For some reason in the part where Ellie practices Sniper shooting, you don't bolt the rifle, but Tommy's animation in the part where he kills Manny shows him bolting. Really weird.
The story about revenge with both Ellie and Abby had a 3rd victim consumed by vengeance, and it was Tommy. He lost a lot; his brother, got permanently blinded and scarred and his relationship with Maria has broken… He has nothing left and ended up alone. Even more so than Ellie...
Exactly, Joel may have been Ellies lover, but Joel was Tommy's brother, so Tommy must have been much more destroyed by his death and won't stop at nothing to Kill Abby.
@minchken I’m sorry what??? Joel is not Ellie’s lover he was a father fiigure and Ellie is like 18 and Joel’s in his fifties. I agree with what you said about Tommy but it’s gross just thinking about it
@@dugtyler that encounter is recently after the fight of where he got hurt. I mean his leg needs time to heal up that being said he only took an arrow through the calf so it should heal up fine imo. As for his head trauma he still has his smarts and full brain functionality his bad eye is the only thing that could hold him back but he is still healthy enough to make the main character in tlou3 imo if they chose to.
I think it’s really interesting how Tommy guilts Ellie into hunting Abby just like how Ellie pushed Tommy into going to Seattle when he clearly had reservations about it beforehand.
yea its terrible writing honestly. Tommy went after Abby's group to protect Ellie so she wouldnt get hurt since she was the last thing he had that had any connection to Joel. He went from protecting her to "finish what I started"
@@adicusdeathreaperTommy set out to keep Ellie from seeking revenge, but he was just as dedicated to his retribution as she was. The only reason he wanted to go back out was because of Jessie and the wounds he got, both his physical ones and those to his pride. Every action they take is reasonable, and your qualms with the writing are fabricated.
@@heyreallygigeryea, Tommy has more reason for seeking revenge now, and he also probably has brain damage as well. Also Ellie and Dina got Jesse killed, so JJ will never get to meet his father. Dina has no right to criticize Tommy when her and Ellie started him on his path of revenge, and now they get to try to have a happy life when they have destroyed his and made him lose more than just his brother. Honestly, fuck them, hope Abby finishes them off now that she’s not pregnant. That’ll teach them.
Tommy at the end killed me. The change is tangible and dark. Ellie's fucked up too. They just couldn't let it go. Truly a hopeless ending for both of them.
@@jonnysith I wouldn't let it go either if I helped a stranger out in the cold and they tied me and a family member up and beat them to death while I was helpless
Your boy Tommy had nothing to lose by the end. That's what we're all missing. Tommy has no one but Ellie, he wants revenge, and he'd get it if he could, he doesn't give a flying fuck
unfortunately they don't plan on making a DLC. but they would have the perfect set-up with Tommy, you could play the 3 days in Seattle from his point of view. see how he tortured those 2 guys in the hotel, maybe play the sniper scene with Abby and Manny etc. would be really cool.
It's sad seeing him after the brain damage, because it reminds me of how my dad was after he experienced brain damage, not just the limp but the complete change in personality, it's a hell of a thing.
I thought the limp was from the arrow to the knee no clue it was brain damage that could cause that type of limp on another note I’ve had maybe 6 concussions in my life and I’m not even out of 16 no I don’t play American football I’ve just fell awkwardly i wonder how that will affect me later in life. I don’t want to become a vegetable that’s my biggest fear not spiders snakes or heights but becoming helpless and having to require constant care it scares the hell out of me question what happened to your old man If your ok to talk about it?
we need a prequel dlc that focuses on joel and tommy when they both doing what they had to do to survive in boston and what not. i’d also like for them to incorporate how they ended up splitting up and what tommy experienced while he was in the fireflies and maybe even now he came to marrying maria. itd make for a great story.
Instead of Abby helping those 2 siblings and having flash backs we could’ve had Tommy’s own revenge story would’ve been nice to see some stuff he did and then see the aftermath with Ellie and Dina. Just saying
TLOU II isn’t a revenge fantasy, it’s a revenge tragedy. Everyone loses everything because they act without thinking. Making a gung-ho section about Tommy would sully the point.
