Akaza died a human, he was able to escape Muzan's grasp just like Tamayo, Tanjiro, and Nezuko. He regained his humanity, even if he couldn't wash away his sins. I'm sure even Rengoku was happy to see his rival overcoming himself. Kokushibu was just plain sad - even Yoriichi commented on how shitty of a hole he drove himself into. He had nothing left despite gaining all that power - no family, no ties, no fame, not even any form of honor and humanity. He became a monster on a short leash, to serve a dark master that cared nothing for him or anyone else. All he could do was wave a sword around meaninglessly, killing for naught. Yet despite all that, in the end, he could never let go of the one thing he cared about, his brother. The only thing he kept from his past, is that wooden flute...
my ultimate favorite is gyutaro and akaza such a sad backstory, akaza didnt want to become a demon but muzan just punch him in the head gyutaro and daki or should i say ume is so sad gyutaro is treated like shi
The fact that strong demons called upper moons and upper 1 kokushibo literally moon breathing user , so maybe muzan named others as upper moons because of the respect towards kokushibo
Tanjiro said that no one is comparing a good demon to a bad one. It's their backstories who changed their behavior and attitude. But for what I gather, it's that humans from the past created their own kind into demons through negative habits that affects the person who turned into a demon.
If the human has positive life. They have a higher chance to break through muzan control. Which is why muzan only targets miserable beings. Probably also ordered by muzan to do that to the other demons.
Gyutaro and daki death was sad af, especially Gyutaro, he was treated like crap his whole life, found one person who cared for him his sister and they took her away then tried to kill him for what he did for work, even his own mom tried to kill him because he was ugly, him getting revenge on humans was satisfying, he did nothing wrong in my eyes but still paid for it in the end, his life was shitty from the day he was born

i literally just finished rereading the defeat of Kokushibo. it was unfair for him, even as a human he never achieved anything in his life, he didn't leave anything behind. i was actually rooting for him though, honestly.
Upper moons appearance in the manga is too little. I wish they create new manga focusing on other era of demon slayer where all are being slain by upper moon so that we can see the powerful power of upper moons
Akaza and kokushibu death similar. They reflect themselves after beheaded. I guess even they can regenerate their head, they are souless. That's why they see spirit someone they know. Wonder if they continue to live without soul, 100% pure demon.
