I agree it’s better than a lot of other bands best albums. But ETID get better every album so I understand why they don’t like Hot Damn anymore. Keith’s vocals on that album are painful to replicate (all throat), and the guitar is honestly too all over the place for the guys to remember it all. I think more than anything it’s just a chore for them to have to relearn everything, and they’d rather play newer stuff that they relate to more nowadays.
The rampant riffs and brilliant lyrics will always regard Hot Damn! as a timeless Masterpiece. It changed the tides of the underground, as well as their entire lives. Still one of my favorite albums
I saw them once here in Tulsa, OK at a place called Cain's Ballroom. I think after Gutter Phenomenon came out. There's a little hallway that runs alongside the venue hall, where you could get out, get some AC, sit down on the ground. But it was literally just a hallway, it was long, but not wide. I was sitting on the ground near the end with my GF at the time, and who the fuck comes walking down the hallway but Jordan Buckley!! AND NO ONE SEEMED TO REALIZE BUT ME! He walked all the way down the hallway, I threw my hands up at him in disbelief, and he gave me the biggest most painful high five I've ever received. Still probably my top favorite concert moment, all these years later. Just wanted to share that.
I feel so privileged I was at 2000 trees this year... i went primarily to see ETID and frank ieros new project. I was in the pit the whole time for ETID, IT. WAS. AMAZING. Their energy and emotion was exactly what I expected from listening to their records. I will forever love and appreciate the music and Keith's lyrics.
Jed Davis they are consistently the best band to see live. Ive seen them at least 10 times throughout the years and every show gets better and better. If you haven’t already, check out Keith’s two novels he wrote. If you like his lyrics you’ll really appreciate his novels.
Saw them in Syracuse last month. Got to meet Keith after the show...super nice dude. Needless to say, the show was absolutely insane...stage diving, and crowd surfing going on the entire time. Even the band themselve's were jumping off stage the entire night. That was my first time seeing ETID and I alway's heard about how insane and energetic their show's were...it was all that and then some.
Hot Damn is the greatest album of all time. Hated it at first. My nu metal ears couldn't hack it, it was too heavy and chaotic. But I stuck with it. I kept playing it until it became the sweetest, most exciting music I've ever experienced. It changed my life forever. Standard metal became boring. I could write a fucking essay on just how sick this masterpiece is. The lyrics need a special mention too. Absolute poetic genius.
"it became the sweetest, most exciting music I've ever experienced. It changed my life forever. Standard metal became boring." I could say the same about ETID overall. Absolutely no comparison. RIP ETID.
