Maybe it is an icelandic name I wouldn't know, but I do know that it's also a Swedish name. Gunnarsson is a pretty common surname here in Sweden and Gunnar is a pretty common first name here as well. Helgasund sounds like the name of a swedish town but I have never heard of the place if it even exists.

The best Scandinavian crime drama I've seen in a long while. Didn't know who the killer was till the very last seconds. Brilliant mystery, complicated characters, breathtaking Scandinavian landscapes. 10/10

2 things. 1. You don't know. It's entirely possible that Gunnar Gunnarson is just off his job at the precinct and on his way to or from the bar. This video doesn't go into details. 2. This is Helgasund. They only get the police officer on loan from Bjarnesborg every first and third *thorsday* of the month.
That is actually quite accurate. Scandinavian fathers are not close with their sons because when son is born, he is left in the wilderness to be raised by polar bears.

As a non-swede, I see several advantages to such a lack of nomial diversity: • You won't forget peoples names, • You can buy a tag with your name in every shop, • You will have no hard time to name your sons and so on.
I'm scandinavian and i can confirm, this is exactly how it is in scandinavia. Except the seven people part, there aren't actually that many, since Gunnar Gunnarsonson was killed.

As a Finn I feel the same and I don't even watch dramas that often, but I do know that there are quite many Finnish crime novels that have a similar plot.

(They are probably going through a divorce as a side plot.) 3: A young cyber cop. 4: The detective's neighbor. So there was no caller. It was a fake call. All deduction.
You forgot the pariah who lives alone in the mountain after the death of his wife and infant son: who's always being painted as cold and creepy at first; who saves the protagonist from the killer who turns out to be the killer of his wife and son.

I've watched like ten minutes of one Scandinavian crime drama, in 1-2 minute bursts because I was just in the room at the time, and literally all of these things happened.
This may be one of my favourite videos on RU-vid ever. I’m blown away at how you managed to cram Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish and Faroese accents in such a short clip. I don’t think I’ve heard anything quite like this before (I say this as a native Scandinavian who’s studied the Nordic languages at university). I’m beyond impressed.
Yeah, like I say, I studied Nordic languages at uni! [Edit for clarity: The definition of “Nordic languages for that subject was “The main languages spoken in the Nordic region”. I should have mentioned that initially, my mistake!] Sorry, should have worded that part better, haha. I just mentioned Finnish because I enjoy it and I thought I heard a hint of a Finnish accent in there as well 😄 I’m definitely not an expert on Finnish, though! I always did wish we’d been taught more about it.
