Born 1966 and to only have a cheap battery powered AM transistor radio to listen to these songs was probably the greatest feeling back then. I can still smell the smell the raido had. Born in the 60s lived through 70s ,80s,90s and into 2000s. I'd have to say the 70s were the best years.

The amazing thing about them years was that pop music was great, rock n roll was great, motown was great, heavy metal was great, country was great, yes all was great. There will never be another period of time with music like that, and that includes the whole decade. Long live the 70s, and the Rock N Roll Generation.

All the best songs ever written were from the 70s, or 60s. So much talent, creativity, originality, and innovative music. Try as they might, artists in the 21st century are mostly derivative, mediocre, with a few exceptions, or else auto-tuned mass produced urban dance tracks!!
@FreshCreativeFrog25
@FreshCreativeFrog25 3 года назад
I was born in 1999, and I can undoubtedly say that there’s a huge, almost inexplicable difference between popular music from the 70s and the popular music of recent years. Not only in terms of craftsmanship and musical composition, but I think it all boils down to class. Music today completely lacks class. You don’t even have to listen to it to know that; all you have to do is read the lyrics. All these artists from the 70s seemed to have such a way with words, and artists these days can’t seem to go ten seconds without throwing in explicit words or making something hyper-sexualized... and as I’ve witnessed; it has very toxic effects that direct how the audience choose to live their lives; what exactly they prioritize in life... I’m afraid to say I feel I was born much too late. I can only wish for music to truly be good again.

You are truly wise, and EVERYTHING you've stated is SPOT ON! Today's reality is especially sad and troubling for all of us who grew up and came of age in a world that was much, much different from ANYTHING we could have envisioned back then. The artists who graced us with their musical brilliance through the 1960's and 70's are mostly gone or in their golden years, and can never, ever be replaced. Sadly, we live in an "upside down" society, where things that were once viewed as abnormal, wrong, or unaccepted, are, today, considered completely normal and embraced by a culture and generation who will never understand otherwise. Tenderness, respect for oneself and partner, dating, going steady and courting have been repaced by a media-driven culture of "gangsta-wanna be's", "pimps" and "whores", and the lifestyle that accompanies that culture; one that today's young people have fully embraced. It isn't surprising, then, that teens and young adults are losing their lives to gun violence and taking their lives in record numbers, along with dealing with depression and anxiety isses that we, of a certain age, could have never imagined back then. Our music reflected our lives...we were happy, socially engaged and "in love" (not "gittin' it") and we were just fine!

You are wise beyond your years, young man! And, you know, they will agree with you on any continent of the Earth) I'm from Russia. In '72, I was 7 years old, and I learned about the music that sounds in this video much later - both because of my age and because of the "Iron Curtain".. But how I like her! And this music, and the one that was in the 70s in the Soviet Union. But I want to tell you - after all, these are hits, and there was much more music, as there is now. And I am sure that you will be able to find your masterpieces in the 21st century, and something will definitely become a hit and a classic)) All the best to you! ☀️🤝🌷

The 1970s were the greatest decade for music, the was the peak of many genres like soul, funk, reggae, pop, rock and disco (which I know had a lot of heat but I loved it). The talent poll was incredible and the records then. I can go on but I think you all get the point. The 1950s-1980s were the absolute peak of music in every aspect. Thank you for the childhood memories of this video Some Random Guy... Take care!

She was pregnant with my sister but she gave me a bath, put me in my pj's and we would walk down to the neighborhood carry out to get snacks. We would talk and I would question her about being pregnant. It was just me and mom. I cherished that time with her.

@@atlanticbeach4682 I can't say I miss them - for the most part the quality was extremely poor and they tended to skip grooves very easily. I am constantly AMAZED at the number of young people who are discovering the music of the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's for the first time, their reactions are PRICELESS. There are MANY, MANY, MANY young people out there that actually prefer this music than the music they grew up on and the numbers seem to be growing daily, it is mind boggling. I remember seeing one young couple (Probably in their 30's) and the husband said to his wife (Paraphrasing) baby where was this music when we were growing up I feel cheated because this music is AWESOME, I think we were born too late, and the wife says I agree 100% baby. You hear sentiments like this from young people over and over and over and over, it's GREAT. I was born in the 50's grew up in the 60's and 70's and from all of us that grew up on this INCREDIBLE music to the younger folks, as they say in the Time-Life music commercials, thanks and enjoy the music.

Born in the U.S. in 1964.....FM radio was picking up steam in 74', surpassing AM radio in 1978. I discovered Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Steele Dan....it was not heard on AM at all. FM radio was run by rebel DJ's and free of cookie cutter formats, I listen to whole albums on a transistor radio under my pillow at night. That's how I remember the 70's.
