I remember being at like a red lobster and seeing the highlights and telling my Sunday school teacher how big of an upset it was. Fun and easy times back then
I was in Section 17, Seat 6....at Michigan Stadium...I was 7 years old at the time. Who would have thought that the first time I would see Michigan lose a game would be one of the most historic losses of all time...
@@trevorlafalce5789 Lol that's amazing though. Must have stung in the moment, but looking back.. that's a memory you'll have for life. Such a historic game to attend.
@@Astrohhh Indeed. My father was standing next to me, and prior to the field goal, told me, "If he gets the ball through the goal post, we win!". Then that happened...I asked him what was going on (our seats were on the opposite side of where the FG attempt was), and he told me, "you will remember this moment for the rest of your life". FYI, I was also at the Michigan vs MSU game in 2015...same seats, this time I knew what was going on...
Trivia: Marshall beating Notre Dame and Georgia Southern beating Nebraska were on the same weekend in 2022, along with Appalachian State beating Texas A&M in College Station. That was a great weekend to be a Sun Belt football fan.
Am I the only one who likes Gary Danielson? Lol. Thank God he doesn't announce anymore, but Ed Cunningham is probably the worst I've ever heard. Joe Tessitore is the worst today. But it's all my opinion.
There are a lot on this video that absolutely belong, but a lot that don't either. Just because someone beats Alabama doesn't make it the biggest upset in CFB history. It just makes it a good win. Especially when you've got the team beating them as a top 25 team.
@@SouthernSooner-wn3el Helped to create the 2011 BCS controversy which in turn led to the CFB playoffs being put into effect. If the Cowboys win that game then they’re the clear #1 and there is no controversy and the BCS is probably still going for at least a few years after.
100% and they most likely would have gone to a playoff format at some point anyways. I just think people were so angry that year that it kinda pushed the NCAA’s hand.
@hankthewolf They would've absolutely been in the BCS title game if they won that game, but LSU would've still been the undisputed #1 entering that game. I still think OSU deserved to get in over Bama tho, even if they ended up beating LSU for the title. I said what I said.
Why is Colorado vs TCU on here? Like TCU may have just come off a championship run, but they ended up going 5-7 so they were incredibly overrated. They also lost a ton of seniors as well.
Yeah, I mean TCU lost nearly all of their starters and no one had any tape on Colorado. And officials wouldn't call any penalties on Cu in the first half. But I'm not bitter about that. 😉
Another one that could be added is the Utah win over Alabama in the 2008 Sugar Bowl. The Utah Utes ran a no-huddle offense and led 21-0 in the first quarter before Nick Saban knew what hit him. EVERYONE was saying that Utah had been lucky all season to end up at #7 (and they had had some lucky breaks), and that Alabama was going to wipe the floor with the Utes. VERY satisfying as a Utah fan to see all the Alabama fans just stunned, and to see Coach Saban so flummoxed. Those were days never to be forgotten. Cheers.
If I’m correct too Utah was the first Group of 5 team to go fully undefeated too. That 08 team was magic. One of the beast teams Utah’s ever had. They should’ve had a shot at the title that year.
Baylor vs #1 Kansas State in 2012 should’ve been on here. Game was a stomping and Baylor was like 4-5 unranked at the time while k state was undefeated
my son's senior year in HS, they were in 4th place with 3 weeks left and had 3 opponents that were still undefeated to end the season. they beat the first one 28-3, 2nd one 45-10, and last one 28-27 to end the season 9-1 and won their conference and make the playoffs. the last game they were up 28-21 with 35 secs, but the refs blew a call that allowed the other team to score a TD at the end. the other team decided to go for 2 instead of 1 pt to win and son's team intercepted it in the endzone.
@@kirkcoatsccc594 hell yeah it was. my son has autism and was a DL player. so the coaches barely used him except end of games. the last game he played, he was in for 3 plays. 1st play, he sacked the QB for 10 yds. 2nd play, with two OL on him, he tackled the RB for 7 yds. 3rd play, this time with 3 players guarding him, he sacks the QB for another 12 yd loss. his teammates were ecstatic on how he did. 2 sacks, 1 tfl, -29 yds allowed. proud daddy moment for me
I hate when a video shows a couple of actual all time upsets. Then they just put your average upsets this year and hype them up like they are legendary upsets.
Or Texas and Alabama. Both above-average teams. Where is the "Biggest Upsets" in that. Most sucked. not tmany were Ohio State vs. Purdue or Michigan vs. App State. Horribly sloppy job. I could name many more better upsets.
@@fangs278 Who cares what Vegas thinks. But a 4-8 team beating a #3 11-2 team is an upset. Though then you have to include 3-8 USC beating #3 11-2 Penn State 21-10 in 1991. But then what about when Memphis State beat USC 24-10 a week earlier. But is a 5-6 team beating a 3-8 team an upset just because of their names?
I was at the State Fair and there were swarms around the Dish and Direct TV booths both inside and out that day. When the kick went wide right the fair damn near exploded
The FSU loss to JSU is definitely up there with some of my most painful memories in sports. I remember thinking we needed to go searching for another coach, but I am so thankful we held on to Coach Norvell. He rebuilt our program from the ground up! I hope he sticks around for a long time.
