Hazbin Hotel season 1 expanded upon the concept of Deal-Making, something not every demon can do nor is it something every demon would want to do. Deals come in many forms, from verbal agreements to contracts to handshakes! But can every deal be broken? Who has deals with who and why? Well we're here to have it all explained! You never realize how dangerous Alastor is until you see someone push juuust the right button. You never see Alastor get pissed like this at anyone over anything. Annoyed, yes. I‘m mostly wondering HOW someone got him on a leash. He seems far too cunning and intelligent to fall for some trick, or give up his soul on the mere promise of anything. Only explanation is it has something to do with how he got that insane amount of power in the first place and was arrogant enough to think that this granted power in combination with the one he‘d get from making deals would be enough to break the chains - he is quite the narcissist after all.

@@pyronableit’s probably Lilith (maybe even eve idk about that one), because remember both alastor and Lilith have been gone for exactly 7 years and during the pilot alastor just so happens to arrive on Charlie’s door step offering assistance with the hotel right as Charlie’s trying to contact her mom Lilith for help. Can’t be a coincidence right. Then during the second to last episode alastor finally makes that sweet hand shaken deal with Charlie for information on how to kill angels because who better to have a deal in the back pocket with than the daughter of the person your in a major deal with because husk said that alastors also on a short leash like him and that struck a sensitive nerve with alastor and he didn’t like being reminded of that. So it’s most likely Lilith.

I’d like to point out that, in his deal with Charlie, Alastor said he’d get a favor “at a time of my choosing where you harm no one.” Where SHE harms no one. Not where no one is harmed.

Also he never implied physical harm or emotional. So alistor could still get charlie to emotionally destroy people as long as he doesn't have her touch them. Which would still wreck Charlies emotional health.

Personally I think that Adam and Lucifer had a deal too, where, Adam wasn’t allowed to touch any hellborn demons and Lucifer wasn’t allowed to interfere with the exorcists. We know the hellborn part is true, but a deal to repress Lucifer’s power also makes sense and is only further supported by the fact that Lucifer doesn’t show up to the final battle until after Adam attacks Charlie

Wild thought, Alister might own Nifty’s soul as a means of protecting her. If your soul is owned by someone, it might prevent it from being owned by another. So she can’t accidentally give her soul to another overlord.

That would have that interaction between her and Valentino really interesting if he convinced her to sign with him. Would it have fizzled or would Al have actually shown up? Actually now that I think about it...where the fuck was Alastor in episode 6?? Charlie and Vaggie road trip to Heaven, Lucifer peaced out at the end of episode 5, Cherri Bomb shows up and is bribed into taking the rest of the crew out...but iirc, we literally never hear from or even see Alastor that entire episode.

hmmm. got an extra theory. Alister owns her soul but has own it since he was human. it is heavily implied he did a lot of black magic in his life. its possible that he got nifty from a pact and she helped him do his serial killing shit on earth. when he did, nifty followed him to hell. nifty isn't a 'native of hell' though. she is a demon but not one from hell.

@@taddad2641I like that theory! But does it add up with their ages? Alastor died sometime in the 30s and Nifty at 22 years old in the 50s if I remember correctly. Maybe she carried on his work after he died? That would require for her to get stabbing at quite a young age though

Crazy thought. What if Lilith CANT be controlled because she made a deal with Lucifer that she couldn't be by anyone ever again and in exchange she went along with Lucifer. (which explains why she's dominant in their relationship) Meaning that, because Lucifer is the strongest in Hell, no one can override his deal, unless they're stronger. So when Alastor made a deal for her soul, not knowing it couldn't be taken, the deal rebounded and instead enslaved HIM. Meaning he can only be free if he is redeemed OR he gains more power than Lucifer. Which explains why he hates Lucifer on site, in part, because it's a reminder of who he must TRULY beat to be free. The hotel is a means to gain more power by offering deals to souls who fail to be redeemed. So eventually Alastor will own every soul in hell that doesn't cross over to heaven. He could just help get owned souls to heaven, thus breaking any deals with other overlords, leaving himself as the one and only owner of every soul in hell. Further more, any soul he owns he could simply tell not to go to the hotel. Thus eventually leaving him as the ruler of all souls in hell and he'd have the power to challenge lucifer for the thrown and finally free himself.

My theory is that Lilith does indeed own Alastor's soul and he knew about her deal with Adam. He voluntarily chose to fight Adam in episode 8 because he knew that she would be forced back to Hell. He would then use Charlie's "favor" to convince Lilith to let go of his soul.

One thing’s for sure…I want Alastor to be a straight up villain for at least one season. He doesn’t have to be the final villain (that spot is likely already taken up by Roo) but not letting this character stir shit up is like sitting on a gold mine. He’s an INCREDIBLE villain.

