There were only four games released by Absolute Entertainment on the Atari 2600. Join me as I discuss each of the games and rank them along the way. Let me know what your ranking is! tiermaker.com/list/video-game...
F-14 Tomcat is surprisingly good for the 2600. I don't know if I would have played it as a child, but it is crazy that a flight sim was made for the VCS. B+ for F-14 and Pete Rose. B for Skate Boardin and Title Match.
Pete rose baseball was one of the better on the Atari! At least for me. Man completely forgot about that one… the man control & views got easier the more you play… Skateboarding was almost as good as Pitfall, once you had any idea what to do 😂
Okay I spent gobs of time on Wrestling. You had to have the sound off but it could be fun witha friend or cousin. Tomcat is the only game by Absolute on the 2600 I never played; I remember them having some really good Genesis era games too!
Yeah, after I filmed this ranking, I looked up opinions on Pete Rose Baseball and people really love that game. Sports games are a rough one for me to gauge because I am just not too familiar with the genre. I need to just put a big disclaimer on all sports games that all of my opinions on them should be taken with a grain of salt... I'm sure it probably deserves at least a C, but, just for me personally, it didn't really grab me. Maybe one day after I learn the genre a little better I will re-rank Pete Rose against the other sports games on the Atari and see how it stacks up. Skateboarding was an awesome find! I love that game!
@@AggieThunderpaw That is the beauty of doing a tier list, it is an opinion piece so as long as you are clear on your own metrics for it you need no apologies for the rankings! And you are always abundantly clear that sports games aren’t your jam - I certainly wasn’t surprised by the grade after your described experience. The tricky bit is that the nostalgia glasses can raise a rating for a game we grew up playing regardless of its objective qualities (or lack of qualities 😂)… can be hard to remember that the first time experience of an adult with limited time and focus is way different than the experience of a kid with endless retries and no other games to play. It’s like reliving the console wars in microcosms of each game’s remembered value 😁