I feel Tommy should accompany Ellie throughout the game, after "some unnamed npc's son" killed Joel in the FIRST MOMENTS of the game... Goddamnit, i still can't help it that joel's death was like a side character
what the fuck is this comment......... you really think Tommy would've want Ellie to go to Seattle with him? And how was Joel's death like a side character when it's the startup to the whole plot and is present throughout the whole game?
Tommy is such a badass. I know people prefer Joel for obvious reasons but you gotta admit that Tommy, with Ellie is the best character in all The Last of Us universe...
Tommy in TLoU: almost shoots everyone who’s trying to approach his camp on sight, even if this someone is a little girl. Tommy in TLoU2: being in a room with a bunch of armed to the teeth adults that he met 5 secs ago. Oh hi! I’m Tommy, this is Joel, we have a camp nearby full of food, supplies and ammunition. Wanna come in? Don’t be shy, even if you’re a bunch of marauders/cannibals/ex FEDRA whatever. Directed by: Neil Druckman...
Years passed since the outbreak... They could have changed their behavior, also, they were escaping from a huge number of zombies, they didn't think it could be a trap.
Evil Sinematic People can change over a few years though. They live in a completely different environment now too and Jackson was known for taking people; Jackson is a county built by the community and it’s about helping each other. In the first game, it’s implied that Joel and Tommy had an argument bc Tommy felt like they were losing their humanity. Tommy is more trusting than Joel too. Joel isn’t alone as he was before either; he has a home ... it’s been years since the outbreak and years since Joel was a smuggler. Idk why people think change can’t happen. Like maybe if Joel was still alone, he would be the same as how we met him in the beginning of TLOU. Also, if you look at the notes left around while you’re venturing, people give details about their life in Jackson.
@@hazeneko 20 years of survival instincts, deleted by 4 years of community???? No survivor worth shit would just give up their names to a random group of armed strangers, circumstances or not.
what the fuck? "almost shoots everyone"? are you fucking kidding me? 😂😂😂😂 when did he do that? from what I recall, he pointed his gun with Maria and she asked what they were doing there, then Tommy got down and opened the door to his long gone brother accompanied by a stranger. Are you forgetting that this is the Tommy who wanted to help a family on the side of the road? The Tommy who was traumatized by his past as a Hunter and started a community of survivors? I love how people try to shift these characters to fit their narrative
Playing 30 hours of this game and only able to have 30 minutes of Tommy its sad, but I don't complain that much. Because his whole role in this game is better than we thought
Why? Ellie should kill Abby no matter what. After everything she did. I don't care about Dina. I dislike her completely. I want to play as Tommy and kill Abby.
I would enjoy a prequel where we play as Tommy. First during his and Joel's time as Hunters than during his time with the Fireflies and ultimately ending with him in Jackson and meeting Maria.
If Tommy hadn't been shot in the face he could've been the character to go behind Abby on the beach, okay I know it's not easy to walk but what about surgeries? Remember their town is quite big and if they have construction workers and engineers there, there's gotta be a surgeon to heal his leg. They did my boys Joel and Tommy dirty on this game.
The sniper scene was really hard for me, because I had grown to care about Abbey’s struggles and her personal journey. Part of me hated the sniper, but then I realized it was Tommy. A character that I loved, but from Abbey’s perspective he was just another asshole killing her friends. It’s crazy how this game makes you realize just how similar all the people are. At the end of the day they’re all just broken individuals trying to survive and keep their friends and family safe. Even the Scars were just trying to make it better for themselves in the end.
There is much different between jackson people and wlf and the scars, especially if you mention tommy that he was inviting survivers strangers to live in jackson or even take supply and gear, but the wlf and the scars kill every single tresspaser on sight with no warning.
I'd actually like to see an entire game dedicated to the years after Sarah's death that follows Tommy, and where you get to see Joel and the events that play out from Tommy's perspective. Since the majority of the 20 years that take place in between the beginning of the outbreak and from when Joel meets Ellie are pretty-much shrouded in mystery, aside from a few points where Joel talks about his time as a hunter, and his time in a triage hospital directly after he lost Sarah, I think there's enough story there that it could work.
Am i the only one who wants to know how tommy lived ? He got shot in the fucking head and had to travel 3 states by horse before getting medical treatment lol
So how is Last of Us Part 2? Joel dies from Abby and ruined golf for me early in the game. And Ellie gets nothing from her revenge. And Dina leaves her. And you can kill dogs. But Tommy is alive and well!