Does Lilith even count as sinner. She was newer killed, she was banished to hell with Lucifer( both sinners and winners are people who died on Earth), she is capable of having kids (while sinners are infertile).

I saw in a old comic that Alastor made a deal with his mother when he was alive that he would never stop smiling no matter. But I think the stitches might be because he smiled to much and it ripped his face.

Speaking of deals, here's an interesting idea for a potential future character that could appear in the show. In demonology, there's a demon called Lucifgue Rofocle. He is said to be responsible for overseeing and approving all contracts made between humans and demons. Maybe in the Hellverse, Lucifuge will be an overlord who knows every deal that has ever been made in Hell and is responsible for keeping a record of all of them, and possibly even being the one that enforces the terms. It could be through him that we learn about certain character's having deals with each other, though I'd imagine that there is something that forbids him from just outright revealing the details of other people's deals (like confidentiality agreements), so he can only discuss with you specific details of deals that you are involved in (that way it won't spoil certain twists about other character's deals). I'm picturing him as a lawyer type demon that they possibly go to to try and find a loophole in a character's deal that they can exploit to get them out of it.

@@meaghanmickelson2180 There is a potential loophole in Angel's deal. It's that Valentino only has power over him when he is in the studio. When he is out of the studio, he is free to do his own thing. Maybe it will depend on where Angel dies. If he dies in the studio, then Valentino keeps his soul and he isn't able to be reborn, but if he dies anywhere outside the studio, then it is able to be reborn in heaven. I have a feeling though deals become nullified upon the death of one or both parties involved, as the deals are only between the current incarnations of the people making them at the time they made them.

I still wanna under how Alastor got his full power “overnight”. Everyone when talking about his origins says he just showed up and was really powerful. We still have no clue how or why he has so much power after like what sounds like a day in hell. It could be a deal with Lilith but then why would she make a deal with a seemingly fresh soul. No one else we’ve seen can seem to summon symbols, there’s definitely something we don’t know about yet.

This is just my thoughts but we know that he was a serial killer when he was alive so maybe if you are a sinner who killed multiple people or souls maybe when you go to hell you already have some power when you get to hell. I know this might not make sense but it's just my thoughts.

IIRC, Alastor supplements his demonic abilities with literal actual voodoo magic (hence all the veve-like sigils that show up and the voodoo doll motif he takes on whenever he invokes significant portions of his power)

Mimzy explained that Alastor wasn't considered a threat by the inhabitants of Hell when he first arrived (which implies either Mimzy died first, or they died around the same time). Because of this, Alastor was able to quietly take out a significant number of the major overlords at the time and then revealed himself as a major player. Since nobody actually recognised his power to begin with, it's understandable that he would seemingly appear "overnight" after revealing his role in the disappearance of overlords.

Eve was mentioned twice, in the storybook that Charlie was reading and in the finale, where Lucifer implies he slept with her. Given how Adam bragged about sleeping with other women, it wouldn’t be surprising if she left Adam

A tactic pimps often use is love bombing, creating a sense of security so that when they gradually start abusing you, you might not even really register it. I think angel really loved him and maybe val, like many pimps, was like "if you love me you'd do this for me/the contract is just a formality" and then once angel had signed his soul away the abuse became serious and angel was forced into parts of sexwork that he's not comfortable in. its even worse when you think of the face that sinners cant die except by angelic weapons. so I can't imagine the number of times angel has been on death's door by val (or other actors) hands. being waterboarded which is one of the most painful inhumane torture methods to exist. the depiction of angel's abuse is so real

On the topic of an overlord summoning someone whose soul they own, I feel like that’s either an ability that’s been discarded in the development years between the pilot and now, or it’s something unique to Alastor and/or the deal he struck with Husk. Because Val doesn’t do that to Angel Dust at any point, and I feel like it’d be out of character for Val not to do it if he could.

Very true. We see how upset Val is about Angel moving out of wherever they lived together in ep2. Either the contract is specific enough to give Angel that particular freedom of not getting summoned, or the act of summoning requires magic that is not inherent to a deal per se. Which makes you wonder why not everyone bound by a contract simply runs off, so I guess that is not an option. Maybe the binding will make the chain appear and simply drag you back to your master as soon as they wish, but that particular summoning without the chains Alastor did with Niffty and Husk is his magic.

He can't stop angel from moving out because where he lives isn't the workplace stated in the contract, so he can move out without any problems so long as he still goes back to the studio for work

The levels of ownership seem to be different. Like Husk's autonomy is more because Alastor lets him have it when he doesn't have a use for him but Val literally doesn't seem to have any control outside of work.

