Thanks for helping this channel reach 40k subscribers! I hope you enjoyed this video! If you’re wondering when the next ranking video will be, it won’t be for a very…very long time. Second Channel: www.youtube.com/@MediaMementosXtra
Do you think you can make another ranking video like this to prepare for when you have 50,000 subscribers? How do you feel about recent Cartoon Network hit shows like Steven Universe and Craig of the Creek? Since you made a video essay on Louise from Bob's Burgers, I am surprised you never made a video titled Gravity Falls vs the Network. That will give you plenty of juicy material with which to work.
What I love about Seeing Red is that it reinforces the logic that you don't get the imaginary friend you want, you get the one you NEED. On the surface, Red is gruff, edgy, and brutish, but he's a kind soul at heart and he's there to teach Terrance how bad it can be when you're the one being hurt and that, all in all, spreading positivity is a much more healthy mindset.
It also helps red is technically a newborn, and while you could argue that doesn’t typically matter for say all the things goo makes idk I always felt that was partly the reason red didn’t know better
I agree, Bloo deserve all of this to happen to him after all of the BS he's did in Seasons to 6, excluding Season 1. When he calls out by everyone, including his friends, he really does get punished for it. Also, Mac does have every rights to do this to Bloo in the episode "Challenge of the Superfriends", even after watching a lot of episodes *except for Season 1*, of every crimes and troublesthat Bloo commits. That being said, I like Bloo in Season 1, because I think he is a nice and very gentle imaginary friend without being such a jerkass.
When I was rewatching House of Bloos I was so confused with how nice Bloo was and genuinely thought I just misremembered his character for all these years Then I saw Store Wars
Well… he did willingly drop a vase (twice) on Terrance, and attack Eduardo until everyone finally got him to listen to them. Not to mention, overexaggerate a little when describing he and Mac’s situation to Mr. Herriman. I do think this was because he had to grow used to defending Mac in any way he could, and never really got to know how far was too far. And perhaps Bloo’s wilder side came out, because he no longer had to worry about his rough home life. However, I think his best moments still remained in Season 1. Yes, Bloo turned out to be a bit of a jerk. But, he still had that softer side, like when he wanted to show Mac the rooftop corner of their home in Dinner is Swerved, seeing Wilt for the kind friend he really was at the end of Phone Home, apologizing to Red, and realizing how much he wasn’t like Terrance in seeing Red, making things up with Mac in Berry Scary, and getting humbled by the talking puppy in Who Let The Dogs Out. (Oh yeah, there are also the actions Bloo takes to try to calm Mac down in Season 2’s Party is Such Sweet Soirée. He may not have wanted to admit his mistakes, but he did try to fix them.)
Congratulations Trevor! I've been an editor for this channel since your Character Quest on Eddy from Ed, Edd, n Eddy (November 12, 2022). And I have made so many amazing friends including V, GeekToons, Whoelsebutzane, Skinniiiboiii, and Timey! Here's to another year of edits, and here's to 50K!
Congrats, Trevor for 40K. You made me laugh at a few parts in the video. I got extremely excited when V was featured in this video. It was a very nice surprise.
Probably my favorite thing about Foster's home for imaginary Friends is how well it explores its premise. It really feels like an accurate depiction of a world where imaginary friends come to life. It explores how people would abuse the system and how life would work in that world.
When I was a kid fosters goes to Europe was one I'd actively avoid. Not because of anything in the episode itself just how they treated eurotrish made me really mad. Idk why, I think it's just cause she's really nice and everyone just treats her as an annoying thing. Even now as a grown ass man, nice people getting treated like shit for a bit just gets me the wrong way.

Looking at all of these episodes like this, it only just dawned on me that Foster’s Home has a lot of the same strengths and weaknesses as The Loud House. Both shows are at their best when the story is wild, chaotic or wholesome. Likewise, they’re at their worst when the story gets to dull and repetitive, or when the characters are grossly out of character and one character is used as a punching bag.
32:00 Thank you for featuring my comment in this video. I am happy to see that the relentless thoughts that invaded my mind and begged to be written down in the cold sleep of 4:00 A.M. were able to provide an interesting perspective on the ranking of this video.
