32:22 3 gets a lot of hate but one thing I loved about it is how great Neve and Scott did with the fight between their characters. It really felt like they were siblings and it was just really well done by them.
@Mariah Galle. I love that Roman was Sidney’s brother, and their fight was well done as well. Fun Fact: Neve accidentally stabbed Scott for real in the scene where Sidney stabs Roman while Roman has his back to the furniture and trying to call Sidney, while Sidney is hiding and jumps out. The shout Scott makes was 100% real. Also that’s not the first time someone has stabbed someone for real by accident in the Scream franchise, in the original Scream Matthew accidentally stabbed Skeet for real during the scene where Stu and Billy are stabbing each other. Matthew accidentally stabs Skeet for real near where Skeet had surgery before, and Skeet yells out Stu, that was 100% a real reaction from Skeet.
@@nu-metalfan2654 thats insane to me, and I think Zack said something about this during the podcast for 3 that the fall of Milton on the floor after Roman cuts his throat was real and Scott was so into it that he like flung him HARD and he got hurt
I wish we’d all understand that Billy Loomis returning is only a symptom of Sam’s psychosis & not a supernatural force or psychic vision. For me, it makes more sense and is more believable within the universe the writers have created. It’s like Sydney’s nightmare from Scream 3, a trait of PTSD.
@@maca76I feel like that just wouldn't fit in the Scream universe though, the whole franchise is based on realism and set in our own world, we're supposed to see ourselves in the characters and their situations, having supernatural aspects would just make it less relatable for the audience
@@enigma8543 i dont want it to be supernatural, i would like it for the killer to claim supernatural influences, like when the killer was going to claim the movies made him do it abusing that people really thought that was enough. I dont see enough movies with that plot right now to be relevant, but many serial killers have claimed mental illness or supernatural influence as a defense, so maybe some day (?)
Tatum Riley has and will always be my favorite character in the franchise! She was such a good best friend to Sidney and had a really charming and memorable personality on her own. Even had some fight in her too. Totally agree that she should have made it into a sequel or lived longer. Her death truly ruined me, I was also obsessed with Rose McGowan at the time haha
Parker Posey’s character is what made (for me) continue watching Scream 3. Her interactions/fights with Gale on who’s the real Gale Weathers etc was hilarious.
While I think Mickey is pretty underwritten, I have to totally give it up to Olyphant for chewing the scenery like a madman for ten minutes before he departs.
I'm happy Micky was at "It's an Honor" Timothy Olyphant made a great killer, his acting was top notch. They don't make killers like him and Matthew Lillards Stu anymore.
I hope Sam wins more people over in Scream VI. People criticize Melissa Barrera’s performance in Scream 5 but I really feel like she did her best with the script she was given. I always liked the idea of Sam’s inner turmoil of nature vs nurture because of her being Billy’s daughter and I like that she’s a mentally ill character that’s heroic rather than the killer
Sam was better in a second viewing but the hallucinations really didn't help the character especially since Sid's dead mom ghost was so poorly recieved in Scream 3.
Being Billy's daughter and she never knew him lol yet she feels she's just like him. Must make people wonder how f...ed up she really was before blaming Billy for her actions.
@@ZackCherry no shame in that, I think we’re definitely getting a very Ghostface centered sixth installment but we’ll see 😱 excited for your review on that!
@@ZackCherry Sorry, but Lois and Murphy are way more expendable than Kate. The fact that Jill is willing to off her own mother is what exposes the depth of how far she is willing to go. To put two comic relief sorority sisters ahead of that seems a bit off to me.
I felt like Amber's bad blood with Sam was to make the audience suspicious of Sam. Kinda like in Scream 4, Judy's bad blood with Gale and weird random interaction with Sydney made her seem suuuper suspicious.
I really liked Liv, she had a lot of potential. She was the outsider of the group and none of them, even her boyfriend, like her that much- all accusing her of being the killer at least once except for Wes who dies before he could. She could have been this weird combination of Tatum and Randy- Tatum in behaviour and Randy in her dynamics- and Sonia Ammar did a great job with what she had to work with and you can tell she loves the franchise. The script really did her dirty in the third act and if she had more screen time and cut the "Are you afraid of me Mindy?" scene she could have been great.
