Hindu literature references millions of gods and goddesses. Of these, 60 are commonly known. However, due to time constraints in this video, I can't cover them all. If there's interest, I will create a Part 2 to continue the discussion.
As a Nepalese Hindu I only recognized about 60-70% of what was mentioned above about our Gods and Goddesses. Hinduism is so vast and profound that one might take his whole life to understand it. 🙏🕉️🛕
Let me start with a story: Akbar said to Birbal, we Muslims have Allah, Christians have Christ, Buddhists have Buddha. But you Hindus worship so many God's. Why is it so? Birbal said: God is one but his names are many. Akbar: How is it possible? Birbal summoned a servent who was wearing a “Turban”. He pointed to it and said: “what is that?” Servent said: A turban. Birbal: Untie it, roll it and tie it to your waist. When he had done so, Birbal askes, “what is that?” Servent answered: A Kamarbandh (waist belt). Birbal turning to Akbar: you have seen how the same cloth acquires different names when performing different functions. So also water can be a cloud when in sky, it is rain when it falls to earth, it is river when it flows, and ice when it freezes. Hindus are monotheists. There are not many Gods in Hinduism. There is one God who has many names and forms. I can give you one example, a mother can be mother to her child but she is a wife of your father, she is a daughter of your grandparents, sister of her brother and sister, mother in law of your wife or husband etc.. so all these members of your family will call her in different names e.g. MAA(mother), Didi (elder sister), Masi(Aunty), Bahu(daughter in law) etc. When she loves you or comfort you her form is very calm and loving, when she is angry with you her face shows anger like “Kaali”(goddess), when she gives you money she is worshipped as “Laxmi”(goddess), when you want to worship her to give you knowledge and skills, you worship as “Saraswati”(goddess). We Hindus see God everywhere even in mosque that is why we go to “Dargah”(shrine)
Hinduism is actually polytheistic religion. It's an advaita philosophy which claims Hinduism as a monotheistic. There are many philosophies and many ways. It's actually a way of life.
This is referring to the 33 Vedic devatas. In fact we have Puranic, Agamic, Tantric, and other deities such as the regional Kula devatas and grama devatas, Stana Devatas, Graha devatas and more. Adding up to more than 33 Devatas.

@@sopno2093, But science says no energy can be create or destroyed. It just changes forms. Even our Krishna said in Bhagavad Gita: Brahman is ultimate essence behind each and every reality around us. Hinduism is one of the world's oldest religions, and it has a rich and diverse pantheon of gods and goddesses. It's important to note that Hinduism is not a monolithic religion; it encompasses a wide range of beliefs, practices, and traditions. As a result, the number and nature of Hindu gods can vary depending on regional and individual beliefs. Here is an overview of some of the most prominent Hindu gods and goddesses: Brahma: Brahma is often regarded as the creator god in Hinduism. He is said to have created the universe and all living beings. Vishnu: Vishnu is one of the principal deities in Hinduism. He is known as the preserver and protector of the universe. Vishnu is believed to incarnate on Earth in various forms, known as avatars, to restore cosmic order. Some of his famous avatars include Rama and Krishna. Shiva: Shiva is the god of destruction and transformation. He is often depicted as a meditating ascetic, and he is associated with both the destruction of the old to make way for the new and the cyclical nature of existence. Durga: Durga is a powerful goddess who symbolizes the divine feminine. She is often depicted riding a lion and is known for her role in slaying the demon Mahishasura, representing the triumph of good over evil. Lakshmi: Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth, prosperity, and good fortune. She is often worshiped to bring about financial and material success. Saraswati: Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge, arts, music, and wisdom. She is usually depicted playing the veena (a musical instrument) and is revered by students and scholars. Ganesha: Ganesha is one of the most widely worshiped deities in Hinduism. He is known as the remover of obstacles and is often invoked at the beginning of new endeavors. Ganesha is easily recognizable by his elephant head. Hanuman: Hanuman is a monkey deity and a devotee of Lord Rama. He is known for his incredible strength, loyalty, and devotion. Kali: Kali is a fierce goddess associated with destruction and time. She is often depicted with a dark complexion and is a symbol of the raw power of the divine feminine. Krishna: Lord Krishna is a highly revered deity known for his teachings in the Bhagavad Gita and his role in the epic Mahabharata. He is often depicted as a charming and playful young man. Rama: Rama is a prince and the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu. His life story, as told in the Ramayana, is a source of moral and ethical guidance for many Hindus. Surya: Surya is the sun god and is worshiped for the light and energy he provides to the world. Indra: Indra is the king of the heavens and the god of rain and thunderstorms. He is a prominent deity in ancient Hindu texts. Yama: Yama is the god of death and the lord of dharma (righteousness). He is responsible for judging souls after death. Varuna: Varuna is a god associated with the cosmic order and the oceans. He is also a deity of justice and morality.

