So I just started reading Clamps works And xxxholic happens to be the first I read Now I am wondering what happens after the 213ch Is there a series after it or was it just left behind Since many of the questions are left unanswered
the first time i watched code geass i noticed right away how lelouch looks like kamui (X) and suzaku looks like syaoran (TRC) .. nunally also looks a bit similar to kotori (X)
As a 90s kid and HUGE CLAMP fan, this is super awesome to find after all these years. It's about time somebody made a video about all of CLAMPS work, and it's refreshing to see somebody is as big of a fan to know about every single one. Thank you for making this
I remember watching a lot of Clamp stuff back then: Cardcaptor Sakura, Angelic Layer, Chobits and Tsubasa Chronicles. Good times. Madhouse really need to remake Tsubasa Chronicles since they love to animate Clamp stuff, shame that it get cut short for its anime. Also when found out they make Jotaro/Kakyoin bl doujinshi that is infamous in JoJo fandom lol. They love that ship so much that some characters is inpired by it (Wish is obvious) and they even reference the doujin in the first Clamp in Wonderland. Still laughing about it.
Hariadi Setjo just google jotakak Clamp doujin then it will come up. Some sites have the doujin is NSFW so be careful. The doujin itself is not risque in anyway but the egg baby implication lol, hence the "Kakyoin did you lay this egg?" memes.
Wow.. just really down on me that those epic works by CLAMP like ccs, x and clover existed since before millenium year (2000). 20 years later here I am still feeling like I have wings when reading those manga.. magical works!
2006 when they made the designs to Code Geass was some of the amazing character art I’ve seen for a 2006 anime. It really was a pinnacle of the golden age. And one of my personal favorite anime series. Hold on I’m gonna start crying 😭😭😭
Jimmy Bv Jimmy Bv They never had a fallout. There was a time when they went on hiatus (around the middle of Kobato) due to Mokona's (their main designer) arthritis, and it was also because of it that Kobato ended abruptly. There were rumors about Nekoi wanting to take over Mokona's spot which caused some friction between the members, but it was ultimately denied by them (also backed up by the fact that she's the main designer on xxxHolic and Tsubasa) and they came back to work on the continuation of xxxHolic after a long break they all decided to take while Mokona recovered. Tsubasa World Chronicle was a project Nanase Ohkawa (their leader and story writer) came up with during said break and Legal Drug had been on hiatus for quite a long time before all of this even happened, supposedly due to a lack of ideas on how to continue the story. As for why they weren't any anime from 2011 to 2017 it's because after the fiasco that the Tsubasa anime was (not withstanding the OVAs which Ohkawa personally supervised) they grew weary of animation studios and decided not to keep granting the necessary rights for the usage of their works for anime, coming back just recently with CCS Clear Card Arc, which is also written and supervised by Ohkawa herself. As a final note they've said themselves that they'll probably never finish X/1999 because it's been so much time since they last worked on it that they can't really be bothered to pick it up again and instead would like to focus on their current projects.
@@amritagsk It's a shame Tokyo Babylon remake had that character design plagiarism drama. But at least we are getting a remake of Magical Knight Rayearth
I haven't watched much of the animé based on their work, except for Magic Knight Rayearth which was my first one and Card Captor Sakura, but I have read most of their manga and definitley love their style.
Code Geass is close, though they only did the character designs it's what made that show so iconic for me. I remember when everyone's first reaction was that their limbs were so long but I love the designs and style.
I swear every time I hear tsubasa's opening I frown cause that anime deserves more. The anime doesn't even touch the tip of the iceberg of the story. The manga is soooo good :--(
For me the only good thing about the anime is its soundtrack, which is really amazing. But as for the drawing and the story... And the same goes about xxxHolic. I looove both mangas, I could stare at the drawings forever, but I can't stand the anime ones. I wish they've drawn them better, honestly 💔
CLAMP made very detailed characters, and I get disappointed when an animation studio cannot achieve the details, the same with the manga. And why is that some of the story from the manga are not the same in anime? Is it something that the Animation Studio will buy the works of manga artists and may do some alterations? Like Tsubasa Chronicle, it was so different! I need to read the manga and boom there I knew the plot. Also, the designing of xxxholic, in manga it was really detailed that would made me print every pages especially when we talk about Yuuko's appearance. The anime version was kinda different in creating the same drawings. Maybe it would be more difficult for them because of the time lapses to make. Additionally, this 2021. There will be a remake of Tokyo Babylon which had its OVA by Madhouse before by this time it will be done by GoHands. The trailer sucks in retaining the character design. I have loved CLAMP because of their designs, even made me to be an artists. Still, I am looking for an innovative and advance animation studio that could NOT make any alterations in character designs. HUHUHU T______T
With animes, they're rarely 1:1 with the manga (even something like Shingeki no Kyojin, which otherwise follows the manga to a T, took some liberties), but the reason why can vary. Sometimes the mangaka him-/herself ask for a change, sometimes it's changed to avoid censorship (Japanese TV is fairly strict about what can and cannot be shown on screen, by law), but in CLAMP's case, more often than not, the changes happen because the anime goes into production up to years before the manga finishes (probably due to their immense popularity, especially during their peaktime in the 90's and early 00's, as they never made an endless story like Naruto or One Piece are, where it would be impossible to wait for the end of the manga). CCS, X, Tsubasa, those were all made prior to the manga finishing (X is on hiatus for decades now). Sometimes they were far enough to be able to make an educated guess on how the story's going to wrap up, sometimes they were able to make different versions, and sometimes they took a shot in the opposite direction of where the story was actually going. And then some studios just aren't versed enough to do certain stories justice (just think of Studio Pierrot and Tokyo Ghoul, there was no way that was going to go well, and it certainly didn't). Sometimes CLAMP works with the studios though. So yeah, Tsubasa got an anime waaaaaay too early, that's why the story derailed completely around halfway. And why the OVAs were made differently. Though I'm still waiting for them to finally adapt the Infinity Arc! Like, that's my only critique of CLAMP: the amount of stories on hiatus and not adapted arcs is ridiculous (though often not their fault directly).
You could've put X Movie ending in the list (Forever Love, by X Japan). The movie and the TV series are totally different, even the musics used at each of them (there was no op at the movie) Tsubasa Chronicles OVAs deserve space too (Production IG doing, as Bee Train was practically kicked out)
Cool, though I want to point that the "X Japan Rusty Nail" anime video was NOT done by CLAMP. It was instead animated by Mook Animation and designed by an animator named Hitoshi Haga.
1:29 Nice to see the Dukylon boys got some sort of animated form...seriously CLAMP School Defenders Dukylon is quite underrated. Never seen animated versions of Wish or Clover before though! Also fun fact Angelic Layer and Chobits exist in the same universe! Icchan from AL later goes on to become the inventor who invents Chi. Kaede (Blanche's deus in AL) is also the older sister of Minoru from Chobits, though it's mentioned that she has passed away between the two series.
leyeed neew If you get an app called AnimeGT they have both of those on there for free with no adds and they also have almost every anime and manga on there🙂
Yeah I hesitated watching it until now. It's not bad. I just get confused as to why she needs to focus on clear cards when she just transformed the Clow Cards to Sakura Cards.