In all seriousness, foster’s home might be one of my most favorite shows of all time. If I had to pick my favorite episode, I think it’d have to be either Bloo’s Brothers, The Sweet Stench Of Success, or Schlock Star.
A show that knew when to go just like chowder and few others. Saw it again recently and I still loved the entire show so much. It truly was a good show for kids to watch and imagine. Dream and expand like knd
Trevor please, you know that cartoon critics in the olden days would be "I must find the writers and combine their DNA helixes with that of a fried pork chop, just like I did with my former roommate: Rrrrrrrrrrrrandalllllllll!"
27:43 idea to make a concept like this work, make it so bendy trys to screw over the characters and take advantage of them but whenever he attempts to it backfires.
Hello, JohnMarkee1995 here! First, congrats on making it to 40k. Second, you're welcome for me and Pokey clarifying the often held belief about The Little Peas supposedly being a result of the strike. I'm actually surprised that thing is still getting attention as I made it like five years ago and I haven't posted on my DA account since 2020! As for what I think of the episode, Trevor summed it up perfectly: It's the Big Cheese again, but worse. I'm still currently at the D tier so I don't know where that episode is but I'd place it along with The Little Peas in F tier right next to Cheese a Go-Go (yep, me and Trevor are in the same boat as that one). One more thing I'll mention for now is that I also first saw Imposter's Home when I was 10, but I was the exact opposite as even then I really hated it. But the info about how the episode got butchered was news to me (despite it being from 2020), but also not surprising that executive meddling ruined it considering that this is the very reason why Everyone Knows It's Bendy ended up the way it did.
What's even worse about I Only Have A Surprise for you is that writers actually incorporated scenes where Mac tells everyone (or even expresses it through his actions) that he doesn't like parties and that Bloo constantly annoys him with them. They literally had a scene where Mac told Herriman that he didn't want anyone to throw him a party, in addition to literally showing more scenes of Mac sabotaging party preparations. It would've had a point if Bloo lied to the residents, making them believe Mac secretly does like parties and just says or shows that he doesn't to fool them or something. But no. It's like residents completely lost a couple of brain cells in this episode when Mac told them (or even shows it through his actions again) that he doesn't like parties, yet they still threw him a party anyways. Having those scenes just makes the entire house even more unlikable in this episode since apparently they just brushed off the feelings of the person they're throwing a party for in the first place.
I loved almost every episode with Goo as a kid but I think that had a lot to do with her being one of my cartoon crushes as a kid. Frankie too, actually.
Dude, 3 and half hours? Now *this* has gotta be the longest video you’ve ever done. Edit: Congrats on reaching 40K btw. Also, I didn’t expect V to actually be in this.
51:09 Just a note on the background music, I love this. I just love how Media Mementos handles backgrounds songs. 1:37:46 The way you squeak. It's funny how connected WB was to OutKast in the 2000s.
I'm kinda shocked that Everyone Knows It's Bendy wasn't going in the very bottom but instead I Only Have Surprise For You. I actually liked that episode better than the Bendy episode.
I like to put in my two cents about something I thought about when watching world wide rabbit again. Was Harriman originally made to be A down to earth joke telling rabbit for madame foster? Because if he was allways born an asshole then how come the thing he redoes for madame foster as A kid was go wholesome? Was it because as he grew old with his owner both became more cranky? And when they were both younger he was made to make foster happy and laugh with cute things like that?
I like to think that Terrance is incapable of making an Extremasaur, between Red, and having to dupe Eduardo into fighting in the underground fight club… I think Terrance is supposed to be THAT stupid.
All of my childhood favorite episodes that I remember very well are ranked high (except for The Big Cheese, understandable why that one isn't higher up) which makes me happy! Although personally I would probably put Sweet Stench of Success higher, that episode is one that was always really memorable to me
I just finished rewatching this series for the first time in years and you guys drop this awesome video on me 2 days later? Talk about incredible timing! Congrats on 40K!
