In 2023, they've had the highest avg attendance rate in the MLS (47,526), which is higher than the LA Dodgers (47,371), and the Dodgers had the highest average attendance rate in the MLB. Granted, MLB teams play 161 matches a season, which is insane. Still, Atlanta has grown a whopping 16% in attendance from the year before. The entire MLS grew 5% in average attendance and it's expected to double that growth this year. You can see why football is on the rise in the US. If you look at Google trends based on RU-vid searches, "Soccer" beats almost every other sport in the US except for American Football, but the difference is small. The MLS would've dwarfed every NFL or NBA team if it wasn't for the fact football is a global sport and most American fans of football follow clubs outside of the country (EPL, La Liga, Serie A, etc.) and are slow to support a local club, although it will most likely happen in the next 5-10 years. In the NFL or NBA, American fans of the sport have only local clubs to support, especially because local clubs are the best at the sport and it's not big outside of the country (except for basketball, which is a favored sport in some countries outside the US).
