EVERY Rlaarlo AK-917 Upgrade! 

This is fun content, I'm a speed run noob myself and it's definitely a learning process. The way it wanders around makes me think the toe settings might be off.

I'm late to the party but the comment about gluing the servo saver solid is going in the right direction. The servo itself centers fine but the servo saver gets sticky. I over tightened mine when it started to act up and has been fine since.

You need to heat up almost every screw but its better than the alternative when $hit starts shaking off your car at 100mph. Nice to see they took the time to lock tight.

Turn your dual rate down to 30% Have a slight toe out on the front wheels. Use the throttle speed on the controller at 7 - 10 seconds. Change the pinion gears back over and get some passes in as you might be over-geared now.

Yes! She is Pretty😂 And NO! Ur not going to break it, from what ive seen ur a pretty good driver. I know that u have came a long way in RC. I remember back when u first started ur channel u was all about stick lever Radios and Nickel Metal Batteries.

If u have a soldering gun get it hot and hold it to heads of those 4 screws for a few mins that has the Loctite on them that ur having trouble getting out or if they strip on you. Then take ur Dremel tool with a thin cutting disk and cut a single line across and deep enough than each side levels off with the crabon then u can take a flat head or flat blade screw driver and that should back it off. Which normally just doing that will get them off but thats only if u dont have more screws to replace it with. But im sure u already know all of this idk why i even mentioned it

Great vid mate. There was so much hype for this and I cant help but feel Rlaarlo haven't delivered 100%. We were promised an out the box 100mph+ machine with little to no effort to make that happen. Sort of like every RC hobbyists dream. They sold it to us early on and unfortunately its not quite doing as promised. I had range issues resulting in a crash in march and like you I received my bag of shiny metal goodies but not the actual spares I needed (Which I ordered with my own money and was promised they would be sent alongside the bling) this didn't happen. They are going ahead with the speed event even though a huge amount of people dont even have the car yet.. What Rlaarlo? Their logistics department have crippled themselves and this was all down to the intense hype/promises of this chassis. Parts are there and in stock but not being shipped and neither are the rollers/Ready to runs. Shame as I have supported them since they started but I do feel let down this time. No amount of metal bling will change my mind unfortunately. Hopefully you smash that 110mph you want to achieve but judging by other vids and what people are saying its not as easy to achieve as we were all lead to believe. Good luck with it mate!

I had a similar problem with my tt02 car. Steering would not re center. I found that the servo arm (the stock servo saver) is quite long which gives a lot of swing with very little servo travel causing me to have my endpoints around 50 percent until the steering reached full lock. I removed the stock arm and swapped it for one about half as long. This acts as a force multiplier and gives the servo increased leverage against the steering rack effectively makng more torque. Now with the shorter arm, I needed more travel at the servo to lock out the steering. So my endpoints are now around 75%. The steering now recenters perfect without any other modifications. Something to try perhaps. Also, use about 50% expo on the steering channel so you can make tiny adjustments at high speed without twitching the car out. Cheers. Car looks great. I hope all that blingy aluminum doesn't bend into a pretzel in a crash though.

Your brave war exactly the opposite of mine. On yours, it's like they used red Loctite, whereas mine didn't have any Loctite. Regarding upgrade parts, is highly recommend NOT using the aluminum lower arms (front, or rear)...stick with the stock plastic part arms. The aluminum Rlaarlo is using is only 6061, not 7075. As for the other aluminum upgrades, go for it...but, at the same time, you're going to want to get the aluminum lower bulkheads for the front (should use them front & rear, not just rear). Something I'm trying to come up with is an alternate way for mounting the battery. The stock mount limits the dimensions too much, and using the straps through the chassis is NOT good (they will, sooner or later, fray when dragging on the ground). Other than that, good job. Maybe a quality servo should be the next upgrade. 🤙🏼

The same thing happens to me with the servo. I put low profile servo is more precise, the standard servo is more for bashing around. Low-profile servos have more precision, but you need to check the steering more adjustments to check how much play has that way you can make the play even for both sides. Believe me, the AK 917 has play on the steering

Put a AGFRC programmable servo in it Gav, You can then true it up via a computer.

You need a nice big car park to run it in, that road is just to narrow.

like the bling been waiting over two weeks for mine to arrive so far I've seen this car crash more times than a speed run begining to think this car is more hype than it has speed

The bling does certainly look pretty. I only run plastic lower arms etc due to absorbing impacts better . Cheaper to replace than alloy bits plus alloy just transfers stress elsewhere into chassis etc . Is that gear mesh ok Gavin ? Sounded really odd like it was too tight or rubbing?

I hate that when servos dont center when you let go of steering.did you replace with a better quality metal servo?

I'm doing the exact same upgrades you did , only I haven't gotten them from Rlarrlo yet. I have gotten my foam tires for it, as well as a really nice quality servo along with a better reciever for range and a gyro so I can keep it straight. I got the bigger 6s motor that they offer as well and am planning on running it with a Hobbywing Max 6. Going to have to make alot of adjustments to get it straight as an arrow before I even think of putting in a 6s battery. It's going to be a slow methodical process for sure. But thats half the fun. Love watching your videos and always look forward to them when a new one comes out. Keep up the great work Gavin. 👍

Did you use loctite on the front steering HUBS?

the road might not be flat the country lanes usually dip at the sides only a bit but your car will follow the dip

Gav, I'd say that's not necessarily the servo, but geometry. With the right caster and camber the steering should be self centring as it is in a real car to some extent.

Do you checked the steering moves freely? You should put in a better servo and maybe a gyro. Keep it up

I apologize for so many comments😂this is my last one. And u probably wont read any of them anyways.😂 But thats just how I do it. When i get to a part of a video where i want to make a comment I pause it say what im going to say them continue with the video. Thats so i can remember instead of waiting until the end. And also the first thing i do when i start to watch any video is hit the like button for 2 reasons 1 thats so i will see right away that ive watched that video already and 2 its only right! If yall take the time to make a video and do everything thats involved with that. Rather if i liked what the video was about or not. I still hit the like button. And as far as the power switch goes just take the switch out and solder those two wires together then it will turn off and on when pluging the battery up. Which is alot better for the car and battery. Because then u don't forget to unplug the battery when ur done running it. Like we all do from time to time😂

I thought that car came with a gyro already installed on it? if not that's all you need is a cheap gyro it doesn't need to be anything expensive if she's going to pull the wheels back true and also correct itself if it starts to spin out as long as you don't set it to high. Then it will overcorrect too fast and u will wreck on the opposite side u thought u was going to wreck on😂😂

Turn down the steering. I need a two lane road to be able to turn the RC around. Find a better road that’s at least two lanes with no curbs. Good luck brother