Congrats on 40K! The channel definitely deserves it =) Is the reanimated collab finished, or are they still working on it? All I can find are trailers and individual scenes. One thing about Bloo and Goo though... I never really read it as him having a crush. I never got the feeling that Bloo could be romantically interested in anyone. He cares about his creator, but even that fluctuates; sometimes he's the best guy ever, sometimes Bloo couldn't care less. Still, if there's one person Bloo cares about more than anything, it's Mac. I think Bloo sees Goo like a dog sees their favorite human. They get all excited, run around like crazy, go get their toys for playtime, etc. I think he sees in Goo the kind of unbridled chaos he sometimes doesn't get from Mac, which is fair. Here's the reason I don't think it's a crush: In "Go Goo Go," when Bloo first meets Goo (and she's prattling on), he's clearly impressed. THEN, he turns to Mac and says, "I like her for you" - to which Mac reacts with confusion. Bloo thinks Goo is Mac's girlfriend. He comes to the same conclusion that every other member of the house does, before any of them have met her. He's giving Mac his approval, like you might get from a family member when you introduce them to your new significant other. Hence the phrase "I like her for you" - meaning, I think she's a good fit, you two should keep seeing each other. Granted, I'm sure part of that is so Bloo can hang out with her too - he loves chaos, and she seems to be chaos incarnate - but it doesn't read as romantic interest to me. Just my two cents on that, though. =)
True though, I don't know how anyone could find anything romantic in that. Guess some people still believe boys and girls can't just be friends without being "in love" lol. Also Goo's a lot older than Bloo anyway.
Theres a theory yhat bloo became such a trouble maker after leaving mac because mac was bloos "innocence. " without him around bloo had no moral compass left amd became a jerk without him
It's funny... The worst episode tried to retcon a major plot point of the best episode. Also, I remembered both as a kid and was always confused; if Mac couldn't have sugar, then why were people throwing him birthdays anyway? Unless his mom is somehow goated enough to make a completely sugar-free cake, which'd probably taste incredibly bland.
@CherryHotSauce It'd be really sad birthdays. You can't eat cake, no ice cream, no cupcakes, no candy, nothing. Your friends get to indulge in all of those things but you yourself cannot.
Foster's Goes to Europe is weird because when I was a kid I really enjoyed it for Eurotrish, but now I feel like she's a microcosm of the entire show's negatives were I ever to return to it: loud, excitable, fast-paced, mean spirited... Cheese-A-Go-Go is awful. I used to like Cheese.
This is one of the few lists where it seems like they actually listened to themselves while ranking them, I swear the number of times people say an episode which is objectively worse if you look at it, like it's basically the same episode as the one a place below it but with another thing to make it worse, for example I think the a bendy episode is also much better because everyone has the sympathy of eachother they're not being left helpless and all alone like in the bottom few episodes, like you can have a different opinion but bad+1 or -1 since negative would make more sense for bad, is just worse than bad that's just basic logic, as long as its not jarringly wrong I don't tend to care but people are almost always jarringly/shockingly wrong Like how everyone hates Atlantis Squarepantis, at worst it's mediocre or hilariously bad It's certainly not horrible, plus the willy Wonka parody thing is actually kinda neat, the songs fit the characters even if they're not good they're odes which it's more important to get a message or story across than to be musically adept, epitome of mediocrity? Fair enough, awful? Partially but definitely redeeming at least ironically Hopefully that is a good example, I think it is, Also being extra long/a special doesn't make it that much worse if anything it raises the ironic value which is very important, many episodes(spongebob is on mind btw) are simply obnoxious for example
I have the feeling that Fosters goes to Europe was supposed to be the "the gang travels to horribly stereotyped country" episode, but since they couldn't use the...usual countries becuse it'd be too much in the nose, they used Europe
Do you want to know what my favorite Foster's Friends story is? House of Bloo's. Why? Multiple reasons. First of all, House of Bloo's is the movie that sttarted this show in the first place. Without this movie, there would be no Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. This is the movie that should be thanked for making Foster's what it is. Secondly, because this movie was the outright beginning, this means a time when Mac's voice actor, Sean Marquette, was still a child! I am a person who loves hearing child voices in cartoons, and that's why Mac is my favorite character. If I made my own top ten list of favorite episodes, they would be all about Mac. Unfortunately, this show lasted past Sean Marquette's eighteenth birthday, so puberty caused Mac's actual child voice to change. When I watch Hose of Bloo's, and honestly all of Season 1, it allows me to still hear Mac with an actual child voice. That makes me like House of Bloo's even more. One more reason is that because this is in Season 1, Blooregard is not a jerk AT ALL. I don't know how Blooregard got so obnoxious so quickly, because in this movie, he was a complete best friend to Mac. I guess V's explanation could mean Blooregard slowly fell into madness, and this might mean the other characters brought Blooregard's meanness onto themselves, but my only problem is how drastic Blooregard's change feels. But in House of Bloo's, Blooregard is a definite good gut, no doubt about it. I would put House of Bloo's at #1 for my favorite Foster's story. This makes me feel disappointed to see the movie at #11 on this list, but I guess I am happy you're calling it the best of Season 1. It really earns that much.
