I was taught 4/4 timing. So the snare hits are on two and 4. But the snare hits on every 3 hits makes sense as well, it's just you're not throwing in the " 1 and 2 and 3 and 4." It's just straight hits. It's the same beat just taught differently.
I know this will sound crazy but I had a dream that I was on stage with rush playing YYZ and I was playing drums. The next day I woke up knowing how to play drums, and it was awesome. So my first groove was YYZ lol
Am I the only one who started with the 8th note hi hats with the snare on 2/4? If you’re gonna be continuing to develop on drums I feel like it’s much more helpful to train your mind to identify the 2 & 4 of a groove than the half time.
Dude, the way you teach is very easy to follow and you know so much, your a great teacher,i just learned the purdie, Rosanna shuffle from you, thanks again 👍
To let everyone know, This beat is used in many songs such as: Billy Jean, Enter Sandman, Back in Black, Breaking The Law, Smells like Teen Spirit(Technically), Livin on a Prayer, Symphony of Destruction etc.
Hello friend, greetings from Honduras, you are a genius, I like how you play the drums and all the content that you teach us. I can ask you a favor, I would like you to make a video on how to equalize the drums,
@@stevegodfreydrums took me abt 2h to get it down over a 2 week period (one hour lessons a week) I’ve now been playing for 2 years and I’d like to think I’m pretty good🤷🏼♂️
No, not if you count it as quarter notes. This is just a basic way of helping a complete beginner to separate their limbs with a number. Counting 8th notes comes after the first lesson ;)
THAT BASS DRU KICKING GOOD ASF IN MY HEAD PHONES DAMN SON GIVE EM THE DRUMA AND HE GOES DUMB EEEHHHHH I FUCKING LOVE WATCHING OTHER DRUMMERS DO YO THANG BRUTHA
You guys remember that guy who called this the “Apple 1 orange 1” and then got absolutely destroyed in his comment by angry drummers. Thank god we have a real actual good tutorial for the quarter note rock beat.
Thanks! But calling that person an idiot is a bit harsh. Yes, I don't fully agree with the "apple 1 orange 1"-method enirely, however - it is a fantastic way if you're teaching toddlers. Everyone is different, and some kids might respond better to words instead of numbers, because they can associate a color and shape to counting instead just a number. But thanks anyway! ^_^
For my forst time which was about a year ago for this beat was quite easy partly because I play percussion, but my other friends had a surprisingly hard time picking this up