you vide was great but I would like to add some points we as a Hindu have two major trinity group male and female male one consist of lord ( BHARMA, VISHNU & SHIVA) female one consist of goddess( SARASWATI, LAKSHMI & PARWATI) ALL 6 of them are most important and respectful and most powerful deities of Hinduism and respectfully are each others husband and wife. And durga, annapurna, kali and sati are different avatars of goddess Parvati so IF YOU ARE PRAYING TO PARVATI THEN YOU ARE PRAYING TO ALL OF THEM. and so RADHA IS AN AVATAR OF GODDESS LAKSHMI & BHAMRI IS AVATAR OF GODDESS SARASWATI. Ganesh, Kartikey & Mansa are siblings. Sashthi or (devsena) is wife of Kartekye and daughter of Lord INDRA. and also swaha and agni are husban and wife.

Brahmā always has 4 heads and it's usually not visible for being in the backside. He is not old. His white hair signifies knowledge though he is not old. Viṣṇu is not blue, he's black in skin tone. Dhātā is barely known by anyone in our current age and is much less popular. Sūrya's iconography shown here is actually the form of Kārttikēya. Bhūmi's iconography shown here is of a certain aspect of Lakṣmī known as "Gṛha Lakṣmī". This form is not of Bhūmi. Varuṇa was never king of the gods and the iconography shown here is of his Āditya form in which he is blue, not fair skinned. In general, he is also depicted to be yellow in color. Vāyu is not green in skin, nor is he grumpy. He is fair in color. Ṣaṣṭhī's iconography shown here is actually of a manifestation of Lakṣmī known as "Santāna Lakṣmī".

I have lived my entire life in India and followed Hinduism. Even though the video has covered many deities I find some details incorrect (if I can use that term). First of all, Hinduism is not really a polytheistic religion. The supreme God of Hinduism is the 'Para Brahman'(not to be confused with 'Brahma' who is one among the Hindu Triumvirate) which literally means the supreme being. Some people like to worship Para Brahman with a form and address God as 'Saguna Parabrahman' and those who worship a formless God address God as 'Nirguna Parabrahman'. This fact about one supreme being is mentioned in various religious texts including the 'Bhagavat Gita'. Now the different Gods that ordinary Hindus worship are considered to be either various manifestations of Para Brahman or enlightened divine entities who are just below Para Brahman. Now the video already discussed the Triumvirate: Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Note that Brahma, even though considered the creator God, is NOT WORSHIPPED. There is a story behind it. Which brings us to Vishnu and Shiva. Those who believe in Parabrahman with form can be divided into three. Those who believe Shiva as the supreme being are called the Shaivites. Those who believe Vishnu as the supreme being are called Vaishnavites. (The division was very much prevalent in ancient India but now its less apparent). Then there are those who belive that the mother Goddess is the supreme being. All of this can get confusing. Hinduism is not a philosophy that one can understand so easily. Now the most popular Gods in India(this is where I have so much disagreement with the video) are: Shiva( and his different forms) Vishnu( and his different forms like Sree Krishna and Sree Ram) Goddess(and her different forms like Parvathi, Durga, Lakshmi, Saraswati, Kali etc) Ganesha/Vinayaka/Ganapathi(God of good fortune) Subrahmania/Muruga/Karthikeya(worshipped mostly in South India) Hanuman Ayyappa(also widely worshipped in South India). Some people worship Shirdi Sai and consider him part of Hindu pantheon but others disagree. One must understand that Hinduism is so complex and diverse. The beliefs, the Gods, the rituals, all vary across different parts of India. (The fact that in states like Rajasthan, most Hindus do not eat meat whereas if you go to Kerala or Tamil Nadu, most Hindus not only eat meat but they eat Beef which is considered a taboo by conservative hindus in north India).

