Alot of stuff missing in terms of what's different between the PS3/360 and PS2 versions for example. Kingpin and the Gang Leaders are exclusive to the PS3/360 games too as is being able to play New Goblin during one mission and actually fighting him properly where's in the PS2 version its really a Quick Time Event fight and Kingpin, the Gang Leaders, Scropion, Rhino are cut along with Claypso whose only in Kraven's story arc in the PS3/360 versions and she transforms Connors into a giant Lizard Monster wheres in the PS2 version Kraven finds and stabs him and Connors injects himself again to save himself and turns into a Giant Lizard Monster. You also only fight the Mad Bomber Luke Carlyle personally in the PS2 version where he personally seeks revenge against JJJ and the Daily Bugle where's in the PS3/360 ones you fight his Helicopter and Luke Carlyle seeks revenge on the whole city and JJJ. In the PS2, depending on which suit you wear the most, the environment ends up changing around the city. If you wear the Black Suit the streets get dirty and trees have no leaves where's with the normal suit everything feels positive and clean.
Apologies, I didn’t want it to be 40 minutes long so instead of an ‘All differences’ video it was just showing a brief glimpse at the different versions. Great work though, I didn’t know a few of these myself
@@jediknightgeo THIS. The PS2/Wii versions described it as Exclusive villains to that Console version which is weird because they make it sound like all the other villains are in it. But Shriek and Morbius are exclusive to the PS2/Wii the same way that Scorpion, Rhino, Kingpin, the Gang Leaders, Calypso and actually fighting New Goblin are exclusive to the PS3/360 versions. I will say this, the PS2/Wii versions told the story slightly better. Shriek and Morbius sort of tie into the Black Suit what with Shriek having become infected from the meteors that also brought the symbiote to Earth and there's this really cool moment in the game where Peter hallucinates and fights against illusions of MJ, Harry, Connors and JJJ. Make no mistake, the old versions were terrible gameplay wise but it had its moments.
@@HeatKingMedia I remember there was also an exclusive mode in it as well (Conquest Mode) and a fight with Lizard when he becomes like a "super" version of himself in the Wii/PS2/PSP version but I don't remember if you fight that specific version of him in the 360/PS3 version. To be honest I don't think Vicarious Visions Wii/PS2/PSP version is terrible but it's not great either. I do think certain things are done better in Vicarious Visions version than Treyarch's 360/PS3 version and vice versa. Both versions aren't great though when it really comes down to it. Vicarious Visions DS and GBA versions though are legit very solid.
@@SpiderBen Also if my memory serves me right the combos were changed to left and right punches that deal massive damage while under the control of the black suit.
@@gabrieldobles3397 it allows you just makes it harder. It actually makes sense if you at all remember the Movie. The Symbiote refuses to be taken off by Parker because it feeds off of his rage and power. It assimilated his abilities which is why Eddie Brock is also able to Webswing and build Nets.
Can we all appreciate two things with the ps2/psp/Wii version? 1. It made the black suit feel more than just a gimmick by making the player notice how harder it gets for them to take it off, like each time you wanna take it off it requires more buttons and that really helps the player understand the situation peter is through 2. Peter says :"you've got me on the wrong night count"....that's too cool hearing it from Maguire's mouth.
not to forget that cool rage mode that you got with the black suit where you only had like a minute or so to take it off otherwise you die but during that time your practically unkillable, and then theres that portion of the game where your in that mode forever, really makes the black suit live up to its name
@@Mrfluffypants49 wow I didnt know that, gosh makes you wonder if this version could be the true spiderman 3? It really had it all, open world, same story with some new characters, new moves and the implication of black suit into the damn gameplay and not just a reskin with a added power It actually was a parasite(or symbiote) in the game that actually wouldn't want to leave you at times
I played the ps2 and ps3 version, and ngl, kinda preferred the ps2 version, mostly because you can change suits and because the black suit actually made you feel more powerful
Not sure why they didn't put the Change suits option in. I really like the detail of "The more you're powerful the longer and harder it is to take it off"
yea I would enjoy of enjoyed if the ps3 version was just the ps2 just upped in graphics I like the story, villians, missions, and mechanics more then the ps3
@@GmoneyHngryHoes yeah but you can’t change them on the fly, you gotta go into a menu and change it, on the ps2 you can just press a button and get a cool animation of the suit going on. Also the green goblin was really underwhelming to play with lol
I loved the ps2 version wayyy more because of the nostalgia, changing suits, infinite side missions I believe and the combat, which the combat felt really satisfying and everything.
it reminds me of another Spiderman game on the gameboy that looks and plays almost identical and was a big part of my childhood. I think it was 'Ultimate Spiderman', the story had a comic book artstyle and you could play as both Spiderman and Venom on their individual stories ( later on, as a twist, you'd fight carnage).
After playing marvels spiderman. And all the rami games. Man do I miss Tobey Maguire grunting while you play. Really made me feel like I was the character from the movie. Sometimes tho in the new game it sounds like him at times. Which is cool.
