I'm shocked the "Shame of Manchester" isn't included. Maybe because it was in my random FIFA Manager save in like 2034 but still. 1-1 at half time, however United got 3 red cards and we (AFC Wimbledon) won 1-10. United actually still won the league but actually only conceeded 37 goals all season.

as a Southampton supporter i gotta say the Leicester 9-0 was more humiliating. at MU we had a squad decimated w injuries and even appealed to have the game postponed, which was denied. in the 1st or 2nd minute, an academy player making his debut got a deserved straight red which doomed us there. later on in the match Bednarek was given a wrongful red card (i say this because the red was later rescinded) and the match wouldnt have been 9-0 w out that. obviously 6 or 7 nil is still a disgrace but there were multiple factors outside of So'ton's control that contributed to the 2nd 9-0. so because of that Leicester was far more humiliating

I believe that, had that Man United one happened during the COVID era and been because of a breakout, it *would* have been postponed, and Hassenhüttl even called it out after a Newcastle game got postponed for a similar reason. Losing to 9 man Walsall was bad, but sneaky 1-0 wins happen against the odds all the time. Losing 4-0 at home to an Isthmian League team is much rarer and more painful.

As a Brazilian, It's really interesting to get to know some of the lowest moments in Premier League clubs histories. Around here, the greatest "vexames" (embarrasment, shame) usually are - as Alfie described in a Lot of his choices - surrounded by a larger context of a campaign, rivalry, an entire club period and/or even "off-pitch" aspects, such as players, directors, chairmen actions and statements. A lot of times, It's not only the poorest performance or the heaviest scoreline that defines the greatest humiliation. It can be a specific match that "encapsulates and symbolizes" a relagation Season of a big club, for example. Nevertheless, another really fine video!

As a WBA fan, smashing Wolves 5-1 was incredibly satisfying, I think there was a riot in Wolverhampton town centre afterwards, it must have been horrible to be on the other end of that. We maybe in a lower league now but we have had it over them for so long in the derby. We've only lost to them 3 times since 1997, winning 13 in the process including a very memorable 3-0 win in the FA Cup where we were given their seats in exchange for Wolves fans getting a pie and pint voucher. In terms of our own most embarrassing defeat there have been a few in my lifetime, including a few thrashings in the prem, ones that stand out are losing 6-0 and 5-0 to liverpool at home, but I think losing to Wimbledon 1-0 in 2004 is one that has stuck in my mind. They had just moved to Milton Keynes and finished bottom that season. They only bought about a 100 fans and still managed to beat us. Very depressing game all round.

I think when compiling such a list, it might help to consider what the result means to the winning side. If you're playing Liverpool or Manchester United, and you've got a bad day while they've got a great one, then conceding 6 to 8 goals can happen. But to them, this'll be merely a side note in their history, On the other hand "remember when we won despite being two men down after half an hour?" is the stuff of legends, and will probably get talked about for decades to come among fans of that club - especially if they're not regularly winning any trophies

Great video! Though if it was made today, Man U's might now be updated to losing 7-0 to Liverpool. Man Utd went into that game sitting 3rd in the table, off the back of a League Cup triumph at Wembley against a much improved Newcastle Utd, as well as beating Barcelona 2-1 in the Europa League. Liverpool meanwhile were sat 6th, and in the build-up to this game, had just lost 5-2 at home to Real Madrid, drew 0-0 to Crystal Palace, and struggled to beat Wolves 2-0. In a game that should have seen Man Utd in full confidence, they actually started the game well, but utterly capitulated following a Cody Gakpo goal just before half-time.

What a game the 8-2 against Arsenal was. Im a die hard United fan from Sweden. I bought a ticket to that game online and was told to pick it up at some agent in Manchester. I was meant to pick up by 1pm on the Saturday before the game. After waiting until 9am for a friend who was meant to come from Birmingham and drive me to Manchester i ended up taking a train. When i got to Manchester it turned out i had to take a tram to the agent. By the time i got of the tram, it was almost 1pm and i was rushing. I ran out the tram looking down at the papper with the address to the agent when i suddenly felt a sharp pain to my head. It turned out i had ran into a pole and split my eyebrow open. With blood gushing down my face i continued to run to the agent only to find it was closed by the time i got there. Dissapointed and in pain, i figured that if i go to Old trafford the club would give me a ticket. Only to be told that they didn’t recognize the agent that had sold me the ticket and that it was fake. I pleaded with them and told them that i was a die-hard fan from Sweden, only to be told that ”this happens all the time” 😤 Dissapointed and in pain, i angrily walked out and wondered around Old trafford in a daze, crying and blood running down my face because it was raining by then. After an hr or so, while standing next to the holy trinity, i was approached by a man. After asking me what was wrong and me telling him, he asked me how much money i had on me. I had more, but told him i had sixty pounds left on more. Then he told me he had a ticket in the away section that he could sell me for that. After buying the ticket from him, he told me to go to the hospital because of my sore (i hadn’t been aware it was that bad). You can imagine how surprised i was when a woman walked into the waiting room at the hospital and presented herself as the sister of the man who had sold me the ticket. Her brother had told her the story and she had come to check on me. She gave me her number and told me to call her when i was done. I called her and she came and picked me up and drove me to her house where me, her 80 yr old mother and her had dinner. After dinner me and her brother hung out and it turned out he was a die hard fan who had been at a couple of CL finals. He offered me to sleep over but i declined because i had booked a room by a pub close to Old trafford. Later that night we went out and had some drinks before calling it a night. The next day i watched the game and couldn’t believe my eyes. Unfortunately i couldn’t celebrate the goals because i was with the arsenal fans😂 What a memory, this video just reminded me of that day. But also how total strangers can be so kind and thoughtful. It’s a shame there are not more people like that. Unfortunately i lost my phone and contact with that guy, but wish i could find him somehow and invite him to 🇸🇪

IMO, Liverpools most embarrassing defeat surely has to be their 1-0 1998 FA Cup Final defeat to Wimbledon. Back then nobody gave Wimbledon a chance in hell, some papers even had them losing double digits in the final. Liverpool being the team of the 80's and as dominant as you can imagine they thought Wimbledon in the final would be a stroll in the park. All this just for Wimbledon to go 1-0 up and Dave Beasant becoming the first goalkeeper to save a penalty in an FA Cup final practically winning the cup for a side who had been a non-league club no more than 12 years prior.

