Yess I noticed that I was about to comment that and I wondered to because Abby always had a thing about reused costumes or costumes that people have seen the person in
I think that’s because in one of her tap solos Abby said that it takes her a year to learn a tap routine because there are so many steps so they didn’t really have the time to teach her tap solos because they usually learned a solo like Monday and competed with it on like friday
Yes. Not like other dancing Styles, tap is harder and much complicated than the others. It is your dancing as will as your face and your fast yet steady on rhythm feet
Sunshine and Lollipops and I like to fuss went back and forth so many times for the higher placement, haha! Chloé and Maddie were both so talented and hardworking, I love watching them both 😄 The dedication here is amazing, thank you for this!
I wonder if this is the solo Christi claims Melissa sabotaged. She said in Back to the Barre after party that Melissa messed up Chloe’s music when Chloe and Maddie kept going back and forth for the win pre-show.
@@goeticfolklore This is also the solo era where Melissa took Chloe’s private lessons spot away. Maddie got to continue improving in tap and Chloe stopped improving in ballet. That’s why Maddie started to get 2 solos in 2010.
Thats amazing of them but somehow it also makes me mad, Abby was always very harsh on McKenzie because "Maddie always won at your age" but Maddie didn´t do a new dance each week, the pressure was way higher for McKenzie from a younger age to "be as great as her sister" whilst the playing field wasn´ t the same.
I hadn’t thought about that but YES!!! I also hated how she overlooked Kenzie’s ability to dance with much older girls and blend so beautifully that she actually became a standout in that group
The motivation and effort to find the competitions, find the result and approximate points and even purchasing some of the dances You never fail to amaze me
This era of dance competitions looks so fun! Performing at an less professional dance competition in 2010 and learning more tap and jazz at just a small studio and performing at an less more known competition looks so amazing
well this was before every kid was homeschooled so they could do two hours of flexibility training a day and compete against all the other kids doing the same. I think their dancing i more human than the kids you see today
Interesting that Maddie seemed to do pretty well with tap, and Chloe pretty well with musical theatre! Although it's so weird how their placing in general (not placing to 1st / 2nd/ 3rd) & placing relative to each other.
6:53 The fact that Maddie took 3rd and 2nd and Chloe took 1st is absolutely incredible, especially for their ages! 6:47 I feel like Chloe’s contemporary solo was really good here though so!
@@Amber.28. there was also two times in this video when Maddie got second, and then first, and then Chloe won the title of their division. On the show, they made it look like Chloe could never beat Maddie for a title but she did here twice. They were always right on top of each other. They wouldn’t show Chloe’s wins or the times she beat Maddie and that’s so wrong.
@@jessicajoerndt428 girl no she won a title cause she was entered for one maddie wasn't entered so chloe didn't beat her are you stupid? Chloe only ever beat her for one title and that was 2012 nationals on show
I love Ma He’s Making Eyes At Me so much!!! Chloe’s characterization was precious and so funny!! I always thought 20’s Scat deserved better than 9th place. I love the softer elements for Nia since she didn’t usually get them
@@dabisbestie seeing that Chloe was the one placing right next to Maddi or beating her, I would say that Chloe was Maddie’s biggest competition not page. And I think that Chloe was also Maddi’s biggest competition because Chloe beat her multiple times.
@@Dancemoms208 Maddie’s technique was bad when she was little, Abby said this on the show. She said that Maddie needed extra practice and therefore, Maddie was signed up for a bunch of private lessons and left school early. This was all confirmed by every single mom from season one plus Abby and McKenzie also said the same thing. So no, you’re wrong.
They were so talented even at a young age!! I wonder why Abby got mad at them for getting second place in dance moms, even Maddie sometimes never places
@@Amber.28. yes, you have to actually read the subtitles of the video. They only competed together about six times before the show. And, Maddie had the same top solo every time which gave her an advantage. In 2010, Chloe beat Maddie for two titles. Maddi got first place in the division but Chloe won the title. It says it in the video. Same age division When they started to get older in 2011, as you can see, Chloe beat Maddie two times right before the show in the same age division …. She also beat Maddie a couple of times, including a title when during the show, but they didn’t show it, of course.