@@PunxTV123 yeah. Tobey is always gunna be spiderman for me at least. But. I heard we might see him in the new one along with Andrew Garfield..heard some Spider verse shit was gunna go down
The PS2 version has such cool music. By the way, there is a significant difference between the PS2 and PSP versions. In the PSP, the black suit is just the red suit but with all the upgrades, in the PS2 however, the combat moves a very different, he has some of the upgrades and Spider-man looks more bulky. His moves are more violent, he uses more punches than kicks and even does a headbutt. I really like these differences in PS2, it makes it special for me.
PS2 version own in both games, but I always prefered Spider-Man 3 even though the second movie was better. Spider-Man 2 definitely owns in swinging mechanics and liberty around the city, but for the rest I'll go with this one.
I remember when this came out, my best friend pre ordered the wii version and I pre ordered the xbox 360 (but my copy arrived the next day). I went from school to his house and played this until we finished it in a couple of hours. I remember we were dissapointed and next day we played the xbox 360 at my house and had a lot of fun. He sold his wii and bought a ps3 just for this game lol. I loved the ad campaign they did for this movie. I remember with nostalgia this game and the movie (I was 10 at the time).
I had the Wii version and I remember there being a ticket voucher for the movie in the case. I saw it twice, once with my aunt and cousins and once with a friend. Don’t remember which one I used the voucher for.
I had only played the ps2 version, I was wondering what I was missing because the back of the CD cover was displaying something really different (with this video the mystery has been solved!). I really like the swinging in the ps3 version as shown here. But I can see the black suit was used effectively and nicely in the ps2 version. Good times with ps2
3:24-6:59 The PS2 has better graphics than all the others, except the PS3 version (which I really like for it's graphics but I don't know about the gameplay compared to the Xbox version).
@@Anonymous-rp6qj Uh…no some people actually do despise this game. GodzillaMendoza in particular made an entire video about this game during his Spider-Man retrospective.
@@SpiderBen Agreed. I don’t think it’s a horrible Spider-Man game by any means (the “HD” version anyway) but it didn’t really do much for the Spidey license either.
I remember there was a part towards the end of the game on the ps2 version where you're stuck with the black suit and it makes it easy to go around and clear gang missions and whatever else you have left to do lol to be more clear you're stuck in a rage state where your punches do crazy damage where prior to that part you couldn't stay in that state for too long or you'd die i think
Compared to Spider-Man 2 all of these versions (except the portables) look unbelievably unfinished. Also interesting little fact about Electro, thanks for that.
I actually really liked the ps2 version with the reason almost like everyone. Using the black suit will make you stronger, but it will be harder to take off the more you use it.
Great video ben, this video, gives me back memories, i played the psp/ps2 version, what i think its the one us played first, and after i get the pc version. Memories... And better time than this in 2020
I loved Man 3, best game ever. Having Peter Parker in a cosplay of Spider-Man walking in the city and paying rent and taking photos for the Bugle. The most game ever
so funny story when i was young i only had a psp so i would play the psp version which is the same as the ps2 port, i always wanted to play the ps3/pc version because the graphics was way better than what i was having, now older i have a pretty powerful pc so i did try the pc version, wow what a horrible buggy game that was, looking back the psp version i played was really good
@Cj Nation367 tbh if can i would really recommend you to try both but wii version for slightly better story telling and a wayyyy better use of the black suit
@Cj Nation367 yeah bro maybe even go for ultimate spiderman or web of shadows for like the best spiderman experience just after those new ps4 ps5 games
Feel like they could’ve polished the graphics a bit more for the ps3/360/PC version but considering it was early in the generation it’s still impressive with how much of the map you can explore without loading screens. Just wished Spider-Man 4 was made so we could’ve seen what Treyarch could’ve done with a 4th game.
Treyarch unfortunately were called to make Call of Duty so Radical Entertainment(Prototype, Simpsons Hit and Run, Hulk Ultimate Destruction) were gonna make Spider-Man 4 but since the movie was cancelled they tweaked the mechanics and open world for Prototype 2 and later on they were shut down Would've loved them to handle TASM games if they still existed
While the PS3 version was a bit better, the PS2 version got the black suit right. Not only did you do more damage, but if you wore it for too much, it would start to consume you and you'd have to take it off. But it was amazing how whe the suit began to consume you, you did massive damage. And the hits sounded with bine crushing sounds. It felt so bad ass!!!
I have ordered it once again actually I had it, but I have lost it and I really wanted to complete this game and I don't care what people think about this game. I truly liked it, and in context of graphics I really believe it's a goody. Although this is a old game. I bought the PC version.
All versions are different and "unique" in there own way. Playing one for hours without cringing or doing a comparison actually makes it fun given the fact that they all clunky.
I had the PS2 version first then the XBOX 360, both actually have strengths and weaknesses but I pictured it as if they combined the walkthrough and suit abilities of the PS2 with the graphics and combat of the 360 we could have had the perfect Spiderman 3 game
I think it has to do with the next-gen versions. If I'm not mistaken, the game was supposed to come out on ps2 gen and almost at the last minute Activision decided to rush a next-gen version, which resulted in many bugs mostly with the quick time events. I think that's why people remember it being bad, although the ps2 version i grew up with was great