*Alastor is working for a character named Roo we’ve seen imagery of her in hell* and if you notice in Roos art by Vizie we actually see a lot of familiar things Alastor uses that being the eyeballs and tentacles which are actually *Roots* that if you noticed come from under hell and Roo is likely Eve because if you notice Roo has a bunch a evil stuff coming out of her mouth which people theorize is a side effect of eating the apple and making evil This character was shown off by Vizie and she’s implied to be in the background coming later in the show

I personally believe that it's probably Eve that Alastor made a deal with, and the one who is in heaven right now as we have never seen the Lilith figure's eyes on screen, however they are in full view in pictures and such, even in the full show in Lucifer's office. We know that Eve was the first to take a bite from the apple, so what if doing so made her the Root of Evil when she died, thus essentially becoming the 'essence' of hell? in addition, from what we see of the 'Lilith' figure in the show, only her mouth is shown, and in the intro scene, Eve's mouth is highlighted in red while the rest of her face is concealed. None of the other figures in the intro scene have color on their faces until the story reaches the part where hell is shown to be a place. Edit: Also, in the flashback in Dead Beat Dad, Lilith’s eyes are omitted, which is weird since we’ve already seen pictures of her entire face, so what would be the point in concealing her eyes?

I have been wondering if Alister met Nifty thanks in part to Rosie. There's a theory going around that Nifty was in life a broken hearted 50's housewife who murdered her husband, leading to a bloodlust. Rosie is known as a matchmaking on top of being a cannibal. Perhaps she was trying to get another husband? Or was in pain following her broken heart and looking for relief? Not sure, but it's something that has got me thinking.

In my school vr game, Goalius has 1 deal, which involves a Solomon (Solomon demons or Aris Gotaeo demons are demons of unimaginable power) pacificly Marchosies which that was due to blackmail (Marchosies threatened to reveal Goalius as a false demon to Queen Sheba who would kill him IF Goalius doesn't become Marchosies Servant) and it showed during Goalius death at Lutes hands when she stabbed his core he smiled and Thanked her for lifting it before dies from the injuries and during Vaggies very violent interrogation which ended up with Marchosies almost killed by Alastor and revealed a failsafe in the deal (the failsafe being that if an Angel kills him his soul no matter the deal cant go to the afterlife)

I never realized that was Husk & Niffty behind Alistor I thought that was his minions he summons, but who ever is controlling his soul I wonder if the stitches on his smile where placed on there because they wanted him to smile to make a good impression especially since it’s green just like when Alistor makes a deal there is a green glow

My current idea is he was injured by "heavenly arms" which is where that rumor comes from and then desperate to save himself he made a deal.

@@shadenox8164 that would be the fairly straight forward approach. The issue is Zestial's inflection which suggests he used the term 'holy arms' to mean something different from angelic weapon.

ACTUALLY Eve is brought up in the last episode because Lucifer admits he had sex with BOTH EVE AND LILITH! So Lilith might be a villain based off finding out Lucifer cheated on her.

to be fair lilith and lucifer do give off those open relationship/poly relationship vibes. With the reason for both of them going to hell being not having to respond to a higher-up or being bound, I feel like being completely stuck with eachother unless they cheated wouldn't be something either of them would want

My theory about Niffty is that she was someone who alastor actually cared for like a daughter when he was alive, but when he died she took after Alastor's murderous ideals and became a serial killer like alastor until her eventual demise in where they were reunited.

Actually since it wasn't a specified hurt it favours her, meaning that whatever he asks for it can't be for her to do anything that would hurt anyone in any way. I know we're used to these kinds of tricks in a deal maker's word choices so we look out for them but vagueness can actually benefit the one accepting the deal too. But that only covers her actions directly, like if he asked her to give him a weapon that would hold up as HE would be doing the harming.

honestly with charlie and alastor's deal, i think alastor is going to ask charlie to get him out of the deal he's in which he wants to get out of. For example if alastor is in a deal with lilith, he could ask charlie to convince lilith to break their deal for good, as alastor knows he can't break it, but maybe lilith's daughter charlie could get her to set him free.

If he really did make a deal with Lilith it’s likely that he’s not at the hotel because he WANTS to. Lilith very well could have forced him to keep an eye on Charlie. Alastor also might have been so desperate to get out of his deal because he almost died while being forced to help Charlie.

I had a theory after listening to the finale song many times, but maybe he made a deal with Eve and she's his shadow. And when alastor retreats and sings during the song, the wings part may be eve singing through him since you'd think she'd also be an angel.

Here's my acting theory for how Alastor breaks free of his deal and rises to power: 1.) His deal stresses that he protect the owner of the hotel at all costs. 2.) He makes Charlie hand over the hotel. Thus he is able to prioritize protecting himself. 3.) Alastor rises to power, and the Hazbin Hotel, the thing Charlie spent so long building, thematically becomes something Charlie needs to destroy, symbolizing her newfound understanding of what redemption actually looks like. Love your videos! Would love to hear more theories on Niffty.

I doubt that the deal is so limited to the owner. It coudl be as simple as 'protect charlie and her work'. If he does become the proper owner of the hotel and 'part of her work' then he can priotize his own preservation too.