@@mythicalsoulz4709Well every Hindu knows all Gods and Goddesses UNITED their powers to create Durga. So, obviously she's got more power cuz none of them individually could defeat that Rakshasa
@@dOVERanalyst No god was able to defeat him since his boon was that only a woman could kill him. I'll explain the other part to you, let's say u have 5 canisters if water and pour some water from the 5 canisters into the same glass and fill it. Now what holds more water a single canister subtracting the entire volume of the glass or the glass with some water from 5 canisters. I'm not using this as a direct comparison but calling Durga outright more powerful than any other god due to the gods contributing to make her is kinda illogical. This is why I believe that every version has its own story to tell and no version is outright superior to the other unless its proven that one version is older than the other.
Not every Hindu thinks the same, there are many types of people subdivided like shaivas, Vaishnavas, ppl worshipping ram, ppl worshipping Devi/maa. You must be from West Bengal ig. It’s just an ancestral thing.
I feel like half of these are not very popularly worshipped at all. Like Dhata, for example. If I had to pick the most popular Hindu gods, I'm pretty sure they're: Ganesha Vishnu -Rama -Krishna Shiva Parvati Durga Kali Saraswati Lakshmi Surya Murugan Hanuman These are the deities that have the most literature, temples, festivals, etc. dedicated to them and most Hindus (both highly devout and not highly devout) could tell you about them.

nah. Ithihasas (Ramayana and Mahabhartha) and Puranas can be neither called "myth" nor history". They have both real events and allegorical stories which represen well validated Vedic metaphysics, nature and laws of nature. Myth means fantasy stories which cannot be validated by logic. The word myth aptly fits fantasy stories propagated as history by Abrahamic religions which cannot be logically validated. There is an allegorical story in Mahabharatha which explains space time dilation (copied later by Einstein) . eg King Kakudmi visiting Brahmalokha with his daughter Revathi and staying their for just 20 min. When he returned he could not find any of his family and relatives, the sons and grandsons-and there was NO record of the family tree. An example of Maya of time.

Video is seriously underinformative and even somewhat delusive. I don't even know where to begin. First thing first, there is clear distinction between devatas, and Ishwara. Devatas are mortal like Indra, Vayu, Agni, etc. Also people are so naiive to immediately label any deity of this and that. Also, you cant label any goddess of this and that, Durga, Kali, Annapurna, etc. Are way beyond than protection, food, etc. They are Mahavidyas, who cut illisions of people to liberate them. Video looks to have been made after reading some articles peices from here and there without any authentic source.
I think this video is for common people who are new to Hinduism and simplification in describing the Hindu Pantheon. MOST of the people are unaware what our DEVATAS varies from different pantheons which became one. Vedic devatas, Puranic devatas, Agamic/ Tantric devatas, Regional and Tribal devatas etc. All are part of the Hindu Pantheon of divinity.

By Dhata, I hope you are referring to Bhagwan Dattatreya who is the manifestation of the Tri-Deva (Holy Trinity), because we don't actually know or worship a God named Dhata with the description you mentioned 3. We don't worship Devi Sati as Sati but instead as Shakti peetas (parts of her chopped body which fell on earth and manifested into a deity of their own) eg. Bhramhari Devi who is the 6th Shakti peeta (you can consider them idols in temple) and called Bhramarambika Devi. Also Sati was the first form of Adi-Par-Shakti (Bhagwan Shiva's female counterpart) and his 1st wife. Whereas Devi parvati is the exact same Adi-Para-Shakti but her 2nd form and Shiva's 2nd and final wife.
First correct your facts The female Trinity is not created by the male Trinity. They are the energies of the mald Trinity and both the counterparts cannot work without eachother. In Hinduism, Nirguna Brahman is the ultimate reality, formless and transcendent, embodying pure consciousness. Saguna Brahman refers to the divine with attributes and forms that are more accessible for worship. In Shivaism, Sadashiva is the supreme form, embodying both the transcendent (Nirguna Brahman) and the manifest aspects (Saguna Brahman), including creation, preservation, and destruction. In Vaishnavism, Narayana is a form of Vishnu representing Saguna Brahman, maintaining cosmic order and upholding dharma. He is also seen as a manifestation of the supreme, transcendent reality. In Shaktism, Adi Parashakti is the supreme goddess, representing Saguna Brahman with dynamic energy. She is connected to Nirguna Brahman as the source of all creation. In ISKCON beliefs, Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, embodying both the manifest form of Saguna Brahman and the source of all manifestations, encompassing Nirguna Brahman. Thus, while Nirguna Brahman is the formless essence, deities like Sadashiva, Narayana, Adi Parashakti, and Krishna are manifestations of Saguna Brahman, representing various attributes and forms of the divine.