Also me personally I wouldn't consider Colorado beating TCU as a upset, like I get it cause TCU was in that Nattie the year before but still wouldn't say that was a upset.
I’ve played, coached, and watched CFB for 20+ Years and The 2022 Alabama vs Tenn game is hands down one of the worst officiated games I’ve ever seen at any level. Tenn got away with: - a brutal Targeting hit on Bryce - several blatantly PI’s - a stop with 12 Defenders which if called would have been 1st and Goal at the 1 - A reversed Fumble right after Alabama created a fumble and scoop and score on the Previous drive putting them up by 7 late. - The same drive as the previous BS was a game ending interception at the Endzone Pylon which was returned 40+ YARDS before suddenly until the Referee who was standing under the Goalpost threw a Flag for “Pass Interference”. The side judge that was 2 yards away from the interception didn’t throw a flag, but the Ref that is 25 Yards away from the play “Horizontally” waits until it’s returned 40+ Yards to throw a flag. There’s way more
The Arkansas -Texas game wasn’t that big of an upset. When Arkansas beat #1 Texas 42 - 11 in 1981, I think, that was a big upset. When Arkansas beat Oklahoma in the 1978 Orange Bowl it was a huge upset. When Arkansas beat Jimmy Johnson’s Miami team in the mid 89’s IIRC that was a huge upset. Whoever put this together isn’t qualified to state these are the greatest upsets ever as their knowledge is limited. There are other booger upsets than these Arkansas upsets. Just thought of another 2 big Arkansas upsets. Texas A&M in 1975 and then Georgia in the 1976 Cotton Bowl.
What about South Carolina in 2022 hanging 63 on number 5 Tennessee at home then going to Death Valley and coming back from 0-14 to beat number 8 Clemson 31-30, both of which proved to knock both out of the playoff !!!
I appreciate the effort, but I kinda had to stop watching when we're claiming 11th ranked Texas beating Alabama was one of the "biggest" upsets in college football history lol
First on the list: the game where, at the end, I was like "Okay, App State, looks like y'all had a lot of fun today. You put on a great, competitive game. You'll probably win your national title, even! Unfortunately, it's time for the silliness to stop. Michigan's gonna kick the FG, get their sigh of relief, and we all go back to business as usual." And then they blocked the FG. My 12-year-old, sports-addled brain couldn't process for a few minutes what I'd watched. Total blue screen. Like...what actually happened? A 1-AA school not only beat a 1-A school...they beat the #5 ranked 1-A school.
Only two real upsets. App State over Wolverines is greatest by far. 3rd level Alabama college team Jacksonville State defeating the cinnamon rolls at Tallahassee was hilarious.
Litterally said this Oregon state a dogshit team compared to usc at the time beat number 1 undefeated usc at home 2 times in 3 years lol these east coast bias ppl make me cringe
How is unranked Oregon State knocking off #1 USC in 2008 not on this list? Or unranked Oregon State knocking off #3 USC in 2006? That makes no sense to me.
Do you realize Southern Cal is UCLA right? "On May 23, 1919, the Southern Californians' efforts were rewarded when Governor William D. Stephens signed Assembly Bill 626 into law, which acquired the land and buildings and transformed the Los Angeles Normal School into the Southern Branch of the University of California."
@@WillMuny Southern Cal is USC (University of Southern California), which is a private school, which has a heated rivalry with UCLA (University of California-Los Angeles), which is a public school.
@@hermanuslemmer1695 No, Southern Cal is UCLA. Did you not read what I posted. Cal is the University of California Berkley. UCLA was founded as The Southern Branch of Cal. People who refer to USC as Southern Cal are Haters, and it is meant as an Insult calling USC, UCLA or a lesser version of Cal.
@@WillMuny Please let me know if this is accurate: You are saying because Cal is the University of California, Berkeley, and UCLA is the southward extension of the University of California, Berkeley, Southern Cal must be UCLA. I read what you posted and can't entirely agree with it. I just Googled "Southern Cal." I got several results for USC but nothing for UCLA. If Southern Cal is UCLA, as you maintain, would I not get results for UCLA when I Google Southern Cal?
If you consider College Football History to not exist before 1997, then maybe this collage of video clips has some creedence to it. But don't call it "in HISTORY" and leave out Michigan over Ohio State 1969, Oregon State over Washington 1985, and UTEP over BYU 1985. BTW, you omitted 41-point underdog Stanford beating #1 USC 24-23 at the Coliseum in 2007.
@@cyancyclone5642 I’m a salty Auburn fan man, I’m just trying to justify it lol. It could be worse, Bo Nix in his worst game ever as a college QB almost lost us a game vs Georgia State but TJ Finley out of all people led us to a game winning TD Drive.
Minnesota was favored by something like 33 points so yeah. I was at that game and it’s one of the most embarrassing losses I’ve seen from a Minnesota team. That’s saying something
yea that TCU/Colorado belongs nowhere near here. that TCU team wasn't even good and went 5-7. people need to stop pretending colorado actually did anything in 2023.
A lot of these are not really b8g upsets. I'll give you J State over FSU or App State over Michigan. But Texas over Bama? Tennessee over Bama? Not so much.
Only two real upsets. App State over Wolverines is greatest by far. 3rd level Alabama college team Jacksonville State defeating the cinnamon rolls at Tallahassee was hilarious.
