We would climb Balsam and then enter the parkway above Waynesville. That was our courting place. Yes, we courted up there before the tourists came. Courting was the way it was done in our time. We had to know if we could do a lifetime together. We did 60 years. The courting worked. Good grief, how I have missed her. tI was like part of me was torn away when she passed, and I had to lay her to her rest up high in the Smokies. I missed her. I missed her terribly. She was my life.
