@@MyWorld-eb9oz yeah that was the first even to watched and i was hooked. i wish i got the chance to go to a world finals in vegas 🙁 but i mean i’ve been to jacksonville twice and that was awesome
1:05 this is the first time I've really looked closely at this backflip, and it is so insane that the truck did a backflip based solely on throttle and momentum. I can't imagine seeing a 5 ton beast do that live!
It always amazes me just how easy it looks for them to throw around such huge machines. I have to imagine inside that it felt like going around a loop-the-loop on a roller coaster, where your head is being forced between your legs by the negative G's you're pulling at such high speeds.
1: I'd love to see some sort of in-depth explanation of the physics behind all the crazy stunts monster trucks pull off someday. 2: Keep in mind that that's Neil Elliott in his Maximum Destruction chassis, even if it had the Team Hot Wheels Firestorm body on. That combination of chassis and driver practically guarantees crazy bullshit will happen.
@@MyWorld-eb9ozyeah Chris admitted that he wanted to bust through the trailer. He hit the brakes because he saw sky and thought he was through it. Tough it though
1:58 something seems wrong with this backflip ramp when you compare it to the other one. It's shorter, it's more destroyed despite both being hit only once, and it's design even looks weaker than the other. You notice how it doesn't have cars behind it, or that hard looking wood around the edge? Interesting.
I know earlier on that night, Pablo Huffaker had sunk in the top of the ramp by landing on it during his freestyle run. Maybe that had something to do with how it affected Marc McDonald's hit.
I personally think that Neil Elliot got robbed in 2017. He had a phenomenal freestyle from start to finish and got second, meanwhile Mad Scientist had a pretty boring run not going to lie, and got first. All he he did was got lucky and hit a front flip but Neil Elliot actually attempted the move and succeeded, plus the whole stadium was booing the judges for when Neil didn’t get first so i don’t think many agree with Lee O’Donell winning.
I totally agree, his freestyle as a whole was much better than Lee's, Lee just had the first of what we'd been waiting for until than and it was so smooth, I mean I'll say THE most satisfying move I've ever seen, and the more impressive reverse backflip, which is just a front flip off a backflip ramp, wasn't voted the winner because it was less satisfying. If it wasn't such a special moment, Neil would've won.
Actually Jim Kohler’s first backflip was in Syracuse 2015 after freestyle ended he brought avenger out and did a encore freestyle were he would do a backflip and land it successfully
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jzRZih9zusU.htmlsi=HvMOhWWUIrNwf0IT Here is fan footage of the backflip like I mentioned before it's only an encore he does the backflip 22 seconds into it
@@MyWorld-eb9oz i really wish the two others trucks were recorded better as there is not much footage of them that actually shows them doing the backflip
It's a lot like the WCW Nitro Machine run from the first world finals, but a tiny bit more accessible. I guess they thought those four backflips shown were the only ones we cared about, which isn't too outrageous seen as one did an amazing save, another started break dancing, and a third got stuck, lol.
@@MyWorld-eb9oz I did find a clip that showed, them, with the one to the left doing a perfect backflip then breaking a rear wheel, kinda like crusador did. the other landed on a wheelie and then landed it back on all 4 tires.
Well, while that's kinda true, Foxborough was actually even less clean in my opinion. I mean, he kinda destroyed the truck. BTW, what's your profile pic from? It's really cool.
I feel like people thought scooby doo in Nicole Jonson was the first woman to land a backflip at world finals 15, those people are of course very wrong
Well, actually, that makes no sense. No one has ever defined successfully LANDED as landed and continued! That's what YOU think a successful backflip is.
Well, I can't count after this video was made because of how time works, but other than that yes, you're correct, I really hate watching those world finals.
5:38 How on Earth did Adam Anderson get 1.5 bonus points out of that? He didn't even DO ANYTHING! He was in bonus time midbackflip! How do you score a truck just rolling backwards onto its roof 1.5? The lowest bonus score at that time was a 0.5, and the highest is a 5, so 1.5 is pretty major. I hate world finals 2016. I don't care that my favorite truck won.
Exactly. If they'd given the freestyle title that night to Damon Bradshaw or Dennis Anderson, everyone would've been happy since they both had epic runs from start to finish. Adam had a very good run, but it just fell short in places that the judges should've considered better.
Yes, but stuff like this has made me a more mature fan, because now I'm not so focused on Grave Digger winning, and just enjoying the sport as purely entertainment.
@@MyWorld-eb9ozI agree with this. I really do not care at all who wins any particular competition as long as it is deserving. I personally feel like Dennis Anderson should've won freestyle in 2016. And Damon Bradshaw should be a very close second place only because he only really did huge air. The air he git was extremely impressive because it was just moonshot after moonshot. However, he did have to back up a fee times which back then was supposed to be a points deduction. Even though that's not really taken into consideration anymore
Yes, once I get back into Monster Jam, a video containing that moment will be the first thing I release. Thank you for the suggestion, it is taken with pleasure.
@@MyWorld-eb9oz The highlight of the show for sure. I love how the windshield and horns got completely destroyed when Monster Energy hit him on his run
Yeah, I mention in the comments that I also only include a few from world finals 2018. I actually do that in all of my videos. Put "every world finals" into the title, but only go until world finals 18, 17, and sometimes even 14. I guess I'm just too lazy to do anything about that part, but "every" world finals sounds more attractive than "almost every" world finals, and I don't care if it's honest or not. It's about views and getting people to get involved with my channel. In all seriousness though, it IS just a title. Does it really matter?
Oh, I wasn't trying to diss you, I just wanted to get the fact out of the way that I don't really care about bending the truth in my title. That's all.
I had a frustrating feud with a guy who just completely overreacted about it like I was having a freaking affair on my wife, so I just wanted to avoid that immediately with you, but you seem cool about it, so I'm fine.
Clearly you didn't see it, but I have a video of the whole run, so look at it yourself, also, I included Bounty Hunter, who didn't even flip backwards, it was just a lean back and twist.
It didn't end up like it, but if you look at the Wikipedia page and go down into trivia, you'll see that Hancock himself was actually attempting a flip in reverse, so with that knowledge, I had to put it in, but I get your point.
What are you talking about? Do you mean the 35th anniversary? There isn't a backflip in the 30th anniversary encore, but there're three in the 35th. I'm pretty sure I included all of them, and NO, they're not the most famous, but I may be wrong about including them. Guess I'll go check.
Dude, there's no way I was gonna count that as a *backflip attempt*. He didn't have the slightest bit of end over end rotation. He was trying to take out El Toro Loco in my opinion. However, thanks for making it clear that it's the most memorable for YOU, not the most famous. It's a bad trait that all of us have sometimes, where we say something is the greatest, or most famous, when it's just that way in our opinion, and it puts words in people's mouths.

I legit had no idea that encore even existed until last Saturday. It was pretty neat, but I could never bring it up by memory unless I saw it live. I didn't give a crap about Monster Jam that year. Everything was ruined by fan judging by that time.
