I'd say that Bael's tale takes place around a thousand years before the story, since Bael's son was killed in a Bolton revolt, and they last rebelled around a thousand years before the start of the story.

Then of course the uptight holier than thou stark booted the freefolk north of the wall the second the conflict ended... "thanks for your help, no way we could've won with out you. thanks to you my whole family and people didn't get annihilated, ok bye enjoy life freezing to death in the haunted forest and if I ever see you or yours south of the wall I'll take your head off with my giant sword!"

Mance is my favorite out of them. Hes got huge balls to feast with bobby b and ned. He is the wisest king they've had. He just wants his people to be safe from the others but they want to keep their religious beliefs and way of life. Its almost impossible for mance to do both. Love that guy

So i came across the third& fourth book this week. So my question is, are all the books connected? Like at the end of each book. Is there a cliff hanger? Do you think I should start on book 3 since I have it already? Or should I get one& two and before starting book three? Or does it not matter? I don't want to ruin the experience, but with it being December and having children and bills. I really don't even wanna treat myself to two books when I can get my son or daughter or close friend/ relative a extra gift! Plus I'm getting them on Xmas as my gift with a new pair of Tim's and a fresh North face. That's my Xmas. But what would you recommend? Start 3 now. Or wait?

Eightys Baby87 book 1 is season one and 2 is season 2. They both are worth the ready I just finished book two today and started on the third one.

@@brewdogg9359 wow that was fast? Yeah I heard that each book is a season, that's why the last season they winged it bc there wasn't a book. But my question was. Is there alot left out? Bc how he break's it down. He says this was in the book but not the show, or this was in the show but not the book. So I was wondering if I could keep up by skipping two novels 😂😂😂. Probably a silly question. Yeah I'm just gonna wait. Thanks for the quick response without being pretentious and pretending your smarter than the person asking you the question. @@eightysbaby8798 Seasons 1 to 4 are books 1 to 3 and are pretty faithfull but the little changes made there forced the show to change a lot more and others weren't adapted for other reasons. If you have only watched the show it's the same story but the problem is some details that would become important in the future, and If you haven't seen it, it's imposible you can understand what's going on.

If Bael walked the Kingsroad, this would mean he existed sometime between 62 ac (when King Jaehaerys the Conciliator began construction of the Kingsroad), and 103 ac (the end of his rule)----not all that long ago! Since the Starks seem to strike certain events from history (such as the identity of the Night's King), I could see them burying wildling heredity deep in the closet as well...

You know I'm starting to think the Starks great pr comes from a combination of actually being pretty decent to great lords, and some censoring of their history here and there from time to time, to keep up their public perception (Still better that most houses, but still, pretty "There is no war in Ba Sing Sei" of them)

You should do a compare and contrast video for the show adaptation and the books. For instance I believe characters like Jon and Robb are way more intelligent in the books than the show.

Im suprised the starks have never tried to use the wildlinds, despite the northerners at some points in history hating them, sometimes they have worked together, the wildlings seemingly always want to go south, why wouldnt the starks say we will give you land if you just go straight south past stark land, let the southerners deal with them

It’s probably just because of the chapter I’m on (Jon sees the fist of the first men for the first time) but in the show I always liked watching Jon’s story more than all the others but reading CoK, I’m more into Catelyn, Tyrion, and Aryas. Do you think I’ll be more interested in Jons story later on? I heard there’s no hardhome and that so I pray there at least some other interesting things that happen later in the books

I doubt very much Bael ever existed for two reasons: First, for it to be so recent that they are lords and not Kings(which can’t have been an oversight considering all others are very precise with whether the Starks are lords or kings), House Stark covering it up so thoroughly that no one other than the Freefolk know would be rather challenging. Second, and more important, his Son, who ended up becoming Lord Stark, was killed by a Bolton - there has been no Bolton rebellion while the Targaryens have been in power, and such a thing would not go unmentioned.

There have been way more Kings Beyond the Wall if we look it from a Wildling perspective, everything past the Wall (Including the North), is Beyond the Wall for them.

Did the ghiscari really have harpies? In the histories and lore video it shows a harpy fighting a dragon, is this symbolic? I haven’t any mention of actual harpies so I guess it’s symbolic?

There most likely were a few who didn't try to take the wall and just tried to build a home or city beyond the wall, but since they never attacked they disappeared before anyone wrote about them.

The kings beyond the wall evidently didnt really care about the wildlings as they only cared what happened to them during their own lifetime, you need a powerbase, without a centralized system the wildlings stood no chance, should build a city and have a council with every tribe having an equal vote, this allows work to be better spread amongst everyone, trade can be established with better weapons etc being given to wildlings