@@jessicajoerndt428 girl no they showed the two times chloe beat maddie o show and chloe didn't beat maddie for any titles before the show can you read or are you plain stupid no actually I know you are they competed over 10 times before the show and chloe beat maddie twice and if you're gonna count chloe beating maddie as two wins in 2012 then you also have to count maddie beating chloe twice at the same competition
Being a competitive dancer dancer in Pittsburgh, it is so weird seeing other studios local and famous to the area on the guides competing against the aldc. So many of these competitions are very familiar to me
That's usually how dance competitions work. Abby has said that the fact they had to do new routines every week for the show has such a huge mistake... That's also why we didn't see Maddie doing more tap for example, tap routines take a lot of time to learn because they have soo many steps.
thats how normal competitive dancers dance. you learn a dance during the year and you get months to work on it and perfect it. you then attend a few competitions, my studio always did 3 comps a year, but the aldc clearly did more.
4:44 This section of Maddie's Over The Rainbow Solo has the exact same moves as a section of Maddie's Cry Solo and what I think is the same costume. They probably used the same dance (with a few changes) but just changed the music on the show for copyright reasons.
Paige being Maddie's 2nd runner up right after Chloe🙁 if Abby would have given Paige the time of day she would have been in the top three with Maddie and Chloe for more competitions
The only reason she got to do that though is because Melissa worked at the front desk and got Maddie an extra private lesson or two so that she could learn her tap solo. Christi and Kelley just said on their podcast that when they tried to get their kids extra privates to have extra solos, Melissa and Abby denied them. This is exactly why Maddie won more because she had extra practice on tap and Chloe was constantly changing genres of dance. Maddie mostly had tap and then switched to lyrical right before the show. It was never set up to showcase Chloe in a specialty that would help her win more often. So the fact that she still did beat Maddie for multiple titles is amazing and we can see the huge growth in Chloe in 2011 with her Ma he’s making eyes at me solo, that’s when she really started to beat Maddie a couple of times right before the show. But the show took the favoritism and ran with it which is sad because it ended up hurting Chloe and even Maddi in the end.
Can u stop bringing maddie the whole time down?Chloe was the whole time 1 year older.Plus maddie won 1st and 2nd,and a technice award while chloe 3rd .I wasnt staged cause dance moms didnt exsist back them.Chloe beated maddie but chloe started dancing at a younger age was also longer at abbys and older .And maddie won with non winning solos like tqp@@jessicajoerndt428
When it came to the ballet solos that Chloe did, because the studio didn’t really focus that much on the proper placement with the arms, that probably why Chloe although she was so talented at ballet….she didn’t always place that well with a ballet solo. Honestly, if that Joffrey Ballet audition was truly real and the judges truly meant what they said to Chloe…..she really could’ve been a beautiful professional ballerina, she could’ve been in the New York City Ballet or in another ballet school, actually ballet school might’ve been better for her than the ALDC. When the show first aired, and I saw Chloe…..i immediately assumed that she was a true ballerina because of her poise and grace when it came to dance, and usually ballerinas are very poised and grateful. Had Abby, and the rest of the studios teachers in general….tried to truly focus on the arms when it came to ballet, Chloe would’ve excelled phenomenally. Ballet tends to be very strict on the placement on the arms, it has to be done a certain way and look a certain way.
I think the reason why the video we have of Maddie doing her first dance she’s wearing black is cause it was her recital and it was dress rehearsal I think so she was probably wearing that cause she was in a rush
did anyone else notice that in the early seasons Christi always got mad whenever maddie had two solos at comps but Melissa wasn’t lying when she said maddie use to do two solos at competitions cuz if you notice especially in 2010-2012 she did two a lot
Christi actually got mad cuz Maddie did cry a few weeks before with the audio swaped to what they used on dance moms (it was an old dance she did with different music ) and the tap one she knew and just did it without the music (old dance with music) and Chloe and the other kids got whole new chorography and music. Christi even asked if Chloe can additionaly do a solo she knew, but they say no. She confirmed it on a video or on a episode of back to the Barre.
