As a Taekwondo Martial artist, I choked on the “3 Year old black belts” because that is simply too true and probably one of the most shameful things I find with my club is people getting handed black belts like an all you can eat buffet.
@danielduplantis6469
@danielduplantis6469 3 года назад
And the worst culprit of handing out black belts isn’t even legit TKD. Tiger Rock has fallen so far from the tree.
@emmanueltavares4823
@emmanueltavares4823 3 года назад
And all we have after that is the amount of years matching per degree ranking of black 1st through 9th. Even then its not the same anymore especially if your school even follows that.

@@emmanueltavares4823 yeah, Kukkiwon posts the minimum required time in rank and age limits for each Dan. I saw a Tiger Rock picture of a 16/17-year old 4th Dan. In Kukkiwon you can’t make 4th until at least 21 years old. Hell, you can’t even make 3rd until 18.

Saw this a lot with schools, giving black belts in 1 year, TKD has too many mcdojos. My master was old and Korean so he was very strict and it took anyone in his school minimum 5 years to become a black belt. And his test was 8 hours long 💀
@emmanueltavares4823
@emmanueltavares4823 3 года назад
@@juanrivera6207 Thats how its roughly supposed to be. Here in Chicago my instructor might as well be one of the very few to have tests run real long if not being rhe only school here to do that. Most will just have you out the the door in 15 to 30 min. Being too old now n it being the type if business it is. He made it real affordable for everyone so he doesn't make profit, he just pays the bills. Which a factor into why school will have you test after a few months just to stay open.

TKD Can have some Really powerful Kicks. Key part is CAN. Its just the commercialized Dojos do not teach any real good Application. And The Spin where your Turing your back on your Opponent. Its in a LOT of styles. That move works really only if some one is straight up rushing to you and a VERY limited amount of other situations. Its a Fun Kick. Not that practical. But I have learned ALL martial arts has such things.
@Minsang1st
@Minsang1st 3 года назад
@@nunyabiz7699 back kick can be used offensively to hit first. You just have to dial it in and be accurate with it and not throw it multiple times to the point your opponent can read the pattern. And that’s really what one of the keys with spinning techniques is, element of surprise. They are inherently riskier than jab cross hook or round kick, but if you can hide it well enough with other techniques and have a good technique, it works.

It's up there with muay thai for really selling you on just a small handful of highly effective techniques... at first, before TKD slips into the stage where your instructor says you have to count and learn vocabulary in Korean and practice funny hand movements to get your next belt. Which is like 3 belts in, in my comparatively limited 2 year experience. Kinda flounders from there, teaching silly stuff like multiple kicks in one jump, spinning several times in the air before kicking, etc. Until then tho, the basics work. Really though, the side kick, back kick, and footwork are excellent with even a little practice, if not practical for any normal person to use against a prepared combatant. But then you've got folks like Anderson Silva KO'ing world class competition with a straight kick to the face, so like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@@leahccorpuz7208 That is because Krav Maga was Develop in more recent history as a Military combat Application Art in Live combat situations. By Israel. To use in the Armed Forces. Specifically while the Area was recently settled and in some of the most dangerous and heavy Combat. Close Quarters Combat was not uncommon for their forces when sweep and clears or advancing on enemy strong holds. And in those situations they never took prisoners. It has since been watered down. And then hyped up. It looks some what different now when taught to Civilians than it did when taught to Military. Main things are. Its a style designed to be used by people with Excellent physical fitness. As well as Reaction times. Both being trained hard in the military. It also relies on a High level of Aggression and a Flight or fight reflex that will by programing in said military move to Fight almost every time. Its not really a Good art for mass Civilian use. But A lot of people get off on how it IS really dangerous to an untrained person. And how brutal it can be.

@@nunyabiz7699 If you find good instrictors that have actually been trained in israel a lot of them also implement that kind of fight response and agression needed for IRL use into their training sessions the thing that makes krav dangerous in street fights even against people who *casually* train martial arts is that the techniques are mostly based on human instinct then developed further and are thus very very easy to learn and implement in adreneline filled situations bc of muscle memory

Love how everyone shits on TKD but he actually demonstrated an effective technique and did so well. And for the people saying how "you shouldn't turn your back" on an opponent, that kick--when done well and at full speed--is *fast*. If done with proper set up, the poor soul won't even see it coming, or won't be able to react fast enough.
