alright I just came here for some martial arts jokes, but since you brought it up: it ain't "multiple personality disorder" anymore & hasn't been for a while: it's called DID or Dissociative Identity Disorder, and it only ever happens because of legit trauma. Also, you probably know a System (someone w DID), but the Alters (other "personalities) are good enough at acting like the Host (the "main" personality, not necessarily the original) that it's easy to hide, plus Singlets (people w/o DID) like me tend to treat them like freaks, so there's not much incentive for them to be open about it.

@@xpunkrockmomx Oh, it's true alright. Little kiddies in their soft pajamas already make up more than 50% of BJJ practitioners. No modern gyms allow kicks, punches, knees, elbows (which original Gracie gyms in Brazil covered to a reasonable extent); gyms and competitions often don't allow neck cranks, heel hooks, small joint manipulation; half of gyms start their rolling with both people already on the floor (leaving current practitioners underprepared against wrestlers or Judoka). I love BJJ, but for a true ''self-dense for da streetz'' perspective, they're not even the best grappling form anymore. A Judoka will win the fight the second he throws the earth at you, and you hit the ashphalt or concrete floor; and a wrestler will just pound you to a pulp from your guard. Within a very small amount of time most newcomers to the sport will be taught curriculum with such severe gaps that a lot of other combat sports will be able to exploit at will. Don't confuse what kids are learning these days with the stuff that let Royce Gracie win the first UFC events. The watering down already began years ago, it's getting more apparent, and soon will be unmistakable.

@@sensam6155 the stand up part was why I quit BJJ and turned to Judo. Judo also have it share of problems, But I find it a bit more "honest", and I ended up Not liking all the weed and conspiracy parts of My school. Love doing judo tho, also like how My teachers sell it as a olympic sport and Not "self defence".

@@creeplife2802 Well, Taekwondo separated into World Taekwondo (WTF, the Olympics) and International Taekwondo federation (more traditional, still allows punching to the head, more like kickboxing). The joke is that WTF made Taekwondo look stupid by having the modern olympics (olympic taekwondo is to fighting what olympic fencing is to sword fighting if you see what I mean) and by having lots of McDojos where it's very easy to have a black belt.

In shortest way possible: There was Jiu-Jitsu, which was more or less collective term for all martial arts in Japan - grappling or striking-wise. Jigoro Kano made a comprehensive curriculum of it, and called it Kano Jiu-Jutsu first, then Judo. Judo practitioners brought it to Brazil. Saying that Judo has sumbissions too is like saying there's parring and uppercuts in boxing. Please search YT for: Robert Drysdale: Opening Closed Guard. There are couple of interviews where he explains the origins of BJJ in detail.

Pls stop being like "uhhhhh, longsword would win against Japanese type swords so Japanese sword fighting systems are TRASH when compared to european systems!" It doesn't work this way. There are many aspects to it. Yes, longsword or Polish saber will mostly win in 1v1 fight against katana, but a mixed duel is just one aspect and isn't even the most important one.

@@kacperz5683 I never said it was cuz of the swords, it's the actual martial arts, kendo is just hitting very limited targets on the opponent with a bamboo stick, while HEMA has many different weapons, and grappling techniques and binds, and is not limited to hitting specific targets.

@@joatanpereira4272don't know bro early or late, but only thing I know is those painful 3 hrs of training were way too long. My mom's love and encouragement is the reason I survived those. Unlike other trainers who try to show their tough love and scold their students. Thank god my mom's isn't like that.

My friend who has been training for 4 years is only a gray and black belt in BJJ,. That's the third colored rank in the whole 12 children's belts. If she trains for, say, 2 more years (when you got a black belt) she would still only be a yellow belt. The fourth rank. And it took you that long to get a black belt?? Taekwondo is super easy to rank up in lol