I agree. No idea how she could be the worst character when you include the cops, Neil, nothing boyfriend in 4, and so many others. It was fun seeing “the horny one” get so frustrated at being accused
I will never understand you Liv fans. Everything you just said about her being an outsider is Sam’s whole plotline. Liv only feels like an outsider because she is irrelevant to the friend group and what’s going on. It’s also crazy to see her called a combination of Tatum and Randy, two of the most charismatic and interesting characters in the franchise. Those two characters are everything Liv could never be. She takes up screen time, is poorly defined, and I do agree with Zack that the character hurts Scream 5
@@benjihudson2768 I am not a Liv fan personally, I just disagree she’s the worst character especially when you consider all the cop characters, Billy’s dad, and other people who have even less impact on their movies than she did
I love Mickey so much, he's my fav Ghostface too. He's severely underrated in fandom solely cause of his limited screentime, so I appreciate how high up he is here.
I’m personally so excited to see how mindy and Kirby act together since they were both comic relief characters in their movies and seeing them interact would be GOLD even though Kirby in the sixth one looks more serious
As always, I appreciate your love for Mickey! Billy is my favorite Ghostface, followed by Stu, but Mickey rounds out the top 3 for me. I think he’s one of the scariest ones because his motive is that he basically just wanted to kill people. His tuition being paid off and the fame he thought he’d get were icing on the cake, but dude was just a true sociopath in the worst way. I also love the scene in the precinct where he manages to subtly get in Sidney’s head and plant that doubt about Derrick in her mind. He was smart and aggressive, and I like that about him.
I have to agree with you on the ranking of Gale. She has always been my fave. Seeing her arch throughout the entire series has been so great. To see her go from a cheesy tabloid journalist with a heart of stone to someone we all love and want to see survive while having a HUGE heart of gold...her arch in 2 is the best tho.
Same I’m obsessed with Gale she’s so special to the franchise she went from being Unlikeable to a fan fav, courteney does such a good job bringing Gale to life and how she’s evolved each movie
I really didn’t care for Amber either the first time around but after I rewatched it she quickly because my favorite Ghostface and second favorite character in the franchise overall. I don’t get why people are triggered by her weak motive when it’s not any weaker than Stu, Mickey or Charlie’s and Billy was just as obvious as the killer, if not more. 🥴
Her motive was fine, hee performance was horrible, just watch that final act the way she talks its bad. Im suppose to be scared of this chick getting angry who weighs as much as my left thigh? Atleast jill had personality. Amber and charlie tied fof worst
@@rko691, personal preferences, I guess. I loved her performance at the end, It’s what won me over. The way she acted wasn’t much different from the way Stu acted at the end of the first movie. He was very goofy and hyper but everyone praises him for it.
Amber being so low is literally criminal. She is one of the most iconic and brutal ghost faces and u putting Richie the predator over her is so weird to me
I love it. It's like she's so downbeat and miserable the entire film cause she's struggling to keep her crazy in but in the end she can finally let go and be her true self.
Ik you mentioned you didn't like the motive in 5 but to me in today's world its a perfect motive that's so believable with how crazy fans of pretty much anything are today
I think Scream 5 would've been a lot better if they swapped Vince and liv in terms of when they get killed... If Liv died first it would've felt a bit more high stakes because one of the friend group died and then Vince could have been the red herring character they tried to do with Liv and then he gets killed at the start of the 3rd act to reveal the first killer
Chad is my favorite character from the new characters and I agree with where you put him, if given the development he needs in S6 (which seems to be the case) then he's gonna be a top tier character
I wish I could get into Randy the way most are. I always find humor in your disdain for Amber and your idea of her being Vince’s ex is perfect and goes in my head cannon of her being Chad’s girlfriend taking Liv completely out and making more room for others to be expanded
I knew right away that Mrs. Loomis was one of the killers. She just kept randomly popping into the scenes which is why she was so obviously a Ghostface! Of course we all didn’t know what her motive was, or who she really was until the end.
Watched it last night. One of the best scream films to date until the final 20 minutes where it completely and utterly falls apart and the people ghostface killed makes zero sense.
I love Amber, but your opinion doesn't trigger me. Mainly because nobody else's opinion has any effect on me. Lol Having said that, I actually thought you'd put her in "Why are you even here?" So you were a lot nicer to Amber than expected.

