I think in the short term, yes, it will be less common as players who are good enough to go from FCS to FBS move up, but I think it will stabilize over time. The lower tier FBS schools will continue to schedule games they risk losing because they are cheaper to schedule and the FCS school will travel to them while the P4 teams won't or at least won't very often. Ball State isn't getting a home and home with Bama, Georgia, Notre Dame anytime soon. Sam Houston, still newly minted to the FBS, isn't going to host USC, Michigan, or Oklahoma in a one time non-con game. These teams will just have to continue taking their chances with the FCS teams and there will be upsets.

ive always said there needs to be a transfer portal regulation. my idea was that an athlete can only transfer after their 2nd year of eligibility has ended. and athletes who transfer are required to sit out 1 year, but it has no effect on the rest of their eligibility

@@rxsejay Scott Frost was 0-2 against Colorado, and lost to a CU team that put up a shockingly similar choke job against an even worse Oregon State team. His teams really weren't that good just because they kept most losses to one score lmao

​@@jamesshivelynow I'm no expert, but moving down (and thus out of conference) may still serve a purpose. Look at Idaho's mens basketball team compared to what the MW just did with the NCAA tourney. If anything, those other sports may be a reason to stay in a smaller (non FBS) conference.

@@dbeast03 I mean as a football-only member, which is very common. Idaho youre right though, should absolutely stay in the BigSky for every other sport. I could see Basketball going up to the MW as they are in their first year of a rebuild, but still suck. And Moving to FCS helped Idaho a ton for a few years but we're not gonna stay FCS especially teams like MSU or Montana go up

@@jamesshively for sure, limited sport memberships work, though that may come down to the exit cost to the Big Sky. I'd be interested to know how that conference manages leaving members contractually, because at least for bigger conferences, the punishments are brutal. Personally I'm with you here, I think it could work from a sports perspective, but I wonder if the money and contracts are there to make it work.

It might be my favorite highlight of the year if NDSU beats Colorado. Can’t wait to watch the Buffs of CU get overhyped again and lose to NDSU then Nebraska in back 2 back weeks! (GBR by the way)

SIU was no slouch last season. They went 8-5, were a field goal away from making the FCS quarterfinals, and were the only team all season to hold FCS champion South Dakota State to under 20 points

This is not accurate at all. Sac State was 12-1 the previous season and Stanford was reeling. I wasn't surprised at all that Sac State won, especially as a revenge game because Sac State's head coach left them for Stanford after the 12-1 season, only to get handed a loss right away to his former team. Stanford was only a 6.5 point favorite. NIU was a 9.5 point favorite over SIU. And by far the biggest, Buffalo was a 21.5 point favorite over Fordham. Idaho was actually a 4.5 point favorite over Nevada, so that one really wasn't an upset at all, but the margin of victory for Idaho was still definitely a surprise.
