it's amazing that Petula Clark is 90 years old today. Those were the best songs of all time! I'm glad that I could hear them before I die. I am 71 years old.
They would had more but they had songs that were kept off the top spot by another of their own songs. In April 1964 they held the 1,2,3,4, and 5 positions in the chart.
Best music ever. I think I have almost all of these songs in some form. One error for 1967:The Association is shown singing "Never My Love" and it is labeled as "Windy".
Oh these songs bring back soooo many sweet memories of fun times in the 60's....esp the ones from 64-68 when I was a student at UT Austin and went out partying and dancing to them every weekend......WOW!!! Thank You...😍🥰
I have every single song on this playlist in my music library, the only exception is the song "Wooden Heart", I have the version by Elvis Presley instead of Joe Dowell.
Elvis Presley 😍, Chubby Checker, Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs, Ray Charles, The Tokens, Bruce Channel, Little Eva, Lesley Gore, The Essex, The Supremes, Roy Orbison, The Temptations, The Rolling Stones, Sonny & Cher, Percy Sledge, Tommy James and the Shondells, The Troggs, The Monkees, Aretha Franklin, The Doors, Ehe Archies. Great Songs.
Notice you have to us the Donny Osmond version of Go Away Little Girl. He's the same generation as me so he would have been a baby in the early sixties. 😁❤️ Interesting clip of Nancy Sinatra singing with her brother Frank Junior, because he father wasn't available, for a television performance. Frank Junior's voice was very similar to his father's. 🎶❤️ That wasn't Peter, Paul and Mary, that was Mama Cass and John Denver, who wrote Leaving On A Jet Plane, which eerily sums up what happened to him.
Década prodigiosa la de los 60. La verdadera competencia de Los Beatles no fueron los Rolling Stones, ni los Beach Boys ni Dave Clark Five ni los Herman Hermits. Fueron The Supremes.
I love the music but some of the songs you don't have matched up with the titles. The Association is singing, Never My Love but you have it titled as Windy. May want to double check some of them, but I enjoyed to video and the memories, Thanks

In the clip for Windy the band is playing Never My Love. Also the clip you used for Leaving on a Jet Plane has Mama Cass and John Denver not Peter, Paul & Mary
The worst songs are Winchester Catherdral and Walk Right In. But the rest of the 60s is probably much better than the no 1 hits demonstrate. Bet the no 2 songs are just as good. Seems like Psychedelia is underrepresented here. Favs: Johnny Rivers' Poor Side of Town, Groovin', Quarter of Three, Do Wah Diddy Diddy, I Feel Fine, The Tighten Up, To Sir with love, Incense and Peppermints, You've lost that loving feeling, 8 Days a week, She's Got a Ticket to Ride, Satisfaction, Paint it Black, Sounds of Silence, Light my Fire, Sunshine Superman, Penny Lane, Leavin on a Jet Plane. Why did I even start this list.. so much greatness.
Walk Right In is a groove. Anything by Gary whatshisface and The Union Gap is pervy. The Green Beret song is amateur time. Go Away Little Girl: see Union Gap reference.
I think you played 2 versions of "Big girls don't cry" by the Four seasons Oh and one more thing, you played the wrong "Go away little girl" and inputted the Donny Osmond instead of Stevie Lawrence
The songs that were not by the original singer (ex, Donny Osmond's #1 (Sep. 11, 1971; 3 wks. version replacing the original #1 in Jan. 5-12, 2 wks). 1963, Steve Lawrence, or hearing The Association's "Never My Love" song instead of "Windy") was obviously due to copyright problems.
Dude, you got re-recordings of songs, same song but different artists, songs from movies and not the singles themselves, live recordings, and the songs are so short you can’t even get a feel for the song.
Often the copyright stealers will take the funding or block the videos, if they are longer pieces or from the original radio singles. Even for 60s songs these thieves are miserable.
As if the entire world was English-speaking. This clearly shows that it's an industry with a purpose. You don't become famous because of talent. You must deliver a message; the message of those who make you famous so that it reaches everyone.
In summary: Before the Beatles, the songs from the early 60s were mostly garbage. Things changed in a big way with the arrival of the Beatles. Other entertaining groups of that decade were the Rolling Stones, the Temptations, The Rascals, Jefferson Airplane, the Fifth Dimension, the Doors, Santana, the Four Tops, the Troggs, Credence Clearwater, The Beach Boys, and Aretha Franklin.
Yes 1960-62 were really culturally a continuation of the 1950s (though I could never lump Elvis in with ‘garbage’) 1963 change was afoot and 1964 onwards was full steam ahead with the popular music revolution. The Beatles (Beach Boys and Stones too) sent shockwaves around the World and were the inspiration behind a lot of the brilliant acts that followed.