So can someone explain to me why Himbry is supposed to be a non ghostface antagonist? If we define antagonist as someone opposed to the protagonist, then he’s never that since Sydney is the protagonist and (other than the too familiar touch which is never explained) he is only shown in support of her. If we consider ghostface to be the protagonist, since he’s the slasher villain and it’s a slasher movie, Himbry never goes after him, schemes against him, nor confronts him, masked or unmasked. Hell, the only people Himbry could be an adversary to are the two expelled students, and would anyone call them the protagonists? If Himbry was called a red herring, due to his casual scissors intimidation and playing with the mask, that would make sense to me, but antagonist doesn’t seem to apply unless I’m missing something.
@@ShavayD Her looks are completely irrelevant (bit of a douche comment) Her acting is poor though. Thats why she would be far lower for me. But her looks shouldnt matter, i think shes pretty actually
@@mattieollie157 it's a horror movie. The final girl is supposed to be at least semi beautiful. There's been little to no ugly final girls in horror history
youre right it should have been jennifer at the end with the popcorn, sling and movie. just the image makes me laugh, but she would have closed that door 100%
I’m so happy that Randy Meeks was there in spirit through his niece, nephew, and younger sister. Randy in scream 1 and 2 is by far my favorite character in the franchise. Favorite killer has gotta be Billy
Joel was literally the only character in the entire franchise that did everything right in terms of survival. And technically as a black character in a slasher, with white folks getting killed around him that were actual targets of said killer. By all rights the smartest thing to do for himself was to get the f**k out of dodge. Especially with Gail’s approach to try and find the killer. JOEL DID EVERYTHING RIGHT! 😎
I think you misinterpreted what the writers were doing with Amber's character. She didn't actually dislike Sam, she just needed to seem like she cared about Tara AND needed to cast the blame on Sam. If she primes everyone by continuing to throw out that Sam doesn't really care about Tara, she's setting up the "plot" to the newest Stab film she and Richie have created. The daughter of Billy Loomis comes back to finish what her father started. She never actually disliked Sam. I don't think she ever cared about Sam. She just needed to control the narrative.
70 characters!? Jesus Zack you're ambitious! I am about to dive in but probably will finish tomorrow. I'm amazed that you took this on! (And Mason should absolutely be your boyfriend, I'm here for it!) And yet I stayed for the full minutes! You sweet man, you got me hook line and sinker! If you ever come to NYC, come have a drink with me and my husband, we are horror fanatics and especially Scream. It's the only franchise I've seen every one in theaters. Fascinating that us gay guys love the character of Gale, but other people don't. This is why I love your channel!
I've made a top20 characters some time ago and that's still accurate so my ranking would be: 1. Gale 2. Dewey 3. Sidney (but I still have doubt between 2nd and 3rd place actually) 4. Randy 5. Billy 6. Stu 7. Sam 8. Kirby 9. Tara 10. Tatum 11. Cotton 12. Jennifer 13. Jill 14. Mindy 15. Robbie 16. Casey 17. Wes 18. Chad 19. Hallie 20. Mrs. Loomis With Mickey as honorable mention
Mickey has grown into my second favorite villain of the franchise (Jill is tops). Best motive and I love the line "It's a classic case of life imitating art imitating life."
I can give or take Amber as a GF , but I think the reason they don't touch on her dislike of Sam after the reveal is that she's playing it up to seem like she's protecting Tara. She actually seems like she doesn't care about anyone or anything outside of Richie and the Stab movies.
Omg when I realized how much you love this franchise, I'd be watching your videos thinking to myself "why isn't he my boyfriend" 🤣🤣 . The irony! This guy is so genuine and honestly, why aren't you my boyfriend???
The principal from Scream 1 was killed off because it would serve as a distraction for when everything went on. The police aren’t gonna be worried about Sidney and them when they’re busy dealing with a body already. Not to mention it was as a way to get rid of the extra partygoers for the final act with Sidney, Randy, Billy, and Stu.
I know it’s not really fair to think these characters are so derivative but … we all see the similarities and have kind’ve come to depend on these archetypes when it comes to this franchise.
Amber reads as the guilty suspect who does everything they can in order to try to get an insanity plea but it’s so readable that all they know about insanity is from the movies who doesn’t realize that being a sane person in a mental institution is soooo much worse than going to prison.
While I don't agree with all the choices, very well done, you! I'd rank Jenna Ortega higher, but Gale and Sydney (sp for both?) deserve the top two slots - I'm a bigger fan of Neve Campbell, but Cox always brings it here, and made me almost forget that I didn't like her Friends character.