If you think Abby still should've died in the end, then you're a sociopathic moron. The irony is that all the villains of the game think the same way. You're a joke.
If it has a sequel, I think that it would most likely be about him against Abby, or maybe just Abby's new life, Ellie got softened by her life in the farm and the fear she suffers from because of her PTSD, and seeing how Abby took care of Lev and what she said after killing Jesse, meanwhile with what he said in the farm and what he suffers from now Tommy got some hard grudges and still know and could understand what she was trying to do at Santa Barbara idk
I hate abby for this but joel also killed innocent people that didn't deserve to die like Marlene, the 2 carivore guys that told him where ellie was,the firefly soldier that told him were ellie was and then those 3 doctors.sure they weren't as evil as the way abby kulled him but joel wasnt innocent of unjust murders as well.
I'm not going to defend Joels actions as morally pure, but Marlene was not innocent. Far from it. The fireflies were just as corrupt as any other group. Like, Marlene wouldn't even let Joel see Ellie, she told her goons to kill him if he tried anything even though she went back on her word and didn't give Joel the weapons as payment that she promised him, and she let her doctors put Ellie under without even asking Ellie what she wanted. And Abbys dad pulled a knife and threatened Joel. Whether or not Joel is Ellies dad he has more right to her than some random goons that may or may not have been able to make a cure (SUPER unlikely but a whole other discussion). Are the 'carivore' guys the ones in Davids group that Joel tortures? Because Joel walked out that door when he's healed and just wanted to know where Ellie was and was met with gunfire and then those two dudes ganged up on him. Joel got the upper hand and tortured them to get what he needed. He couldn't leave them alive cause they already proved they wanted to kill him. In an apocalyptic world, you eliminate the threats. Since Davids entire crew proved that they didn't give a shit about Ellie, it was in all fairness that Joel dealt with them the way he did. No he wasn't innocent I agree with you there, but he was arguably more justified in his decisions than Marlene or the fireflies.
If he had let them do surgery on Ellie, they could have developed a vaccine that would have helped thousands of lives. To save Ellie, Joel not only massacred all the fireflies present, but he also ruined any chances to save all the people who have been infected after that. It's just crazy how many people he killed to save one little girl, and to me, when you weight it all, Joel killed and made way more people suffer than Abby ever did. Sure, saving the life of an innocent girl is a good motive. But he killed so many people to do so that his action seems unjustifiable to me. And like Abby has said to her dad, she would have gladly died to save everyone from becoming zombies, and I'm pretty sure most people would be okay with sacrificing themselves to have a chance that their loved ones could be immune to the virus. In the end, I really see now real good person here. Joel massacred thousand and ruined humanity's only hope for a cure. Abby killed Joel when he was clearly not a threat anymore, just to get revenge, but she let Tommy and Ellie live. Ellie wanted to take revenge on Abby, but in the process killed two of her friends and the baby Mel was carrying. Abby then wanted revenge on that, and killed Jesse and hurt Tommy. It's just an endless cycle of revenge where everyone has at some point killed an innocent. Dina is the real hero of this story, I think. She was the one asking for the others to stop this cycle of violence.
One thing that I dont understand is that in the scene at 17:37 Tommy wants to leave and decides not to go after Abby any longer. But in the last scene he starts a fight with Ellie because he wants her to kill Abby. I dont understand the logic in that writing. Man this game had so much potential.
Dude, ffs. He lost a leg, an eye, and now even maria. In the first scene he was just talking out ellie from it. In the end he's a broken man. Even broke than the start of the game since now he really lost everything because of her. It's not lazy writing, it's lazy reading.
this game isn't actually half bad if you pay attention to a majority of the cutscenes in further scenarios i love the cutscenes but the game in general i'm just afraid afraid to play this game.
They should’ve started making DLCs for this game instead of remaking part 1. Would’ve really liked it if we got to play as Tommy to see what kind of encounters he dealt with looking for Abby and a short dlc how Jessie found Ellie.
This game really hates good characters Jesse , Joel then they made Tommy a fucking crippled.. with one eye. Ellie didn’t even take Abbys to give us satisfaction for his eye nothing. in the end we don’t even get to kill Abby… or take her finger eye. Abby killed Joel for Christ sake with a golf club Joel deserved better … This game tried to show us something about death, hope and forgiveness but I wasn’t here for it. Fuck this game honestly.