Voice Actor List Sean Marquette: Mac - Keith Ferguson: Blooregard, Pokey Toehair, Sunset Junction, The Handy Friend, A Few Males - Candi Milo: Coco, Madame Foster, Cheese, Sassyfrass, Erin Peterson, Officer Valeroso, Mutliple Females - Phil Lamar: Wilt, Jackie Khones, Charlie Chicken Leg, Red, Jordan Michaels, Multiple Males - Tom Kenny: Eduardo, Yogi Boo Boo, Phineas Vurm, Rodney Squiddlebeak, Ritchie Wildebrat, Kip the Producer, The Most Males - Grey DeLisle: Frankie Foster, Duchess, Mac's Mother, Fluffer Nutter, Berry, Stevie, Giant Baby Friend, The Most Females - Tom Kane: Mr. Herriman, Sloppy Moe, Multiple News Reporters, A Few Males - Tara Charendoff Strong: Terrence, Sweetums the Brat Girl, A Few Females - Jeffrey Bennett: Bloppy Pants, Bendy, Coco's Science Rescuers, A Few Males - Kath Soucie: Goo Goo Gaga, A Few Females - Kevin Michael Richardson: Uncle Pockets, Foul Larry, The Purple Alien Leader, A Few Males - Kevin McDonald: Ivan - Max Burkholder: The World (Destination Imagination) - Craig McCracken Himself: The Animation Boss (One False Movie)
Bloo wasn't some irredeemable monster or anything. If anything he was just a mildly annoying, selfish jackass throughout MOST of the show. That being said V really WAS a huge apologist for Bloo. Sometimes in the show he deserves what he goes through, and sometimes he doesn't. It really depends on how well the episode is written honestly.
You people really keep ignoring certain details about "Pranks for Nothing", almost as though you didn't actually watch it: 1) Bloo kept breaking rules prior to the bucket of water prank, and what caused Herriman to lock him in the closet was discovering that Bloo had ordered room service against explicit instructions, which was *not* a frame-up. His friends wanted to sleep, but he wouldn't let them. 2) The pranks only kept happening because Bloo kept trying to prank them, only to be repeatedly outsmarted. Had he simply given up and gone to sleep after managing to find another room, the trio would have done the same. *Bloo* chose to keep going, and he suffered for it. Bottom line: Bloo brought it all upon himself with his incessant hyperactivity and his stubborn refusal to just throw in the towel and go to bed like he should have. He got what he deserved.
