I love how Ed actually gives alot of credit to the animators and sound directors, and all of the behind the scenes people, it's honestly really sweet when those people are acknowledged.
@@GhostbusterPalu I couldn’t disagree more. He favors some fans and not others. I can’t stand the guy. We have so many fans clamoring for characters they haven’t even gotten to play as for 14 years, and all he keeps doing is putting the same characters in constantly. He just doesn’t care about them.

I think they did something like that, a fatality where she takes a selfie with her dead and horribly slaughtered opponent and uploads it where other characters comment on it
@@YyPlayz-hw5zr not really - He talks about the general process in a vid by a channel called Noclip, but that's only a 4-minute vid. Ninh's idea of going in-depth to each on is way different and leagues more interesting imo.

the fact that animators did frost's friendship by hand is just wow. As person who does animations I understand how hard it is to do that feel of real movements espetially that complex and fluid. It is mindblowing
Or that Baraka borrowed Kitana's MK2 friendship. It also would've been cool if he mentioned how some characters even reference their friendship elsewhere, like how Mileena breaks a mirror with her face and Sub-Zero summons a snowman after doing a brutality.
When I used to see the old starburst commercials, where they kept the wrapper on. When I eventually got my first piece ever I didn't know there was a wrapper on it and ended up eating it along with the taffy xD
You can really see the passion he has for his creation and the respect he has for his team. We're very nearly at 30 years of Mortal Kombat, and this guy seems just as excited as he was at the beginning.
Ed Boon is just such a natural dad. I dunno how to explain it. Listening to him talk, its like his team is like his kids and he's so proud of the final product.
Ed Boon had a great idea in 1992, and rather than just plainly coasting off of that idea, he's reinvented his idea 11 times for nearly 30 years. Still has the passion too. Gotta love the guy, he's a video game icon.
Seeing these deadly warriors, who have been through so much turmoil and strife throughout the entirety of the MK lore, just smiling and having a fun time through these friendships really warms your heart a little.
Dude she has a FMK intro for crying out loud, it's pretty obvious she represents the younger generation. Though I will say, I love her redesign as I didn't care for her much at all in MKX.
I personally think Sindel should have had a build up to her terrifying screech, but then break into an opera singing session with spotlights, and her final note would break all the lights. Finish with a laugh and bow.
i remember her having this in one of her older renditions! i dont remember an exact game but she did do an opera like friendship and the opponent did cover their ears :)
Noob’s is by far the best one. It’s the funniest and every time I play as him I pick the friendship over the fatality simply because how happy it makes me
Personally, perhaps this is just head canon, but I like to imagine the friendships do represent something about the characters outside their combat abilities, even if taken to silly degrees. Like, yeah Spawn likes to read slash fic in his spare time, Jax actually does play the Saxophone. Milleena's I think does reflect her inner desire to be accepted by the others, Sub-Zero does actually like ice cream...because it's cold treats, but not the way his friendship treats it.
One thing I noticed about Mileena's Friendship is that the Kitana and Jade teddy bears have normal eyes and mouths, but the Mileena teddy has sharp teeth and snake-like eyes, referencing how Mileena looks compared to the other female ninjas.

Mileena’s friendship is quite sad actually. Obviously it’s not canon but it reflects on the fact that she just wanted to get along with her sister and Jade. Note that Kitana and Jade are on one side of the table together while Mileena is on the other helping the teddy when it falls over (supporting herself and trying to control her erratic behaviour alone).😭
Plus, while other two are normal - Mileena's teddy misses one eye. It's her self image of being imperfect and therefore shunned. It's pretty sad really.
I can't lie, I thought both Scorpion and Mileena's friendships were referencing Mileena trying to give Scorpion a teddy bear in the challenge tower in MK9
"We could have given the friendship to Goro or Sheeva, but Kollector got it in the end." We're only seeing this man at 70% of what he's capable of, imagine if he used all 6 arms.
@20:30 I love that Mileena's teddy bear doesn't have a mask on and has teeth, whereas the other teddy bears have their masks on. I think it says something about her as a character. She doesn't have to wear her mask when she's with her friends. :D So deep inside, maybe all she really wants is to be seen. ;)
Here's a few things, 1. In mk9 scorpion says randomly that he hates teddy bears, and we see him hug one showing how much he's changed 2. Johnny cages is reference to the Warner bros frog,3. jax makes a refrencence to the epic sax guy, and 4. Looking at the book, spawn is reading a adult rated romance novel
The longer I look at Ed's face the longer I consider him having a side gig where he patches up stuff with some sticky tape. You know, the one the one that can fix a boat up.

What would have made Spawn’s friendship complete would be to have him reading “Dante’s Inferno”. The friendships are always interesting. Happy to have them back.

@@Khan-_-Art1st being a stunt guy is a lot like being a free agent of the entertainment industry. If your niche skill set is applicable, a production of some kind is bound to take notice.
The only thing I wish is that the Friendships had more interaction with the character's opponent, and had more to do with showing their opponent an act of friendship. As good as they are now, the Friendships really just involve the winning character doing something by themselves.
True like say Sonya’s friendship, instead of the roblox bringing an tarkatian, it would bring to opponent or rain having a competition with the opponent and so many more ideas
It's so cool learning about the behind the game details. Like noob saibot(s) name, the fact that the creators used their own voices for the characters and the reason Shang Tsungs character morphed into other characters was because lack of memory!
About Spawn's Friendship, I noticed how accurate was to make a simple, short, but, strong, reference to a "private moment", because of the sax, clear homage to Careless Whisper, and the way he sneaks for someone watching him. Just perfect.
So as a Kotal main, not having him change to the cat to chase a laser pointer was a huge miss for me. Just imagine the laser on the screen and the cat comes up to the screen to try and catch it. Would have been... FANTASTIC
It’s pretty easy to see why people complain if you look at the asinine way that NRS handles a lot of things, such as communication. Or even basic things like releasing patch notes with a patch.
The lore is awesome, the games are worth criticism. Like, why couldn't the roster be 32 versions of Mileena? Where's MK "Bugs and Teeth", the game where Mileena fights through Devora versions of every character?

I think predator would wear a magicians hat and do a magic trick making a rabbit disappear by using the technology they use to turn invisible of course. As for alien I think maybe would initiate a game of frisbee with a frisbee that looks like a spaceship or maybe get out a yo yo that looks like a spaceship. Something spaceship related anyway, oooooh I know a remote control spaceship drone lol.
I love that one of the goriest games ever has enough self awareness for how bonkers it is to put in goofy stuff like this, but enough artistic integrity to make them just as entertaining as the fatalities.
