seven years old. My Mum, my brother, and I were in Hawaii, and I think we were at Hanauma Bay on O'ahu. My Mum was taking me and my brother out snorkeling one at a time. I don't even remember why I left the beach towels, anymore, but I couldn't find my Mum or the way back to the beach towels. My Mum found me half an hour to an hour later. She was so upset with me. I felt even worse, because she'd lost her waterproof wallet while looking for me. She had to cancel her credit/debit card(s?).

Having spent years in the ocean I keep eyes on both kids 100% of the time from the second the car door opens at the parking lot before we even hit the sand. It's fun for them and exhausting for me but worth every second. It only takes a half a moment, less than the blink of an eye, for a child to be taken forever, by the ocean or kidnapper. As parents we don't get to relax and have eyes off unless we have nanny or family assigned to be the watch hawk. They are precious and worth every effort. My heart goes out to these parents 💔 so stressful

Thanks to parents like you, I’m only 22 now but as a kid I never understood or appreciated how hard my parents worked to give me a good upbringing & to keep me safe, especially with them having a vacation home at the beach. I can’t imagine having kids, especially at the beach. It’s fun & beautiful for the kids but a dangerous place realistically
@a.w.s.9227
@a.w.s.9227 Год назад
@@scotthill1600 I am so happy you got to experience that! It is worth every second and when you become a parent the ways you have fun change. Playing with the kids replaces other things and keeping them safe is fulfilling and important. You think you know love but when you become a parent it just cracks open your heart and you love them more than you can even imagine 🥰. It's so funny looking back to being a nanny on an island for the resorts and thinking 'why would these people travel as a family then hire me to play with their kids?!?!" And now I know 🤣 and I have so much respect that they took that expense to make sure their kids were safe on the beach and by the pool so they could have some well deserved down time. It was a good lesson for me to never judge another parent. Asking for help should be normalized and you can't parent well ego-first! Unsolicited advice 😁 You will make a better parent than you may realize and you have a leg up because you have seen how to do it properly first hand. I definitely recommend traveling and doing all the things you want to and become as financially stable as possible before you settle down 🥰. Then you will have amazing stories and experience to take your kids on adventures. Also take into careful consideration the family and upbringing of your mate, they will be the child's other parent and everything they do will affect you and determine how your kids grow up so very important to take health and family and goals and religion into consideration. Opposites/fiery passion are fun while dating but cohesive energy works well for marriage and parenting 😊 Edit spelling

A lot of people under estimate how dangerous the Australian sun can be. The poor lady at the end was suffering from heat exhaustion and probably dehydration along with huge levels of stress. I'm a carpenter who has spent almost fifty years living in Queensland Australia. I work all day in the heat and sun and in summer I drink around five litres of water a day along with electrolyte replacement drinks. I've seen tough experienced builders taken to hospital because they passed out in the heat. That poor lady was going through a tough experience in forty degree heat and had probably not drank nearly enough water. I'm so glad the end result was good but I also think she needed to go to the hospital to be checked out. It's a horrible experience for her and potentially dangerous

I wish more people understood how to help kids (and adults) who are in distress. People want to touch, talk, encourage-but if you’re already super overwhelmed, that interference makes it worse. You have to back off and give them time and a calm, low-stimuli environment until the flood of distress can decrease. As an autistic person, my absolute NIGHTMARE is people getting in my face or touching me when I’m in distress or overwhelmed. It’s like being pushed under when you’re drowning. If someone isn’t responding, don’t push. Back off, stay nearby, give it time.

They didn't speak any English, so I was trying to explain in broken Greek that my parents were still in the water as we were sailing away, while my six year old sister was baby sat by the captain's wife and a bunch of Itallian tourists (she was little, cute and blond, so naturally she was very exciting). Eventually, after a game of charades and lots of pointing, they let me use the tannoy and shout for them to come out of the water. It's still a core memory Imao

Some of these parents need to chill out. You have to calm down or you’re going to accomplish nothing and yes I do speak from experience. There’s plenty of time to freak out and scream and cry later but you have to keep your head on and keep calm and search for them.

Lilly, I think you need to open your mind and soften your heart! Not all kids are capable of communicating, and sometimes the parents aren't either. That would be like being mad at the lifeguards for not being multilingual!! Maybe THEY should learn to communicate! See? In this world you train your kids NOT to talk to strangers! To avoid them etc. That little boy that threw sand, that's for his own safety! I have a deaf daughter!!! There are autistic children that can't communicate! Accidents happen, we all just need to stand together and watch out for one another, and especially the children!

Yes, I was taught since I could speak to say "police" "Im lost", my address, my city, my oarents names & was instructed to stay put in the place where I got lost, that way they coud trace back thwir steps & find me....(& of course never ever go anywhere with someone who was not a cop. Nowadays I wouldnt go anywhere near a cop lol) Also I am spanish, knowing how to say those basic things in english is vital, it is the language of the world.
@lyvsix
@lyvsix Год назад
@@amandastakeonit7402 i don't think she was mad in her comment. Of course there are exceptions (like your child). But lets face it, a kid not knowing how to say "lost" "mom" "help" is usually not the kid's inability to do so, it is the parents not teaching basic skills. And of course we all teach kids to not trust strangers butyou also need to teach them to trust the police (and lifeguards to a kid probably look very similar). Its not about being multilingual but teaxhing 3 words in english is really not that hard. Wether we like it or not some parents are simply not good enough at their job as parwnts & that is just reality.

Its always scary when littles go missing. Wether the just walk off or they get lost in a crowd. My oldest is autistic and used to pull random disappearing acts on me. Its was always scary. He even once opened the door and decided to go explore the neighborhood when he was 5. He was gone for almost 45 minutes before we finally found him. It was the longest he has ever been gone. I collapsed into the chair and just cried with relief. My duaghter recalls a time where she was went hiking with her best friend and her family. She said her best friend and her little brother went up the trail and lost sight of the mom. They were picking flowers and it was getting dark. They realized they had gotten lost. Her friend wanted to keep going, but my daughter didn't want to. The mom said she was momentarily distracted with the youngest daughter in the stroller. When she looked up everyone was gone. She started calling for them and started getting beyond worried. She eventually started whistling and they heard her. She rounded her daughter and mine for running off and giving her heart failure. She was just glad everyone was fine and that they had been reunited. My daughter's friend learned an important lesson about running off that day.
