I like the 4. Def the best of all worlds. The sound stays uniform in both registers

Thank for commenting. Yes, I agree. 4 is my preference for tenor sax.

Interesting! I liked the 5 the most, 80% of the time, but the 4.5 was more consistent while still being closer to the sound. 4 even more so. I'm a clarinetist though so my sound ideas are probably different lol

I’m impressed you got a good sound out of all strengths. I use a 2.5 and if I tried to blow a 4 I’m sure I wouldn’t get a sound from it. What was it like from a playing point of view?

Thanks for watching and commenting! I explain a bit of that in the full video this excerpt is taken from. Basically the harder the reed the more air support you need. I usually play #4 on tenor so for me it was most difficult playing the softer ones. Hope you can check out the full video. Thanks again.