Yup and baby mine they got to use other music in season 1, same with acapella, double take etc thats why paige forgot because of new music, i recommend watching dance moms uncovered and the ep why they forgot solos
the same costume chloe is wearing in "Ma, He's Making Eyes at Me", she's definitely wore again - not sure when. Same with Maddies "USO Show" costume being used again.
U guys gotta understand that before dance moms they would be practicing one solo the whole year and then take it to nationals so ofc the solos are gonna be repetitive
‘somewhere over the rainbow’ and ‘he’s making eyes at me’ are maddie and chloe’s solos ‘cry’ and ‘baby mine’ they both performed the routines just set to different music due to copyright. They both knew their routines prior to show airing.
@@natt7199 Yup and Paige's solo that she forgot was set to a Lady Gaga song called Boys Boys Boys originally and Nia's first season 1 solo was originally set to a Shakira song.
@@LoomerE actually both girls competed at the same onstage New York competition in Pittsburgh, that’s the one that Chloe got first place with. It’s on both of their wikis.
@@LoomerE Can you point me in the direction of that archive? I’ve already seen all the program books and it’s not in there so I was looking at the wiki.
@@rileyywhited I never even knew that! I honestly really love that outfit some might not think it's age appropriate or whatever these people are saying but me personally I think it's cute
Maddie solo over the rainbow the costume was used in cry solo Maddie did and Chloe solo in dance moms costume was used too and the choreographing in Maddie solo with the same Chloe did not use Maddie‘s costume. If you didn’t get it she use a different one.
Well the thing is the Cry solo that maddie did was originally Over the Rainbow, but the song had to be changed for copyright reasons. Same goes for Chloe’s 2011 solo
Chloe look so cute in I like to fuss She warms my heart her and Maddie when I watch all of them dance But I gotta say sum BABY MINE FITS WAY BETTER THAN MA HE MAKING EYES AT ME I'm sorry but the music is so cute I luv this video!!
It’s so funny how far we did the same like two solos the whole time and Maddie did like a bunch more different ones. We had to keep competing with it exact same one.
2:07 I’m confused why Chloe was competing in the age 9-10 category when she was 8 at the time of the competition. Was she entered in the wrong age category? 7:45 Same thing for this competition. Why would Chloe and Nia be in different age categories when they are only a month apart in age?
Sorry to ask but for "Dream on a star" in 2013 how do you know she got a titanium the aldc concert books dont mention the adjudications but we know she didnt get a perfect score since its also not listed
Chloe ended up performing "What About Mother" instead of "Dream On A Star". A web archive of the results on the competition's website lists the adjudications to those who have placed. The adjudication scoring is also on the website under its competition rules I believe.
@@LoomerE ah makes sense cause so many people use this as "proof" that chloe got a perfect score when there's proof she didn't does it say their exact scores?
@@A.C205 Yes it does and Christi told us on her channel that Chloe got a perfect score for Dream on a star. Grow up little child. Chloe is an amazing dancer and that’s never gonna change. are we just gonna ignore how the only solos chloe preformed against maddie most of the time was ma he's making eyes at me and i like to fuss? over and over again? oh how many times christi talked with abby, jesus christ
Some competitions make it so that you can only place with one solo. Otherwise one dancer could do a clean sweep of the top 3/top 5 (if they competed enough solos)
@@DanceMomsMadyep! Completely right. Once a girl at my studio had 3 solos (a ballet, a tap , and a lyrical). The competition only allowed one solo to place, so although all three solos got a score of 290+, only the lyrical solo won. If the rule wasn’t in place, it would’ve been a clean sweep with her 3 solos
Adjudications are awards based on scores at some comps like Onstage new york for 288-289 points it means high gold and 290-300 is platinum its different at different competitions though
@@lexibeaumont9589 Chloe didn't do two solos at competitions though, as seen here. It was a normal ALDC competition that was also filmed for dance moms. Everyone did the amount of solos they would do at a normal ALDC competition, because it was one.
