You can have alot of categories (best home run to win, best stikeout, etc) but the greatest basehit in WS history will forever be luis gonzalez base hit to beat the yankees in Arizona. What a base hit
@billny33
@billny33 6 месяцев назад
Only reason it wasn't a soft, routine lineout is the infield was in. maybe I'm a bit biased but I kinda think Edgar Renteria's base hit to end the 97 World Series is prettier and more legit. Gene Larkin's hit in 91 was basically a sacrifice fly that the outfielder quit on so I kinda feel similar to that one. But either way, the strategy of each situation means they were all legit game winners. I just think Renteria's hit would have been a hit at any point in the game. And it looked cool coming off the bat too. And I truly wish Joe Torre had played things at double play depth for Gonzalez. Jeter would have had it no problem and somebody would have needed to get a 2-out hit or it would have gone to extra innings.

Now all that's left is to wait for my Seattle Mariners to make it to the World Series, and hopefully win. We are the only MLB team who have never made it to the Series, and I would love for my dad's dream to happen, for his team to make it to the World Series (and win). I'm happy for every other team who's made it, but I'd love to see the Mariners make it and win. Fingers crossed.

It frequently ends with a strikeout. That makes sense since they will likely have their closer pitching then. The best defensive play to win was the 2005 White Sox. 2001 Diamondbacks were the only team hitting when they won.

And I give Joe Davis-a Dodgers announcer-credit for not being like “Astros win the World Series” in the most 2000-2009 Joe Buck monotone voice. He acted excited and it’s a call I’ll cherish until my death day. I know he wasn’t pulling for us but he made it special anyway. I don’t know if I’ll ever see my team win it again but Davis made it special.

Everyone was playing under the same rules in a tough situation. That one was just as legit as the Astros winning in 2017 and the Red Sox in 2018, when all of the MLB teams were cheating at the same time. In those situations, though, everyone was SKIRTING the rules in a tough situation.
