"Every copy of Super Mario 64 is personalized" reminds me of a Tumblr post where someone had the idea for a book released with 11 (was it 11?) different endings, so that the fans wouldn't agree with other people's endings and whatnot. That's an interesting idea

Even as just a head, Wario kinda thicc not gonna lie.

The secret is that youtubers HAVE to say the whole thing is fake, they can’t draw any attention towards it possibly being real because they’ve already been cursed by the 1995/07/29 build of the game. If they said it was real and provided proof it could lead to sinister consequences, most likely with the Wario Apparition. They’re being held hostage by the personalized copies. For their sakes, do not trust their words, and do not research the beta build yourselves.

I really love this concept because it just opens the door for people to make tons of creative, fun, or creepy scenarios. I've noticed a lot of people like to fixate on the wario thing, which is fine, but there is just so much you could do. I've also just adopted making stuff up when talking about Mario 64. Small things, like being able to see the courtyard from the top of Peach's castle, or secret windows outside that warped you to the top floor. It's just such a neat idea!

i think the rumor came from people tilting cartridges, this would then break the game and change a lot of things. people where to scared to do it with their own copy so they would rent, then break it, then someone else would rent it without knowing and experience the same issues.

I saw this head in Nintendo E3 1995 Trailer with releases of new games coming out in 1996 even one of the games (Air Ride) postponed the released date and released for the GameCube in 2001

i really respect the original creators drive for creating this, i too really miss video game rumors, and im really glad he decided to make a story in the same way as these rumors from the years have been made, god this made me so nostalgic.

Haha holy shit, you're the first person who mentioned Charles Martinet doing the voice for the Wario head before he was officially hired, and that made me remember that at a panel at Galaxycon Richmond this year he mentioned doing the voice for floating heads at an E3-like presentation. I never made that connection that this is what he was talking about.

When I played Mario 64 as a little kid, I swear the castle garden looked different. I remembered there being a garden that yoshi would eat fruit from and that you were able to hit him but he wouldn’t get hurt. It looked similar to the peach’s castle trophy in Melee. Although I only played it a few times as a little kid at my cousins house and have no other memories of the game besides pulling mario’s face. It wasn’t until like 10 years later in 2013 when I got it on the Wii VC that my memory was all wrong.

It’s weird how in sonic CD, an actual creepy image exists in the game. Plus the creepy American boss music, death music, etc Also in starfox, I forget how, but there is a creepy extra world in you get a game over or something along those lines. In knuckles chaotix, If you get the bad ending, the music pitches down, and Giga metal sonic wins with a destroyed world, Plus the death animation is just..

I think I have one of these "every copy is personalized" experiences. But not for Super Mario 64, instead it's for Super Mario Sunshine, a game that fits my age range much better for weird experiences than Mario 64. I replayed Super Mario Sunshine again, just for the nostalgic feeling to completely overwhelm me, as I was also streaming Avatar: The Last Airbender at the same time, so I could get that mid-2000's feel. However, when I got my first blue coin shine, I noticed that the price was 10 blue coins. Even though this price remains the same throughout the entire game, I have memories of the first blue coin shine needing only 5 blue coins. Either I just remembered wrong, or my copy of Mario Sunshine was personalized. Back in the early 2010s, I just played games for fun. I wasn't very good at games, so I usually got used to deleting my save and playing the tutorial over and over again. But now, I've begun to get into speedrunning, and I've gotten better at playing video games. Fighting games are still my antithesis, just as they always were, but platformers are my thing. And since the consoles I keep with me all the time aren't that up-to-date, I got used to playing games over and over. So I think my copy re-personalized itself. At first, when I was bad, it decided to make itself easier for me, and let me get some shine sprites faster. I used to be so bad I couldn't even get enough shines to unlock Gelato Beach, and that's saying something. But now, as I get better and better, it's testing my skills to see if I'm good. (I am) I now only delete saves that were of extra save files that I use to beat the game again, with another file dedicated to achieving 100% completion. I don't think my GameCube is going to be doing much more personalizing though, it's CMOS battery is almost completely dead and I mostly use a softmodded Wii for most of my GameCube-ing. (the mods are there for widescreen patches) However, I will never forget my personalized copy of Super Mario Sunshine. tl;dr: It's not just Super Mario 64 that's personalizing. Nintendo isn't going to be stopping anytime soon.
