Barbra sings each note without playing with it so much, as Celine does. I prefer crystal clear solitary notes and being able to hold them without wavering, as Barbra does. That being said, when Celine sings the songs that made her a household name, she’s wonderful. ( I own many of her albums) The truth is they’re both great singers it’s just a matter of what sounds better to each person. I love Barbra’s voice more, but that’s just me. My grandmother used to call Barbra “the screamer” and I would just cringe! Beauty of that is it affirms the sentiment “to each his own” Happy listening! 😊
on which song here do you think celine hesitates on the notes ??? ??? without hesitation ?? on this video can you show me the precise moment thank you ^^ (at minute second)
Me too. I'm a super fan of Celine but she was still very young in these video clips and she didn't have the proper training she had during the 90's when her voice really blossomed.
I have to say that, her 2016 rasp aside, the Vegas performances were probably my favorite. I wish she would’ve sung the songs with a well rested voice and without all the tragedy in her life at the time.
No one can be compared with Streisand's voice. She tries to find the meaning of each note, of each word she sings. Not only the vocal performance. That's the reason why Dion will never sing like Streisand : Dion is a fabulous performer but Streisand is a wonderful artist. She is the the quintessence of the vocal art.
Possibly unpopular opinion, but her early incognito era barbra covers were not good imo. They were oversung and she strained a lot. Just not what a barbra song should sound like. However that 1997 I finally found someone was great
Probably so many years of vocal training, you do have a point though. Her power is much more raw and the way she ends notes is not as polished, also her timing and pitch on sone notes isn’t quite perfect. Still a great vocalist that has aged so very well, she takes such good care of her instrument.
@@jak30341 I perfectly would have loved to have her do a barbra song in 1992. Would’ve been the perfect year with her more polished yet still powerful and chest dominant belts. Her melisma also became more tasteful as her musicality evolved.
She is not a screamer. And second, listen to her clip of "People" and "Papa Can You Hear Me" in this clip -- crystal clear and precise. If she had covered these as a mature singer, esp. in her heyday, then we could have a conversation.