I got my money on niffty was with the TV demon at some point and Alastor being, well Alastor managed to get niffty to betray/desert him to come work for him. Explains something to do with her interesting reaction to being on camera

Seen someone else mention this but I feel like Adam had another deal possibly with Lucifer. In the fight with Charlie vs Adam you can see Adam's mask glitch right before he says "im gonna kill you" then immediately after Lucifer appeared.

What's Wierd to me is how no one is questioning the fact that Alastor can open portals to Earth and just hang out there.. That deer he was eating was not a demon deer it was a normal earth deer, and the landscape was a heavily looking bayou in New Orleans complete with fireflies. He can traverse out of Hell. It's neat.

i wonder if deals with angels work exactly the same as demons. especially considering vivzie refers to deals as having “*demon* pact power” would lillith and adam’s deal be different from others? would vaggie and alastor’s? i hope they have different rules that perhaps limit the deal maker since angels are supposed to be morally good. i know they all aren’t but i feel like deals working differently for angels than for demons would be a way to make heaven seem more lawful than hell.

Was there a deal between Lucifer and Adam/Heaven? Notice how Lucifer doesn't get involved in the extermination UNTIL Adam threated to kill Charlie, at which point Adam's mask glitches and Lucifer immediately shows up. Maybe Adam violated a deal to not harm Charlie.

Just a theory I have been thinking about. Everyone wants or is inclined that alistar and lilith made a deal, maybe. For fun though, what If he has a deal with Zestul? When alistar uses his powers they are the same color sceme as zestul. Being an elder demon one could assume a deal could have been made, also when they first meet zestule mentions he loves the sounds of screams and alistar used to broadcast them, scratch my back scratch yours kinda deal? Now I am not saying that alistar sold his soul to zestule, but there is deff some comradery. perhaps a small deal?

Maybe but Zestial literally calls Alastor "an enigma" and seems to have no clue what he's about. Zestial may have a color scheme similarity but we don't even know what his powers look like; Al changes colors at times when his powers are being used, not just with the greens and purples but sometimes just darker red and black. It's more likely that Zestial's demeanor and respect towards him made Alastor respect him in kind, making them cordial acquaitances. If anything, I think Zestial's coy comment about Alastor "falling to...holy arms" is more interesting because it could just be thinking he died to an angelic weapon. But the way he paused and emphasized "holy arms" could also be a play on words and could be some rumor amongst some demons that Alastor "fell" into the company of a higher being...relating to the theory of Alastor's 7 year disappearance lining up with Lilith's and maybe some higher demons hearing rumors of Al being involved with someone like her.

For all we know Alastor could have made a deal with anyone for his power it was stated he showed up and defeated overlords so it’s possible he could have made a deal before dying to gain all that power considering his whole thing is about voodoo so it’s possible he used it to become as strong as he is

I think how nifty and alistor met was because nifty likes "bad boys" and "punishing them" she was either a s3x overlord or a war overlord. I'm guessing s3x bc that's what goes with my theory. So since alistor def knows how to gamble as shown with husk, sometimes you can play games like poker at clubs, and if nifty was a s3x overlord, then they might have met there. While meeting, they clicked as friends and started getting close. Since she is crazy and "probably doesn't have a soul" yet husk knows why she's like that, she probably had something traumatic go wrong in her life. I'm guessing she went to alistor to see if he could help in any way and I'm also guessing he could so they made a deal. He helped nifty with whatever traumatic thing happened to get revenge or something and she gave him her soul.

I will stand by the fact that I think Alastor doesn't own Niffty's soul. I think it's more of a mutual terms deal like with Vaggie. Especially considering in the pilot he calls it 'cashing in favours' when he summons her. Which means they already had a deal where he helped her, and now she helps him. Also knowing vaguely how they met (or what Vivzie has said in the past) I think Alastor knows how strong and powerful Niffty really is and simply wants that around. He treats her with respect and not like a pet like he does Husk. And like you pointed out, he confides in her. They are equals. I don't think there's a deal for her soul, I think they're partners in crime. I also think she has a crush on him, considering he's the most powerful overlord she knows, more powerful (or seemingly) than the King of Hell himself. Of course the chaotic jitter bug who loves Bad Boys would attach herself to Hell's no. 1 bad boy. What I'm curious about is what those 7 years without Alastor looked like and more info on how she died and her start in Hell. Can't wait for more backstories next season!

Alastors deals now seem to not be that insidious by design. He wants to lodge his foot in the door, starting with obviously begning deals, which then grow to be more and more detrimental to the ones he makes deals with. Its more of a basic manipulationtactic. Though the one he made with Charlie has horrible potential. And that deal only worked with him gaining her trust, starting off with basic deals and him swooping in when she is most desperate to pray on that desperation.
