@@MrLachapell BnB in fighting games stands for 'bread and butter'. BnB refers to combos that are considered essential to know: typically each character will have a set of combos that are crucial to their playstyle, so any seasoned player will know these combos like the back of their hand, making BnB combos a good place to start when picking up a new character or game. A lot of modern fighting games have tutorials that teach you these combos and may also have on-screen input guides so you can practise them in a lab mode too. What OP is saying is that it would normally be unusual for an edge-case combo like this to be so widely practised - but because that particular parry string was made famous by Daigo, EVERYBODY wants to be able to pull off a combo that is most definitely *not* a BnB.

A million people have said it, but goddammit, I'm gonna say it too; Justin is such a fucking awesome dude for letting people have their own shot at the Daigo Parry. Justin explained once that SF was not his main game at that tournament. So he was completely focussed on another game and actually glad he made that far in SF at all. I don't he was even salty or anything about it. It was after it went viral and everybody trying to Diago parry him all the time it became a thing. I think that's what started the PTSD, not the event itself. But I could be wrong the video was a long time ago.

@mariozappini7784
@mariozappini7784 Год назад
It's not really about the move itself that's a top evo moment, i'm pretty sure every single SF pro back then could do that move, the difference is the setting. Daigo was at EVO aka the biggest fighting tournament in the world, he had 1 pixel left of hp in the finals and was in a room full of people screaming so he couldn't even hear the audio cues for a perfect timed parry and he somehow still managed to pull off one of the most legendary comeback in gaming history, that's what made him Legendary, that's where the true display of skill came for. It's the same thing when there's a quiz show on TV and people at home guess every answer but once they are there in the studio the pressure builds up too much and they can't handle it, or how that super mario bros speedrunner who completely choked in front of Shigeru Miyamoto

Not too long ago it was considered totally inconceivable that any human could ever do a backflip on a dirtbike (it's a several hundred lbs piece of metal LOL) until someone managed to do one for the first time in the world and people's minds were blown thinking this dude was the peak of human capability and no one could ever repeat this feat. For anyone who's thinking along the lines of "Maybe it's not as hard as I thought if randoms on Fightcade can do it", a few things to note: Firstly, due to Evo Moment 37 being the most viral FGC clip of all time, everyone and their mother has practiced this parry, meaning a surprising portion of players have mastered it. Secondly, probably the hardest part is inputting forward just before the screen freeze. If you only attempt to parry after the screen freeze, you get hit. It's not really possible to be 100% consistent on that since it's a read and not a reaction. Finally, you can imagine that everything becomes 10x harder when tournament nerves are a thing. These are casual Fightcade matches with Justin having fun by creating a situation where his opponent can try to parry a raw super. This is what's really impressive about Daigo as a person as well as a player, his nerves of steel. When asked about Evo Moment 37 in interviews, Daigo has said that he doesn't even remember it because he was so laser focused. So yeah, Daigo's still a god. These players are all very good though, it really ain't easy even with the advantages

Put it this way. If it weren't for Justin, most fans would never know the Daigo Parry was possible. Hell, if it weren't for Justin, there probably wouldn't be as many Street Fighter fans today. That moment is a legend that can never be topped, and he was one of the two participants.