1. Bloo was more than willing to have fun abiding by the rules, shown by his excitement for everything that’s free. When he drank the pot of coffee, he lost all impulse control just like Mac does with his sugar rush. Mac’s destructive sugar rushes don’t get punished because of that, so what makes Bloo any different (and don’t say “because it’s Bloo”)? And sure, Herriman could still punish Bloo (he could have put Bloo in his room and turn it into a Bloo and Herriman episode), but you do NOT lock a child in the closet. That’s actually a form of abuse. Even the closet-locking cases of Mac, Abe Lincoln Pen, and Moose were treated as such. 2. A prank war isn’t fun to watch if it’s just one person constantly being outsmarted before they have the chance to pull a single prank. And in terms of the ending prank, Bloo doesn’t pull pranks that cross the line (Surprise doesn’t count because everybody was grossly out of character), but Wilt, Ed, and Coco did that right here. It’s like that episode of SpongeBob where Squidward puts SpongeBob through a prank that physically and emotionally hurts him, except this time we’re not supposed to side with the victim. Bonus counterpoint: If Wilt, Ed, and Coco wanted to go to bed so badly, then they could’ve. Nothing was stopping them after Bloo was taken away. Bloo’s pranks weren’t keeping them up, they chose to stay up to be one step ahead and foil him instead of being forced into it (the latter would’ve been more understandable). You can still think Bloo deserves everything that happened in Pranks For Nothing, but I just don’t see how a kid wanting to stay awake in spite of their peers and actively trying to follow the rules until an outside factor takes away their self-control is deserving of getting locked in a closet and being terrified into cleaning up an entire hotel top to bottom overnight. Thank you for reaching out, have a nice day!
@@LovelyLivelyV Oh hey again! Yeah, I feel like people forget that Bloo is basically a kid, while imaginary friends don´t age like humans do, they do have the mental capacity of their creators when they were children, so since Mac created him when he was 3, it makes sense that Bloo would have the imaginative and hyperactive mind of how a toddler typically acts.
Exactly. It's not one of the better episodes and I tend to forget it happened, but it's not like Bloo didn't deserve any of it. It's like if people aren't villainizing Bloo to hell and back they're woobifying him like crazy lol.
An odd reminder that a lot of the "BAD" episodes are written by Darrick Bachman. If that name sounds familiar to you, he tends to be the co-writer of Genndy Tartakovsky's works like Primal, Unicorn Warriors Eternal, his version of Star Wars Clone Wars and Samurai Jack. I guess he was just not a good fit for this show.
I Feel like Squidward in Squeaky Boots when it comes to the Episode Cheese a Go Go. Me: (Groans) That Cheese Repeatingly Saying "Gotta go" is Gonna Drive us all Crazy. 5 Minutes Later Me: That it, I'm Going outside and Walk around. I just Can't take That Gotta Go Like From Cheese ANYMORE!!! I'll see You guys later.
Here's my personal top 10 list: 10. Bloo's Brothers 9. The Bloo Superdude and the Magic Potato of Power! 8. One False Movie 7. Challenge of the Super Friends 6. My So Called Wife 5. Setting a President 4. Frankie My Dear 3. Partying is Such Sweet Soiree 2. World Wide Wabbit 1. The Sweet Stench of Success
This was a great video to remember. To be honest, Fosters's Home is a cartoon that I'd rather leave in my childhood, because I think it needs something only a kid can taste. I mean, watching it filled me with nostalgia, but also cringe at some of their questionable writing decisions. But, to finish the comment in a positive note, that theory about imaginary friends being subconscious desires put them into the same category as JoJo stands.
1:29 What Animaniacs reboot/slash revival? I thought that only the soundtracks came out! I don’t remember anything else, what are you talking about? Btw Yakko’s Big Idea SLAPS, dare i’d say it’s on par with some of the OG series’s best songs
Yeah I felt like they did too much to Bloo while so many others got away with so much especially eduardo say what you want about Bloo he made the show what it was for the most part also Squeeze the day was by far really "mean spirited" on the grounds that they left the a five year old alone by himself so they can go to the beach and have fun they deserved to get banned from the beach by the governor
Honestly, I never liked Fosters that much as a kid. I know it’s cliche to bash cartoons as “mean spirited” but I always got that coming from Fosters. Bloo, Mac’s best friend, was a contemptible jerk and not in a fun way like Eddy from Ed, Edd and Eddy. So many plots involved stupid misunderstandings or having idiocy take over, and so many endings are bad and leave a sour taste in your mouth (Bendy, Fosters Goes to Europe, I Only Have a Surprise For You, Camping Episode where Bloo Eats all the Food)
18:34 now i worry that they'll make Bloo out the same way but now it really solidifies the villain defeatubers' opinions on him(god i hate being reminded of that). But craig said it was gonna be less mean spirited so Bloo might wound getting less harsh punishments or understand what not to do & takes it for word. Edit at 2/9/24 at 3:14 PM: So after rewatching your review on Better Off Ed, i realize i might've misunderstood what your friend meant by with your 2nd idea since i was too focused on the craig mckraken clip. I am hoping that the direction is taken well and bloo is given better with how he takes it and what he lessons from the lesson too.