I would have picked the 4-0 FA Cup Final defeat by Man Utd for Chelsea. Even though we finished 14th that year, we beat League Champions Man Utd 1-0 home and away that year, and it was expected to be a very close game. To be beaten so comprehensively in arguably the biggest English game of the season (The FA Cup was still considered the banner competition back then) was a massive blow for Chelsea (and me as a 17 year old watching my team in their first FA Cup Final of my lifetime).

Personally, while the 6-1 home defeat to City is inescapable and cemented a major paradigm shift in the English game, I think the 5-0 home defeat to Liverpool felt much, much worse considering the progress we were making under Ole prior to that point. It also sent me into a depression personally, which the City game did not, so take your pick I guess lol

Chelsea's 6-0 defeat to QPR on 31st March 1986 was our worst-ever, I'd say. We finished 6th that year (QPR were 13th), but we were also relegated two seasons after. This time period has often been referred to as "the shit years" for good reason. I've been a Chelsea girl my whole life, but was lucky enough to have been born just after 💙🤍 #KTBFFH

As a Newcastle fan the one you chose for us is wrong, our most humiliating defeat came way back in 1908 with a 9-1 defeat at SJP to Sunderland. Our heaviest defeat ever...and it had to be to THEM. At the time we were the best team in England as well.

Was at the 8-2 drubbing of my beloved Arsenal at that shit hole, Old Trafford. Saw a remarkable number of octogenarians weeping with joy over what had taken place. It was a remarkably sobering moment. Absolutely horrific.. Still paying off the debt from that trip. Wouldn’t alter a thing. We drove 2,600 miles about the place, attending 13 matches over the course of 17 days taking in matches far and wide, of many levels… Wales, England and Scotland. Had the time of my life! COYG!!! ✌🏼❤️🥂 from Colorado, USA.

Amazed you didn’t think Leicester losing to Wycombe was the biggest lcfc shock! FA Cup Quarter Final, Leicester were in top 5 of the Premier League at the time whilst Wycombe had to advertise for a striker! I believe Leicester went in free fall after that which took 10 years to recover from

One other Villa defeat that deserved a shout is Bradford 3 Villa in the 2013 League Cup semifinal first leg. Maybe that one game wasn’t humiliating enough, Villa could only win the home leg 2-1, and a Premier League losing over two legs to a side in League 2 is certainly humiliating. Especially a big club that hasn’t won a trophy since 1996.

Though maybe not their worst ever loss, as a Yorkshireman whose boss at the time was a Man U fan, I truly enjoyed York City beating Man U over 2 legs in the League Cup back in 95. Massive Man U vs the minnows of York. Nice.

As an Ipswich fan, the nine nil at old trafford still gives me nightmares. But we smashed the same team 6-0 at Portman Road in 1980, so there is a massive cushion of comfort in that.

Nah the Southampton 9-0 wasn't the most humiliating. 2 red cards, (the first after 2 minutes) covid outbreak meaning 2 youth team players with less than 5 starts between them had to play. The real humiliating defeat was back in the league cup in 1980. Southampton were 2nd in the table(finished 6th), had 5 internationals playing, had won the first leg 4-0 against a team in the division below. Even rested European footballer of the year Kevin Keegan. Promptly lost 7-1. I was there, sadly.

Bournemouth's 9-0 defeat to Liverpool was their joint worst loss. In December 1982 they also lost 9-0 to my team Lincoln in what is now League One in what was Harry Redknapp's first game in charge fir the Cherries. Bournemouth's keeper was actually man of the match as it could have been well into double figures.

As a Northampton fan, most humiliating since I’ve been following us (2007/08) and my top three have to be: 1. Shrewsbury Town 7-2 home defeat in November 2011. 2. Plymouth Argyle 4-1 away literally just after the Shrewsbury one. Plymouth at this point had financial issues and were the whipping boys of League Two at this point. An insulting performance. 3. 1-0 defeat to Stourbridge in the FA Cup in 2016/17. Several divisions below us and overall, just embarrassing.

I think Tottenham losing to Man City in an FA Cup 4th Round replay was worse than the West Ham loss. Losing away to West Ham wasn't such a strange thing. Losing at home to pre takeover Man City after taking a 3-0 lead before halftime, to a team that had to substitute Nicholas Anelka halfway through the first half and had Joey Barton sent off for arguing with the referee after the halftime whisltle was blown was far worse. That was a long bus ride home that night....

As an Arsenal fan, I think the penalty shootout defeat to Bradford in the League Cup was more embarrassing than the 8-2 to Manchester. The former saw an almost full-strength Arsenal side desperately chasing a game against a League Two team (complete with Gervinho missing one of the easiest goalscoring chances I've ever seen), while the latter saw a massively inexperienced and underpowered Arsenal side capitulate after a red at a ground they've historically never done well at.
