To be completely fair, Avengers engine didn't revolve around a swinging g mechanic like most of these games. So honestly, for what it is, it's perfectly fine. I don't need ps4 spudey fluidity in a multiplayer beatemup game

The change between 2007-2008 was immense. That's when Spider-man games really started to lay the groundwork for what the open world of New York looks like in a Spider-man games of the modern era. So thanks Beenox and Treyarch. You laid the ground work for Insomniac.

@@thirdeye4686 in older games (and some modern ones), the webs don’t actually attach to buildings. Most games nowadays show the web attached to something like a building or lamppost, but other games just have the web shoot up into the air attaching to nowhere. Since uncle Ben is dead, and heaven is said to be up, the webs in those games are jokingly said to be attached to an Uncle Ben in heaven

I love how in the new games (Marvel's Spider-Man and Miles Morales) Miles is not just a re-skin of Peter. He actually has his own moves while swinging, he is a bit clunkier than Peter and has a bit more "teenagery" and "hipstery" style of swinging while Peter's swinging is more refined and efficient let's say cuz of course he is more experienced.

I'm shocked Fortnite managed to nail a lot of stuff with their Spider-man. It wasn't shown in this video, but you can also web yourself behind a moving vehicle to start surfing. Honestly, I wish the PS4/PS5 games had that feature. Imagine being Miles and sliding behind a truck or a car during a chase sequence.

Honestly, when it comes to button control, I like TASM 2. I love how L2 controlled Peter’s left hand when swinging, and R2 controlled his right hand. Really just having control in general. Same with Fortnite. You got to control where you shot your webs. Either way, I’m excited to see what Insomniac does with Spider-Man 2!

Marvels Avengers has one problem. When you shoot the web, you just stop. You don't slowly move, you simply just stop moving, mid air, and that makes what little momentum the game has harder to notice.

Apart from the web swinging, I love how Spiderman ps4 has the spider suit match the world in saturation so it doesn't look out of place like many of the others. Same goes for the web, it's not super white, just the right amount that feels realistic and is noticeable

Marvels Avengers swinging is just so stilted and awkward…. Doesn’t help that each swing is followed up by a shout from Peter giving off the illusion he’s actually traveling a significant distance…. Maybe a speed increase would help make it more fun to swing than how it is now.

I love it when Spider-man does his mini/short aerobatic move while swinging. And I’m amazed that they did it in 2005 with Ultimate Spider-man. And the Ps4/PS5 and Miles Spider emphasize it even mote.

Whoa, okay. This is like the best web swinging evolution video out there. Not only is super inclusive when it comes to games not necessarily /centered/ around Spider-Man, but it shows off the various animations super well and doesn't look like someone let their drunk toddler play. And the enemies were cleared out too so they didn't mess with shit which was SUPER appreciated. Sorry, I've been watching a lot of these cause NWH got me thinking about multiverse Spider-Men and I wanted to see different styles so I think I'm a bit of a snob now. But this is the best one out there *bar none* Nice work

Despite it's swinging mechanics, I still believe Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions set the narrative for story lines throughout these games. This one really hits close to home with being one of my first and best spidey games of all time!

I really hate to see the choppy momentumless swinging in most of this video. It's crazy to see the attention to detail fortnite put into it. While you can't run on buildings or land on anything while swinging, the momentum is incredible and I Iove the fact that every web has to attach to something and isn't just being shot into the sky straight up into nothing. The biggest downside is that the targeting system glitches out a lot for me.

Personally I like the Amazing spiderman Web swinging and off center camera angle paired with its Web rush the most. To me it gives the most fluid experience while showing momentum. In the new spiderman games there's momentum but it doesn't rise and fall like it should. It feels constant.

Personally, the miles morales swinging was the best and most fluent. That’s at least how I felt when playing it.

Miles game has really good web swinging. I mean Marvel's Spider-Man had pretty good web swinging but Miles game did improve it pretty significantly. Makes me hopeful for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 for sure.

I still think that Spider-Man 2 for PS2 had the best sense of speed and momentum of any game; PS4 made him just a bit too slow even when doing a full free fall but this was much improved in Miles Morales and seems to be even better in Spider-Man 2 (new one) coming up. I think the PS4 limit / speed restrictions was much more for render / performance reasons.

Not enough Ultimate Spider-Man love. Some people say that it’s clunky, but it just has a high skill ceiling. Once you figure it out and get used to it, mobility becomes so damn fun and fast paced.