Tbh 1.) I hate cheese too I don’t even care if he’s like that likely bc his owner is disabled so he has a disability too (imo probably autism but this is a headcannon) he’s just annoying in most if not all his appearances, and none of his screaming and random = funny stick worked on me. Imo blue does the screaming = funny humor better, cus he’s well rounded so when he does a scream lasting for a while joke, it’s usually more based on an emotional reaction that’s funny to a situation as opposed to with cheese when he does it bc that’s just his response to everything. And this 2.) after watching this I think I’m a bloo apologist too cus I hadn’t realized that he’s always getting trashed on even when he did very little to earn it. Man bloo isn’t always in the right, but he def deserved better friends who would help him try to see the era of his ways, yet only Mac really did that, and only in good eps, oh and madam foster too, which is probably why she usually brought out the best in blue. 3.) ALRIGHT…BUS THE TWO OF US NOT BEING IN S TIER or top of A tier…kinda an l move…./mostly jk still loved the vid that just happens to be my fav ep outside of the movies/specials, but I can overlook it since you only allowed 5 eps for s tier. 4.) my gripe with 3 is overridden by the fact you put my actual favorite episode of the entire show good wilt hunting on S tier!
Recently brought the whole series on dvd I'm watching it for the time in years right now I'm on season 3 so far the F teir episodes for me are Bendy and berry scary
Fosters ultimately was a disappointment as a property. It failed to live up to its full potential, like Craig's other show, the Powerpuff Girls did. Very little merchandise for Fosters despite being a fairly popular show. No movies, very little toys, clothes, or games.
I dunno, maybe it’s just me, but if an episode is considered so bad the creator actively make a public apology over it… yeah, that seems F Tier level bad. Like, for Everyone Knows It’s Bendy, ignoring use of phrases like “mean spirited” or whatever, it’s just… frustrating and not entertaining. Frankie and Herriman are uncharacteristically not trusting Ed, Wilt, and Coco over someone new. And it just ends with Bendy basically NEVER getting his comeuppance. The start is frustrating and unfun, so’s the middle, and it ends the same. I’d absolutely watch Cheese a Go Go 10 times on repeat before spending that minimal amount of time on Everyone Knows It’s Bendy once
Imo you guys took too long to get to Imposter’s. I haaaaaaate that episode and consider it to be the absolute worst. Also I’m pretty sure the deodorant episode slightly traumatized me as a kid, I remember being so distressed by it.
I'm sorry but Bloo singlehandedly ruined my take on this show. He was a monster, and often crossed the line into outright villainy. It's quite telling that when the upcoming reboot was announced, I cheered the fact that it having a new cast meant (or so I thought) that we never had to see that blue bastard again...only to get angry when it turned out he would in fact, be returning. The fact he's in the reboot is arguably even worse because it's targeted at preschoolers, so if he retains even a slither of his original, horrific personality, it would do unbelievable damage to the little kids that'll be watching. And to that, I suggest a new strategy: Let the Bluey win
I do agree that Bloo's flanderization was a detriment to the show, but it also was a result of the big "mean spirited" attitude that hit a lot of 2000s media, Foster's included. Since that cartoon era seems to be done for the most part, I wouldn't be too surprised if Craig and crew make him more like he was in the first season, where he was selfish but with a good heart.
@@gpmar30369 Well, there was the time he enslaved his supposed friends to make massive quantities of Madame Foster’s cookies, and the time he thought killing Mac was the only solution to the latter moving away (even though he wasn’t), and probably some other examples. Those two are just the ones off the top of my head, but I’m sure there are more out there
