If I had a Nickel every time a DEATH BATTLE season 9 ranking end with, Omni Man VS Homelander, Magneto VS Tetsuo, Sauron VS Litch King, and SpongeBob VS Aquaman, in that order, I would have two nickels, which isn’t it a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice.

I'm obviously missing something here, because I genuinely don't like SpongeBob vs Aquaman, yet it seems to be consistently ranked in the top 3 (and often top) of many of these ranking lists. And my problem isn't even with the fight itself, because I really do like that... it's everything else.
Hey man, appreciate these always. I got tired of DB for numerous reasons years ago, but I appreciate being able to see all the good and bad through you. Its "nostalgic" in a weird way. I will still say: even though Watframe had nothing to do with the outcome, it still feels off and wrong for them to sponser the episode with thier character in it. Like it just doesn't feel right even though it was all clean. Its not like Yang Vs Tifa(which is probably the closest "corporate meddled" DB) where its just feels so corporate towards RWBY and has barely nothing towards Tifa and FF7.
Tanjiro vs Jonathan was the one I watched after taking a years-long break from the show and GOD, to say it revitalized my love is an understatement. The visuals? Drop dead gorgeous. The action? Fast and intense. The voice work? Bone chilling at points. The ending, Jesus the ENDING, left me feeling things for the rest of that day. So yeah, thank you Death Battle for doing my precious bois good

Tanjiro Vs Jonathan came out on RU-vid the day my mom passed away in the hospital. DB hadnt done many "emotional" endings up to this point, or at least none i could recall, so when I watched it later that night for a momentary distraction and that ending happened I was like "Damn you really had to pick today to do it to me Wiz lmao" followed by uncontrollable sobbing for 20 minutes. Not what I'd necessarily call a "happy" coincidence but I guess I kinda needed it.

The most surprising episode this season was Trunks VS Silver because of the past hate towards Silver and I enjoyed that episode a lot. Also, Homelander deserved to get curb stomped due to how evil and hypocritical he is.
Glad to have you back Ty. If "Saitama vs Popeye" isn't the best episode of Death Battle, "Sauron vs the Lich King" definitely is. "Sauron vs LK" and "Thor vs Vegeta" are easily both in my top ten of the entire show.
While I do agree that the finale is high quality. That solely stems from the budget. Everything even remotely associated with the matchup itself is well below average.
Spoilers if you care SpongeBob Vs. Aquaman and Trunks Vs. Silver both being in the top 5 felt so personalized for me because SpongeBob, Sonic, and Dragon ball are all series that I love and care with my whole heart (And DC is cool ig)

I mean... I'd argue that Yang vs Tifa was a sponsored episode and definitely one where the victor was decided by who wants death battle to promote them with this matchup. Still, calling Ben a liar over something that old that's been handled better since is stupid regardless so I get why you didn't mention it. Also this episode is actually awesome(animation aside) and I'd love to see more bonus episodes take on a similar format.
