Fun-fact: Andrew Jackson also had a parrot that learned some of Andrew Jackson's colorful vocabulary, and at Andrew Jackson's funeral, the parrot had to be removed because it wouldn't stop swearing
FDR’s Scottish terrier, Fala, was the dog most associated with FDR. I suspect more people can recall reading or hearing about Fala than can name any of his vice presidents with the possible exception of Truman. The dog most associated with Nixon, was no doubt Checkers, who was the subject of the speech that saved his career in politics. And then, of course, there was JFK’s favorite pet, Marilyn, which you completely forgot.
Teddy Roosevelt's CHILDREN had a "zoo" of over one hundred animals INSIDE the White House, including a goat (more or less "house broken" according to Eleanor and TR Jr.), goldfish (presents from the Mikado of Japan and China's Dowager Princess!), Guinea Pigs, dogs, cats, pet rats and mice, parakeets and Budgies, and "outdoor pets" of over a dozen ponies and horses, a mule, two donkeys, sheep, two cows, chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese, a Barn Owl ("Benjamin" after Franklin), falcons, numerous pigs and many more I'm sure I've missed! His Secretary of State said "Visiting the President is like a trip to a zoological park. I shared a chair with a Guinea Pig or two in conference with him yesterday...(a present from Queen Victoria, who's children ALL had Guinea Pigs!) In that era, The Oval Office was reserved for the President and his personal writing secretary-except for Teddy's kids and animals! For eight years, the White House was "home" to about 20-30 children-Roosevelt's and their cousins and friends, most year-'round. William Taft (his VP) called it "Bedlam" after the insane asylum in London! The White House servants were delighted-even though the kitchen was open and serving 24/7 and cleaning-up after ducks, chickens, etc!
Sometimes that is the point. Harry Bennett…the head of Henry Ford’s secret police…had tigers on his property for security. It is true, the man was a real like a real life supervillain.
@@Him.TheOneAndOnlyit ain’t a petty reason. Trump just endorsed the book by Christy noem where she talks about shooting her dog and goat in the head because they pissed her off. Sick people.
FDR's favorite pet was Fala, his Scottish Terrier. Nixon had King Timahoe Irish setter and the infamous Checkers cocker spaniel. LBJohnson was known for picking up his Beagles, Him and Her, by their ears. The parrot picture is a canary (JFK) and the mockingbird picture is blue jays. How about some better research?
45 is evil and there was a video showing 2 bald eagles, the symbol of our country, trying like hell to get away from him. Ivana's poodle bit him once. Animals sense evil people.
James K. Polk and Donald J. Trump Among the 46 presidents, Trump is the only American president who did not have any pets. I don't know about Mr. Polk, but I know about Trump that because he is obsessed, he considers animals dirty and is not interested in having a pet.
I say this in an understanding way, that everyone knows that Trump is a "Germ/Clean Freak" and so I can fully understand his not wanting pets around the house. I do think he should allow Barron to have a dog. Animals are good teaching tools for responsibility and compassion.
