I so enjoyed watching this and smiling the whole time. I was privileged to be shadowing Andy Ackerman as a director on several episodes. I got to hang out in the stands with Alec and Jeff and Spike and David while network notes were happening. They were all so fun and funny. And Jerry was bringing a different one of his 26 porches to the lot each week (or day? I can't recall). Anyway, thanks guys, sorry to have lost touch over the years.

@sebastiandingleswitch3757
@sebastiandingleswitch3757 Год назад
It was okay, but time hasn't been terribly kind to it. Anyone who needs/appreciates a laugh track in 2023 is a simpleton. Times change and it's a classic, but it isn't the greatest ever, nor is it underappreciated. Curb is on what... 11 seasons? I forget, and same style, funnier, better characters, just more modern overall. Different strokes but i can't remember the last time i felt like intentionally rewatching any episode of Seinfeld.
@sledzeppelin
@sledzeppelin Год назад
@@sebastiandingleswitch3757 Conversely, anyone who can't get past a laugh track and realize how completely brilliant Seinfeld was for its time and within its medium, might be a simpleton. And it still holds up wonderfully. People quote it or reference its plots all the time because they're so timeless and still relatable. Is the Mona Lisa only meh because it's not 3D rendered in 8K? Screw Duke Ellington - his stuff is so dated and it's not even digitally recorded. Rubbish! The more recent show feels more modern, eh? What insight! Have you considered a career in TV criticism? Curb is not at all the same style as Seinfeld. In fact, it's the opposite style. Seinfeld is a "multi-camera" sitcom. Curb is a "single camera". You're basically saying a stage play and a film are the same thing.

And here we are watching a video about the real kramer, where the actors and writers explain why kramer couldnt be the real kramer in a show where kramer did the real peterman experience based on kramer doing the peterman book where the real peterman didnt write the peterman book, while the real kramer is in a bus when he was doing the real kramer experience. Its like the 7th wall we didnt know existed was broken.

This was such a special show. There hasn't been a sitcom before or since that was able to consistently knock it out of the park every single episode the way Seinfeld did. The way the show went out while it was at its ratings peak makes it just that much better. There was no long slow decline or getting pushed aside by something better that came along. It became the best sitcom in its first season, stayed on top year after year and was the best it had ever been when they called it quits. If I recall correctly NBC was so desperate to hang on to the show that they were offering the cast something like $5 million an episode to keep going. Hard to imagine turning that offer down but they did and that just makes the show even cooler in my view. Jerry, George, Elaine, Kramer, Newman, Mr. Peterman and all the rest- Thanks for all the laughs.

The Marble Rye story is actually a true story that happened in my family. My Aunt became engaged to someone called "Lenny the Goon" (that is what my family called him. His parents were on the wealthy side. This being the early forties my grandparents were still recovering from the depression and did not have so much money, When their daughter became engaged to Lenny, the parents of the bride-to-be were invited to dinner at the groom-to-be's parents' home. They thought it would be nice to bring marbled rye with them as a welcoming gesture. The host failed to [ut the marbled rye out on the dinner table which not only offended my grandparents but also they were looking forward to having some of this prized delicious delicacy. Well, a fight ensued during dinner over other issues and my grandparents got up to leave. Someone went into the kitchen and spied to the prize atop the refrigerator and they took it and left. It did not fly out of the window, although that is quite funny. My cousin Neil was a writer for many television shows and I am sure he told it other writers which is how the story came to the producers of the Seinfeld show. We have laughed at this story since the 1940s in my family.

If your about to get married and you need to ask yourself, "should this person have my card #", you should not be getting married. Marriage means you become ONE entity. Not two separate people with a "agreement". If you dont want that then do not get married, your doing it for the wrong reasons. Having said that, I love this show.