Every time i remember the last of us i feel goosebumps and angry at the same time, i just feel we could spend more time with joel in the game but not as an memory, the game was great but still it was a big mistake to kill joel like this and that early
I know the whole story of this game is revenge and whatever. But holy shit I would've prefered we played as Tommy over Abby, he is such an amazing character and such a badass. Even a dlc where we get to hunt Abby with the sniper would make me happy.
Story is so stupid with the death of joel that i would even accept a much more stupid story like, Joel comes back to the living... Or something like that. For this series i can only see two ways it could get me back: A) Make a game about Joel, Tommy and Tess or B) continoue with Tommy and get rid of Abby. Maybe Ellie changes her mind and helps Tommy. Or make a new story from scratch inside the games lore/ world.
If I choiced with last of us 1 or 2 im sure I well take 1 cuz 2 have fackin bad story Elie gay and she have girl friend gay and her girl friend say to Elia we done for joel wtttttttfack is going an this facking game this last of us or what this bulshit Im sure nghoty dog its drinking when he made this game
It's more about him getting killed by some unnamed prick in such a dumb and meaning less way with a golf club is what we're pissed off about, not the fact that he's dead; his actions in Salt Lake would become with some obvious consequences for what he did to the fireflies and to the rest of humanity - he was doomed to die as soon as he killed that doctor and took Ellie.
@@YoursTruIy_ Well that's why the second part of the game exists. To explain who abby is and why she wanted to kill him. And the reason why they don't tell you any of that in the first place, is because they wanted you to be in Ellie's shoes.
tyler edwin Yeah but having Abby kill Joel before we even know or care about who she is negatively effects the players view of that character throughout the whole game; she could’ve been the best written character in all of Naughty Dog games, but she’ll always be that prick who killed one of our favorite protagonists. In turn, you spend the whole game getting to know her after the fact, and because it’s already after we know what she did in the way of a continuous flashback is what does her character injustice to begin with. They should’ve told her flashback stories as well as Ellie’s flashback stories throughout the begging of the game as it lead up to her and her fellow W.L.F. members tracking down Joel. I’m sure everyone woukd’ve felt even worse about Joel’s death if it was done by someone whom we got to know already and had a connection to instead of someone we didn’t know at the time of his death.
Man, it makes me really sad to see Tommy like that in the end. You would think he would have more sense than to keep chasing revenge, but that hurt inside him must outweigh reason. I felt bad for him the most.
Tommy was on his senses at the beggining, he asked ellie to let go, ellie manipulate him to leave with a promise of revenge, he lost a lot just because a girl tantrum
@@TrenElZombie No, he would've never let Abby's group go. The only way he was acting like that with Ellie was to convince her to let go and avoid her risking her life too.
It wasn’t even his fault either I think if Ellie never came Tommy would have killed all of them some time later. All cause Ellie revealed the location of their base.
The worst part; if he didn’t get shot in the head, he’d still be chasing Abby. His leg’s the only thing stopping him. I don’t know if he’ll ever be able to move on.
So grateful he survived tlou2. If they make a third one or any dlc we gotta have Tommy as the playable protagonist. Even DLC about how he founded Jackson, met Maria etc would be lit af.
It would’ve made more sense if Tommy went after Abby and played as the main character because first of all Ellie doesn’t fight good compared to Abby Tommy could beat the shit out of Abby
They need to make an epilogue dlc where Tommy makes a full recovery and tracks down Abby after he learns Ellie didn't end her. Tommy is a force of nature. In the Seattle segment, he was an unstoppable killing machine. Not even being shot in the head managed to take him down. Joel also said in the first game "he's stubborn and thick skulled". Being blind isn't gonna stop him, he can and will adjust to the handicap
Tommy is probably the smartest character ever, his interrogation was hella smart, HE SHOOTS THE METAL OBJECT TO MAKE IT VIBRATE LIKE HELL WITH HIS SNIPER TO LURE ZOMBIES, like bruh he’s also a hella good sniper he nearly killed Abby and survived a headshot to the head cuz he is big brain
Joel and Tommy: *Saves Abby's life and brings her back to her crew; offers her crew a chance to restock before they venture further out.* Abby: *Proceeds to murder Joel for killing her dad years ago.* Now, I'm no mathematician, but....