@@user-ml9bu9tp2j it’s possible it was a complaint she had in the past though. we don’t rlly know any arguments or disagreements they had in the past. they mentioned that they had always been rivals and going head to head. so i personally think it’s possible that christy hadn’t liked maddie doing two solos all along
@@user-ml9bu9tp2j bc even if maddie had always done two, there’s always gonna be an unfair advantage. it happens 24/7 in the dance world which is why comps have now placed rules. only 1 of ur solos can make top 10, only 1 solo can place for title, etc.
@@user-ml9bu9tp2j there was several competitions on the show where Chloe competed two solos. Before the show it was entirely the kids/moms choice how many solos they competed. In Ma hes making eyes at me you can tell thata Chloes Baby Mine solo same with Maddie's USO solo the music was changed on the show for copyright I think
Its kinda weird to see Maddie not place with certain dances, because she almost always won on the show............It goes to show that Maddie was also a beginner and didn't win all the time at some point too. Nobody's perfect and that's okay 🙂
@@misspanda7231actually maddie only didn't place at 2 of these comps at the other 2 the competition only allows one solo to place so even though maddie got a really high score she couldn't have placed with both
Incorrect actually for example at Applause Talent chloe didn't beat the solo that didn't place its just that only one solo per dancer xan place in the top whatever
Also, Maddie mostly won with tap. Chloe was the more versatile dancer and she also 2 titles in this video over Maddie. Maddie won with the same to tap solos, whereas Chloe’s solos changed three times in this video within two different genres. So the situation’s for them were totally different, Maddie had a standing tap private for years, and she was a specialist in that. They weren’t that far apart and right before the show in 2011, they were going back-and-forth. They each beat other two times right before the show
@@jessicajoerndt428 girl literally everything you said is false, chloe never beat out maddie for a title before the show, maddie beat chloe 10 times before the show chloe beat maddie 2 times maddie beat chloe with 5 different solos 2 tap,2 lyrical, and one jazz, chloe also got lots of musical theatre and ballet privates so the standing tap privates mean nothing and finally they really weren't close before the show maddie was absolutely demolishing her competition
@@jessicajoerndt428BYE. Yk damn well chloe was NOT more versatile than maddie 💀 girlie couldn’t even do gymnastics OR acro OR tap. so pls figure out ur facts!! your jsut a chloe stan.
Probably because they got banned from some competitions due to the producers misleading the judges on what Dance Moms was truly about, and the producers wanting to change the scores around to create more drama.
Tbh it creeps me out how many times they did the same solos over and over, kinda proves that aldc was a toxic environment and did NOT give a crap about anything but wins. There may be a reason why that happened, I don't do competitive dance so idk if this is a normal thing, but it seems like they only did this so their dancer would have an advantage, already knowing the dance.
This is normal. Most studios only have their dancers do 1-2 solos a year and there are repeats in the next years if it is successful. It’s not normal to learn a solo in under a week and compete, almost no studio actually does that.
it should not creep you out at all lmao this is completely normal in the dance world. parents would pay a set amount of money for a solo or two a season and their kid would compete those solos the entirety of the season. the girls on the show were the ones at a disadvantage competing solos they learned 4 days ago vs girls who had known their solo for 6 months
That’s completely normal, and you can tell that how they did it on Dance Moms was completely new because literally in the very first episode, Abby says that they’re gonna do something completely new and then tells them that they’ll be competing with new solos each weekend, and the girls looked shocked and confused. Doing the same solo every time for dance competitions is completely normal, as long as you don’t do the same solo every single year. So one year you might have a tap solo, then the following year it could be ballet, the year after it could be hip hop….that’s completely normal. Any studio that is able to pull off having their students compete with different solos every weekend, and the solos are actually good….that takes confidence and a whole lot of skills.
